Planet Her by Doja Cat Album Info

Planet Her is the third studio album by American singer and rapper Doja Cat. It was released on June 25, 2021, by Kemosabe and RCA Records. The album, titled after a fictional planet created by Doja Cat, sees the artist experimenting with sounds that were new and unfamiliar to her, in an attempt to depart from the mainstream trends expected of pop artists. To further explain the name, she likened her musical style's shift in the record to travelling outside of Earth and into outer space. A record that explores and incorporates a wide variety of genres, Planet Her is an amalgamation of pop, R&B and hip hop styles. Lyrically, the album touches on several topics and themes, focusing on femininity, solitude, romance and sexual relationships. The album has spawned five singles: "Kiss Me More (feat. SZA)", "You Right" with The Weeknd, "Need to Know", "Woman" and "Get Into It (Yuh)". The first four songs all charted within the top 15 of both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. Planet Her reached number one in New Zealand and spent four non consecutive weeks at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. Landing inside the top ten in a dozen other countries, it finished 2021 as the tenth best-selling album worldwide. It also broke the record for the biggest opening day for an album by a female rapper on Spotify. Upon release, Planet Her was met with generally positive reviews from music critics, most of whom praised Doja Cat's musical versatility and her vocal deliveries. The album was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, while "Need to Know" was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance. The single "Kiss Me More" received nominations for Record of the Year, and Song of the Year, and won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Bardilover - Every song is a BOP

Doja never disappoints! The versatility is out of this world.. it’s the Afro beats and the up beat tempo that makes this easily a great summer album

apissedoffblaxican - Let’s talk about it

Some of y’all are looking for hot pink and that’s not what this is about. As an artist she is allowed to grow and change. I didn’t even have to preview the songs to know I was gonna buy the album. Stop playing with my girl Doja.

The5HNation - Voice, Stage Presence & Creativity

I’ve heard Doja on the radio a few times (namely Say So & Baby I’m Jealous [Her collab with Bebe Rexha]) and seen her perform on TV as well and I think she has a unique voice, a great stage presence and creativity when it comes to her performances. That’s where the positives end for me sadly and it’s a shame because I think there’s definitely a place for Doja in Dance Pop (with R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap & 80s elements mixed in) next to Dua and Abel (The Weeknd). My biggest problem is she sounds too much like the other female acts on Top 40 & Hip-Hop/R&B radio currently (Ariana, Cardi, Ava, Megan, etc.). Not to mention, the current state of Hip-Hop/Rap is one I’m not the biggest fan of. I feel Doja and her voice are much better suited for Pop/R&B rather than Pop/Hip-Hop. As for Planet Her, the potential for a breakout album, a Future Nostalgia/After Hours-esque album is definitely there but unfortunately after listening to it, there’s only a couple of songs that really stand out to me: You Right (Feat. The Weeknd) & Alone. These are the only 2 songs I feel you really hear how good, unique Doja’s voice is, the rest sound like anything you’d hear on a Cardi, Megan or Nicki album. For her voice, stage presence and creativity + You Right & Alone, I’m giving Doja 3 stars.

FaZe fan boy - Absolutely worth the money!

I was never a fan of hers, occasionally I would listen to her hits songs and hear them on TikTok though out 2019 and 2020. HOWEVER when she dropped this I decided to take my chance, buy the album and give it a chance. I absolutely love the album, I can’t stop listening to it. I’ve fallen in love with her vocals, her style and her lyricism on this record.

We don’t support Dr Luke in 2021. Sorry Doja. Maybe I’ll give your music a chance once you stop allowing a human trash can to write and produce for you.

Ich liebe Lernen - New Fan/This Album is a Vibe

I had never really listened to Doja’s music before. It’s always just been a song or two here and there. But I saw the album was out, and really liked the album cover and thought: you know what, why not just try it? I can definitely say as a real first time listener, that I am impressed. The album is a beautiful blend of pop and hip hop. It’s the kind of album that I would want to listen to while driving through a brightly lit city at night, and just enjoy the vibe. The music is the right amount of sugary and sweet, but with the right edge to not be overly commercial or safe. Doja Cat really balanced the energy in this album as well. It wasn’t too chill or too uptempo, and very cohesive. I definitely want to buy the vinyl version of this if it comes out, and I hope it’s a glittery purple or some kind of rainbow coloring. I truly had so much fun listening to this!

deontebitch - DOJAS SLAY

this this this.

JordanL29 - Love it! ❤️

I don’t do drugs is my favorite song on this album. Definitely a banger for sure! 👌The rest of the songs are all good in there own way too. I wouldn’t be surprised if this album wins multiple awards this year. 😌❤️

Gabriel1630 - Doja Cat is Taking Pop Music in a New Direction!

Doja Cat has managed to infuse many different stylistic endeavors and complexions into a brilliant and cohesive work of art. Harmonic layering throughout the album along with clever and versatile lyrics, rhythm, structure, and melodies make for a collection of songs sure to be enjoyed by anyone willing to give them a try. My personal standouts are “Woman”, “Get Into It (Yuh)”, “Payday”, and “Alone”, often for their enticing and innovative beats, lyrical prowess, and well thought-out nature. Definitely give the album a listen!

Thierry007 - Racist Past...Stripes has not changed

I can't sincerely accept this racist woman, who has make some disgusting comments about the Black Race. WHY HAS THE RAP SCENE REMAINS SO SILENT AS IF SHE NEVER MADE THOSE COMMENTS...??

Anais Bunch - 🤬😑😩😍❤️

She’s fire 🔥 but she is just trying to come back after she said she hates 👩🏾‍🎓people so she has hot music but she hates us black people

hiswalker - A vibe

You can listen to this album all the way through!!!

lil $kully - JID SNAPPED

the options song is a fire vibe, I don’t listen to doja at all but the flow was good, but JID snapped on that beat frfr
