This album came out at a perfect time when Rap and music in general seemed to be at a standstill. To this day this is one of my favorite albums and I truly can not wait until his next album drops. Seeing him in concert at the Nokia Theatre really solidified his influence on me as being one of my favorite artists. Thank you Lupe for restoring my faith in music!

Food & Liquor is EXACTLY what hip hop needs right now. Everything about this album is perfect, and it is awesome to hear real hip hop again. Lupe Fiasco is such a great artist, and he really brings his A game on every single track. This is definitely the most consistent album that i have ever listened to. This album is actually number 4 on my top Rap Albums list, following #1. Illmatic, #2. All Eyez On Me, and #3. The Chronic, and that is saying something! I can't say enough about this album, just buy it!

Find another album that takes you through so many facets of the human persona. Lupe is beyond the 'game' itself. Let's stop rating him with the same criteria as these rappers and accept him as an Artist...b*****s

I first came across Lupe when purchasing the "Late Registration" album. I listened to "Touch the Sky" and i thought Lupe's verse was pretty cool but i didn't look too much into it. Then i read an XXL magazine and it had an article about Lupe and how he's Muslim and skateboards and doesn't smoke or drink. I was really surprised to hear about a positive influential rapper. I was re-reading it to make sure i didn't miss anything. Then i heard the single to "Food & Liquor" entitiled "Kick, Push". Its an awesome single and it is better any other rap single out nowadays. I listened to the single and i knew that i had to buy the album. Sure enough, i bought it and Lupe does not disappoint. The lyrical capability that Lupe posseses is far better than these new rappers in the game. As i listen to the album, i just hope that this is the direction that Hip-Hop is headed in. As Nas album states lets hope we never have to write on a tombstone "Hip-Hop is Dead". ~Adizzle

i'm sorry lupe, yes you are gifted as far as some of your lyrics go, but your voice is enough to drive me insane. this was teh worst rap album i've ever spent money on. the production was horrible, the lyrics were at time smart but mostly repetitve, and there is NO character from lupe. he's a robot!!!! the only highlight on this was kick, push, which was the song that inspired me to buy the album. the booklet inside is cool, but the music as awful!! ONLY BUY IT IF YOU ARE ABLE TO DISREGARD VOICES, ROBOTIC PERSONALITIES, AND BELOW AVERAGE BEATS!!

Food and Liquor is without a doubt the best rap abulm...wait scratch that it is the BEST ALBULM PERIOD of 2006. If you are looking for more Lupe, he has a mixtape entitled Touch The Sky by DJ ENYCE, you won't be dissapointed.

Lupe Fiasco is here to resurrect hip hop. For those who feel hip hop is no longer art and instead filled with violence and over sexual lyrics needs to purchase Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor. In a few years he could be placed in the same sentence as Biggie, Tupac, or JayZ. Lupe for life, I can't remember how many times I listened to this album. I Gotcha is one of my fav songs ever, but get the whole album. Every song is great and once you start listening you'll be addicted. Also get THE COOL.

One of the best albums to come out of 2006. Lupe is a genious. Classic album too, tracks are fire.

This album is the truth. It takes a couple of listens to fully grasp what he is trying to say. Very deep album. The beats and the total production are excellent.

His impact is positive and original. Reminds of concept rap like Digable Planets. But I would say Lupe's the man.

So little can be said that hasn't been said already. Lupe Fiasco's Food And Liquor is easily one of my favorite albums, and a classic in its own right. When you consider the lyrical flow present in songs like "The Cool" and "The Emperor's Soundtrack", it's hard not to like his songs, especially when accompanied by catchy hooks and outstanding production. Best Songs: 1. Kick, Push 2. Hurt Me Soul 3. The Cool 4. The Emperor's Soundtrack 5. Kick, Push II I could list several more right behind these five, as every song is a must-own. Still, if you plan to buy this album, be prepared to skip over "Intro" and "Outro". No real content, just thank-yous and background on the title. No-brained five stars.

This music just got my attention from the start. I was looking for some good rap songs to add to my ipod, and fell upon this. I am greatly pleased with finding Lupe Fiasco! Not only is this a good beat, but he's actually singing, not just talking the whole time, which is a big A++. I would recommend this music to anyone, and have already to my friends, they love it.

first let me start sayin that LUPE FIASCO IS THE MAN!!! lol now let me say that this is an EXCELLENT album, but some of my favorite tracks on Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor, in particular, are: Sunshine, The Instrumental, He Say She Say, and Kick Push 2. Sunshine is a great song that, although is talking about a girl, still does so w/ out degrading women, which is a very good thing that u don't often hear. It simply is a nyce song that u can jus play madd loud outta ya car or somethin nd enjoy too, ya know?! The Instrumental is kinda confusing (deciphering what the message of tha song is, i mean), but when u find out what it is, you'll realize that the song has quite a potent message. it also has such a HOT beat to it too!!! He say she say is another real good track that talks about growing up without a father nd how difficult it can be, but what makes this song truly unique is that the first verse of the song is being spoken through the perspective of the mother, and the second verse of the song is being spoken through the child. Kick Push 2, in my opinion, was the perfect song to end the whole album with because it is such a tight song that, if anything, is better than the original kick push (but the original kick push is a hot song, as well). Well, don't wanna make this review of mine any longer than it already is lol well im lookin foward to lupe fiasco's next album, but for now, check out some of his mixtapes (b/c they're madd nyce) and lastly...PEACE!!

This is somewhere between Kayne West and old school rap. My only complant is by buying it on itunes you don't get to see the pictures in the album cover, and there some interesting picture to say the least

Which one is better The Cool Or this one????????

Lupe is becoming increasingly amazing from his mixtapes, to his cds. It's all incredible and worth getting. This is worth getting. I would gladly have paid 20 bucks for this cd. That's how amazing it is. The lyrics are all sharp, meaningful and so far away from the money and car and bling rap of today's mainstream. From Real to Kick Push II, you will not be bored. This is the most played cd on my iPod and is reminiscent of NaS' Illmatic and It Was Written cds. Two great cd's come together with a new person and still make one amazing cd. Worth the buy.

Lupe Fiasco has a real flow to him. most of his songs tell a story my Favorite song from him is Kick Push. this guy's lyrics are the best he doesnt have to swear to make rhymes or give him that tough edge he doesnt need it btw this song was written by a 13 yr old who aside from lupe listens to pure gangsta rap

Hip-Hop ain't dead and it never was. Lu stands as living proof among many other MC's and it would seem that Kanye and Com Sense have some company in the Chi. Although there is a lot of original hip hop out there, Lupe Fiasco is a breath of fresh air in a smoggy mainstream filled with cancerous and purpose-less money raps. But we're not here to talk about that. Food and Liquor is a complete record. Period. It's diverse, it's very personal, it's thought provoking and it's worth coming back to again and again. Lupe is the type of artist that when you LISTEN to his lyrics you'll pick out new little details and clever lines every time, but it is ooooooh so easy to get caught up in the amazing production, samples and vocals provided by some amazing guest appearances (ex. Gemini and Sarah Green). SkooterKSU (iTunes customer and Reviewee of this record) said that aren't any songs that really grab you as far as mainstream single which I would agree with, but he also tried to say that Lupe's album isn't strong enough to keep the casual listener sustained and I completely disagree. Although there aren't many songs with catchy hooks here, I find myself repeating a lot of verses along side Lupe or singing along to some of the addictive vocals. One thing I must say though, you need to LISTEN to this album for the full effect, so you may truly appreciate it. This isn't Lil' Jon or 50 cent. Lu has words worth hearing. Guess that's all I have to say. I reccomend buying the CD, don't get it from iTunes. I prefer to have the album art n' what not. It's up to you. Make the right decision. - And on a side note. I've gotten friends who either A. Don't like hip-hop, or B. Only like Mainstream to vibe to this album if that tells you anything. It's got something for everyone. Good music is good music, what else can be said?

Lupe Fiasco is is quickly becoming one of the best rap artists out there today. Food & Liquor is one of the best hip-hop albums in 2006. This album is just great all the way through, which seems hard for artists do. I recommend you buy the whole album, but you should definitely buy these five songs: 1. Real- This whole song is completely true. People don't know what real hip-hop is because they've been given crap and made to think it's gold. There's a big difference. 2. I Gotcha- Lupe has a knack for taking the strangest things, like animated skunks, and making it into a good line. It's pretty much one big tongue twister, but it's one of his best. 3. The Cool- Lupe probably could've been an author as well. He shows his large imagination in this song, which is about a gangster rising from the dead, and going back to his old hood. Great song. 4. He Say She Say- Another great song about a boy growing up without a father, and his mother's and his plea to get him back in his life. 5. Sunshine- It's a romantic song about a man finding love in a club.

This album is a classic. It belongs in the top 5 in hip/hop history. Lupe is a very talented writer. I believe he's the greatest lyricist out there.. im a huge Jay-Z fan but Lupe is a better lyricist. Too bad he doesn't put out that many albums.

I just bought this CD and I have no regrets his lyrics are great, and the beats are very regognizeable my favorite songs are The Instrumental (which is not instrumental) He Say She Say, The cool, hurt me soul, and kick push 1 & 2 GET THIS ALBUM I HAD DOUBTS BUT NOW HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES

while mims just killed hip-hop with "this is why im hot," lupe fiasco and nas, kanye and others are bringing it back to life. the instrumental is an amazing song, anyone should buy it right now, but the whole ablum is worth listening to. american terrorist is not necessarily as catchy, but its verses are sick. and kick, push, daydreamin and i gotcha are all great singles.

I like Lupe, because he makes a lot of sense in his music. His beats are FIREE, and the lyrics are too! I like that he raps about real issues that go on in Americs (something that rappers aren't doing much of these days) so buy it. SERIOUSLY.

lupe is a rising who's beats really help when i skate, he truly inspires me. with lupe's imagination and talent he is sure to go far...if you buy this album or any songs by lupe it will change you a lil on the inside. Hopefully one day lupe will over throw the supposed king of hip hop jay-z.

This album is great! The lyrics are playful and carefully chosen. He seems to mean what he says. The best part is that the background beat is actually relaxing to listen to. Try out songs like: "Hurt me Soul", "Kick Push", "The Outro", "He says She says" and you'll understand...

In my top 5 favorite albums of all time. There's a lot of jazzy type, smooth beats that Lupe is able flow over perfectly. Great wordplay and wonderful messages in every track. Lyrically, 'Hurt Me Soul' is my favorite song, hands down. Check Lupe out.

This is one of the most revolutionary albums of all time. Lupe proves that you don't have to talk about girls or cars to make a good rap album. Here are my 5 favorite songs on the album: 1. Kick Push: One of the best songs ever. It has a great, simple beat. Lupe's weezy, start and stop style has some wierd, strange appeal, that had me hooked the first time I heard it. A song about skateboarding, Fiasco is willing to visit new subjects. 2. Daydreamin feat. Jill Scott: An EXTREMELY addicting song! It might not appeal to you at first, but listen to it a few times: the lyrics are very interesting, and the song itself is actually really good too. 3. Pressure feat Jay-Z: Most songs with Jay-Z are pretty good, and this keeps the tradition going. I love the chorus: listen to the preview and you can here it. Plus, it has a great beat. 4. The Instumental feat. Jonah Matranga: Reminds me strangely of "changes" by Tupac. A fast song with a soft beat, with another great chorus. 5. I Gotcha: A song that could be a lot better if the beat were different. The beat is terrible. However, in this song, Lupe shows that he can rhyme almost without breathing, sort of like ludacris. A GREAT ALBUM all the way through. Buy every song and you won't be dissapointed.
