Born Innocent by The Proclaimers Album Info
February 2004 ARTIST: The Proclaimers TITLE: Born Innocent RECORD LABEL: Persevere REVIEW BY: Michael Delgado The Proclaimers brought us the madly addictive hit, “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” which found a home in American’s minds and Top 10 charts in the early ‘90’s. This album holds true to their head-bobbing, metronome pace of pop and Scottish quirkiness, with lyrics like, “I like the smell of petrol/I love the taste of booze” (“Hate My Love”). But it’s not all booze and gasoline. You’ll find precious gems like, “No Witness,” a potent song that makes you desperate to long for anything at all, just so you can express how it makes you feel, or the upbeat “Dear Deidre,” which is as weird and boppy as “I’m Gonna Be...” ever was.
