This album is much better then their last offering by far !! I just finished my own little listening party (full blast in my car, windows up). This is classic Cheap Trick. You listen to any of these songs and you will automatically know it's them! Robin's voice sounds great!! Check out Track #3, it has a Zander offspring singing background vocals! I had the opportunity to see them play in a small club a few years back, and they played so loud that the roof well...you know..(ya,ya, different band I know..) Those who dig Cheap Trick will really enjoy this album, thumbs definitely up on this one!!!

Though this album will likely not even chart since Cheap Trick's heydeys are sadly LONG gone, this is still an album that will retain it's core audience and maybe pick up a few new ones discovering great classic power pop. As the only real remaining Power Pop Rock band left from the 70s flood of Big Star, Squeeze, The Raspberries...it's great to see something that's this good from a band that deserves it.

The old Cheap Trick albums had an established pattern, one or two great songs, and the rest filler. This album has no filler, great song, each unique, but with that great full rockin Cheap Trick sound. Just consider this their greatest hits, volume 2 without the ten albums it would have normally taken to produce it.

These songs are great, and they work in the same way the new Rolling Stones album did last year- A veteran band that isn't overly self-concious about trying to sound modern or radio-ready, knowing exactly what their strengths are, and doing what they do better than anyone else. Thank God! Play it a million times and it won't get old.

I just bought this album this morning and have already listened through it 5 times This is by far there best album since Dream Police I cannot find a single bad song or filler anywhere on the album One Word: Amazing Buy This Album

i love cheap trick and this stuff is just as great as the old stuff, so if ure a fan of the old stuff you are going to love this

OK, been a fan since waayyy back. Wasn't too keen on their previous songwriting efforts; Let's just say Special one wasn't too special. Add that to the lack of airplay and promotion, and you have a great band with a less than great cd and it went nowhere. Then came the string of re-releases, live concerts on dvd, cd, etc. etc. While we all love their classics, and know they are a great live band, fans like me have been waiting for NEW stuff. Well the waiting is over. This is Trick at their best. Robin couldn't sound better, and the guitars are just what you'd expect, and don't forget Bun E. and Tom. By far the BEST cd to come out in 2006!

Sounds like Cheap Trick at their peak. Great hooks and melodies over a power pop base. Didn't think they had it in 'em anymore but I was overwhelmingly surprised. Fave is 'This Time You Got'. If you're a pop fan this is an oasis in the desert.

This is the best Cheap Trick Cd in years. They have released some great songs lately, but this is a very consistant album. Buy it without hesitation !!!!!

Cheap Trick's latest, Rockford, is their strongest collection since Heaven Tonight. I do not say this lightly. Cheap Trick have put out close to 10 (Dream Police, All Shook Up, One On One, NPP, Standing on the Edge, Lap of Luxury, Woke Up With a Monster and 1997 ) four star albums, since then. Yet, this is by far their best collection in years. A Five Star effort. Rockford puts it all together. Robin Zander is america's premiere Rock 'n' Roll singer, second to none. Rick Nielsen is a great songwriter and axewielder. Tom Petersson's Bass lines are unique and keep the beat along with Bun E's fantastic drumming. These guys are putting on a Rock 'N' Roll clinic for all of you who want to create great music. Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame take notice. Cheap Trick is a still putting out GREAT music. I urge everybody to buy this album and dare you to tell me they are not America's greatest living Rock Band.

I tried to download the album on itunes but it was nowhere to be found. Then while looking at the Cheap Trick site I saw they were at the Best Buy in Schaumburg which is the next town over. Stood in line and talked to the guys for the first time since 1979 when I saw them at Alpine Valley. They are the same cast of characters. Glad to see Rick shaved the beard off. I listened to the autographed CD and it really felt like they have created some new classics. Look forward to seeing them live at Summerfest and Ravinia this year. BUY THIS ALBUM! You will be happy you did so. Buy the Silver Album also. It is the next best live album since the original Budokan Live. Robin if you are reading this, Please have Holland perform Time Will Let You Know with you at Summerfest. Rick, Bun, Tom help make it happen. Cheap Trick should re-release this great Robin Zander song.

Wasn't there an "O Claire" on "Heaven Tonight"? Wasn't there a "Come On, Come On" on "In Color"? The good news is CT isn't just pulling song titles from their past, their pulling inspiration, as well. And it's quite refreshing. "Rockford" is full of the grinding guitar riffs, falsetto background vocals and sense of humor that made CT, CT. Any of the songs would fit comfortable on any of their first 3 albums. Particularly good, are the tracks, "Decaf", "Pefect Stranger", "This Time You Got It, and "Dream The Night Away (not to be confused with "Next Position Please"'s "Dancing the Night Away). Anyway, if you're a fan of the old CT stuff, you'll like the new CT stuff, too.

How great is this? We all hoped they still had an album like this in them and here it is, capturing the power of their live show on a studio album for the first time in a looooooong time. Hear it and know the meaning of "cool."

Well, its about darn time! This is a freakin great album! This is the Cheap Trick I grew up with. Well done guys.

ok i dont usually write cd reviews but after hearing this cd i have to... i have been a cheap trick fan since 86...and this is by far one of the best cheap trick cd's i have ever herd..every song on here is really good my favorite song so far is..if it takes a life time i can not stress enough if your a cheap trick fan you must purchase this..

The Greatest Non-Pretentious rock band is back, and has done it again! The biggest crime in the world is that this band has never gotten it's true "just due"... Maybe someday. But for now they just keep power rockin' America over and over again! Do me a favor and hit me over the head with a two-by-four and throw me head first out a stain glass window if you don't love this CD! Are you kidding me!!!! Go buy this CD immediately!

Been with CHEAP TRICK since the 70's, this album sounds like missing tracks from some of there early albums. Solid stuff, best album in a long time. Great to see them getting back to where they belong......

There's some good, classic-sounding Cheap Trick on this latest effort by the boys from Rockford. However, I wouldn't call it a solid beginning-to-end album, and iTunes isn't selling it at a discount for the entire album. So if you want some new Cheap Trick but unsure if you want to buy the entire album, I suggest starting with #6 This Time You Got It, #7 Give It Away and #9 Every Night and Every Day.

Buy this CD....if you're a Cheap Trick fan or if you just want an amazing collection of great music. There's something for everyone here. Rick, Robin, Tom and Bun E. prove they still have passion for their music and know how to get the job done. Creative, fresh, fun! I tried to find a song that disapointed but had no luck. Buy this album if you want to hear something refreshing and origional. While This band has a string of classics they have truly created a few more with this play list.

Just a great cd of music from beginning to end. Original, hook-laden rock with a unique sound and personality. These guys have worked so hard over the years on the road and in the studio, but somehow on this cd they don't sound like they aged beyond the year 1979. Give'm the love they deserve. Buy the music and see them when they come 'round to kick *ss in your hometown.

Thanks for the new album, it is hard to pick a favorite yet. Anyone familiar with Cheap Trick must get this album...and anyone not familiar with them yet, buy it and become an instant fan ! Way to go..... Paying tribute to your hometown, Rockford, Il. with the album title.

This is a great album! While Special One (their last) had a few great songs, a lot of it wasn't that great (hummer, words). Rockford returns the band to more of a "Lap of Luxury" type of sound, and the new songs are LOADED with awesome hooks and great choruses. This album was worth the wait and I hope it does well for them. Robin is singing really high stuff these days and he has only gotten better as time goes on. To the AHOLE that gave this a low rating based on "Oh Claire" and "Come On Come On Come On" already being issued- "Hey idiot, LISTEN to the album before you review it!" These are not even the same songs at all. Same and Similar titles, but COMPLETELY different songs. If you liked "I Want You to Want Me", "Dream Police", "The Flame", or "My Obsession"- you will LOVE this album. Buy it!

This album is vintage Cheap Trick, And i gotta say Perfect Stranger is my favorite. I think if u like rock u would like this, ah I know u would like it.

I have been following Cheap Trick since their bar days on North Main in Rockford, and I consider their first three albums among the best in history of rock, let alone power pop. I was so entranced by these guys that after a concert in Chicago in the late 1970s, I wrote a scathing letter to a Chicago Tribune music critic who dared to call them 'one-hit wonders.' But in the 1980s and beyond, Cheap Trick faded from my scope - they became irrelevant. I still liked the old stuff, but the new stuff was trite and weak. I saw them in concert a couple years ago in Rockford, and while the music was great, the band looked tired and well ... old. So this new album, 'Rockford,' comes as a shocker. It is power pop with the emphasis on POWER, honestly the best Cheap Trick ever. The energy level is huge, the guitars are slamming, the hooks, powerful. Robin Zander's voice is in pure McCartney/Lennon/Cobain form. He sounds amazing. In fact, if this album came out without a band name on it, you'd swear it was some power-pop sendup by a group of 20-year-olds. It all starts off with an explosive 'Welcome to the World' and you know from the first minute this is a winner. There isn't a weak cut out of the 12. This is teasing, taunting, first-rate power pop. And so to that Chicago Tribune critic, I say, 'I AM VINDICATED!' Cheap Trick proves it will live forever. I am very pleased for my hometown band.

Now that I-tunes finally has all the tracks available, I will give my review ... This album should tell everyone why this band is credited for defining the power-pop genre almost 30 years ago. This one is on par with their self-titled '97 release as well as their 70's treasures. While I like every track, after almost two-dozen listens so far, tracks 1-5 and 12 are all fighting to be my favorite, which I a neat decision to have.

I'm from Rockford!!!! Yeah! My cousin and her husband know Robin and Holland Zander...they r good friends, actually. My cousin-in-law was in a band with Holland called The Snaggs...their album is on iTunes I think...it's called Hot Tomato and Holland is the lead singer. Check them out!! gO rOcKfOrD!!!

I downloaded Rockford yesterday and I have listened to the complete CD 6-7 times already. Every time it just gets better. This is the unique Cheap Trick sound at it's finest. These song makes you remember how rock-and-roll is supposed to make you feel!

I'm a 38 year old male whose ears came alive when at age 10 I first heard the "Budokan" version of "I Want You To Want Me." If I recall, it took just one allowance later to get to DJ's Sound City and purchase the 45-rpm single. Cheap Trick was the sound of 1979, and in the years since that "discovery," I have watched Cheap Trick do it all. Great albums, so-so albums, pandering albums (see the late '80s), and one magnificent comeback in "Cheap Trick (1997)." It's hard to believe that Cheap Trick is still making such consistent music after all the years, but here they are in 2006 releasing "Rockford," one great Cheap Trick album. Why isn't it a bigger deal that this is the same Cheap Trick that released "Budokan" in 1979? How is it that Cheap Trick is rarely mentioned in the same breath as Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones, other bands with legendary longevity? Doesn't Cheap Trick deserve special mention for weathering the years with the same line-up, no break-ups, no crash and burn? In light of this great album it seems a crime that Cheap Trick isn't more revered by critics and fans alike. Are you wondering if Cheap Trick still has it? I'd suggest you download "Come On Come On Come On Come On" for one swift answer. Robin Zander sounds great, as do the gentlemen he fronts. Cheap Trick rock no differently, just as perfectly as they always have. It took me 28 years but I finally realize that Cheap Trick is a Great American Rock Band, and deserves all the accolades the Great American Rock Band is bestowed.
