Why This Is Taylor’s Best Album Yet  lilac goddess  5 star

If you have heard songs like “...Ready For It” or “Look What You Made Me Do” and think Taylor has gone “dark” or don’t like her new sound, I encourage you to listen to reputation in order all the way through. This album starts out in a darker tone where Taylor claims that she doesn’t care about her reputation and how everyone is attacking her. Then, when you get to the middle of the album, she does a 180 and has songs like “Dress” and “Call It What You Want” where she talks about her love and how it’s special and the album becomes a sweet tribute to her loved ones. I think starting with a larger than life song like “...Ready For It” and ending with “New Year’s Day” where it focuses more on her pure vocals and soft piano than big bass beats. Taylor Swift’s “reputation” definitely deserves a listen from everyone.

Taylor kills it every time. Just when you think she can’t get any better, she does. She’s truly a lyrical mastermind. This album has been played on repeat since the day it came out.

I’ve loved Taylor since her first album. She has come so far... and tho this album is SO different from her others-and might take a second to get used to- I still love and support Taylor completely. Can’t wait to see the concert TOMORROW!!!!!

every track on this album offers something different and each is amazing. i definitely recommend you listen to the songs that aren’t labeled as “mainstream” (don’t blame me, getaway car, dancing with our hands tied, king of my heart) before making an assumption on the whole album based on one track. you will not be disappointed with this album, it’s one you can’t stop playing!

Only the best from Taylor! Bought this album when it first came out, and months later I’m still in love with every song! Her writing is so beautiful and it’s so fun to sing along!

Generic. Mediocre At Best  vertaperl  1 star

It’s not the best, very close to being one of the most bland albums I’ve ever listened to, with Look What You Made Me Do sounding like a filler on this album alongside Dress and Don’t Blame Me with very cliche lyrics, “I only bought this dress just for you to take it off”, “My drug is my baby I be using for the rest of my life”, with Call It What You Want sounding like it suffered a low budget mastering session, 1989 is a definite start to her pop sound, but ending very quickly with reputation furthering her into legacy territory, since songs like ...Ready For It? and I Did Something Bad have similar sounds to Little Mix’s Power and Katy Perry’s Hey Hey Hey, or Roulette, lyrically, Taylor Swift hasn’t changed much, sonically, she’s becoming less intriguing, with pop beats starting to sound very similar, beginnings and endings of some pop songs sounding almost indistinguishable, she might become the next Fergie, with having only one recognizable piece of work despite having other successes, Taylor Swift doesn’t have an R&B voice, or a Nicki Minaj/Rihanna voice, she’s better off creating works reminiscent of her previous works, examples including Red, Speak Now, and Fearless, since those 3 albums can convey a story, while reputation just tells how she wants her boyfriends to take off her dress and comparing him to a drug while cheating on her other boyfriend who’s “in the club doing, I don’t know what”, while also teasing fans with a “are you ready for some ghost comparisons” while keeping them hooked with a simple “I brought a knife to a gun fight”, comparing some songs coming from Red, Speak Now, and Fearless have details, “she’s cheer captain and I’m on the bleachers”, and describes how she remembers what she did with her boyfriend in great detail “all too well”, but that’s if Taylor Swift wants longevity with her fans, in terms of success, she’s on somewhat a steady train track.
