Better later than never - Can't stop listening

Just got into the Meeces in the last few years after a friend gave me a bunch of random tracks. I recently just purchased the complete Good News album........and damn if I can't stop listening to it! Great album for just about everything I do....except reading. With a touch of everything from the sweet-little-tune of "The World At Large" and the I-can-walk-through-any-inner-city-down-town-like-I-own-the-place "Bukowski" to the freak-out-by-yourself-in-dancing-convulsions "The Devil's workday"; truly an album for all occasions. Recommended for any budding Mouser fan or even just for the sonic-variety seeker.

Rebuker92 - Not a fan of most of it

I am a fan of their songs ocean breathes salty and float on, I really like those catchy rhythms and chorus parts, and if you like those songs I recommend ocean breathes... Float on and one chance. To me, everything else is garbage.

You can't make me - Amazing Band

Not their best album, but there's good songs. Ocean Breathes Salty, Float On and Satin in a Coffin are probably my favorite on this album.

AWESOME! and it's cool. - the most Modest Mouse you'll ever hear!!!

the best Modest Mouse Album yet!!! Just tellin it like it is

Gratisfaction_ - Nice!!!

I'm absolutely inlove with this!!! The guitar tones remind me allot of one of my favorite bands, Foals.

BlargHonkBlarg - Excellent!

Superb songwriting, I must say. Float on is my favorite. It is somewhat strange, but has a catchy rythym and sounds neat. Their singer has a cool, rough voice. Love thier songs!

micromonkey - Ok listen up

This applies to all those morons who only like the songs float on or world at large..if that's all ya know go spend your money elsewhere..I'm tired of all you nincompoops only knowing those two songs. Modest mouse has done a helluva lot better music than those two songs..I mean the first album I ever heard was Moon and Antarctica for crying out loud..I think the best song off of good news was The Veiw or Bukowski..but not those two..so to all those guitar hero modest mouse float on fans..pack it

sophia235154 - amazing.

This is one of the most amazing albums i have ever heard. i just cant stop listening to it. Modest Mouse is the best. I recommend Float On, World at Large, and Ocean Breathes Salty if you are not going to buy the whole album. But I really hope you do buy the whole thing, almost every song in this album is great. BUY IT.

xXSamjam!Xx - Bukowski

Freaking great song hahaha

Guitarplayer1456 - Float on... Goes on?

The first time I heard the show goes on I was pretty mad because it sounds just like float on and this definitely came out first.

Lutheran mom - um lupe fiasco much ???

listen to this then to lupe fiasco ,his song the show goes on is verry identical i dont know who copied who but float on is the better of the two by far

dab2012 - ...........and?

Not to hate on the Mouse, but this band gets a whole lot of credit on the rock and Alternative scene, and for what? The edgy sporadic style of singing used by Isaac, and the odd (while not unique) melodic choices, in my opinion seemed somewhat grating on the nerves. More so than that, this album in particular lacks in originality, and it's references are staggeringly obvious. With the exception of "Float on" and "World at Large", this album in particular knocks pretty hard off of Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand (which "happen" to be listed below), with respect to the typical rock establishment. Dig around people, don't just fallow the masses. There are sooo many more fulfilling and innovative groups out there who deserve the four & half stars far more than this band does.

band lover 23432 - Sweet!

love the melody of the songs

Tim Marcus - CRAP!!!!!

I can't find anything good with this band. It's a bunch of off-pitch screaming and terrible sounding guitars.

Spazzkiller - :D

Love this album. The simplicity of each of the songs' concepts does little to explain the crazy lyrics and banjo solos. The best on the album is "The View" and is my favorite song ever.

Garj1 - Float on!

The kids love the beat. Good song!

Suicide DuDe - Modest Mouse ROCKS

This album is awesome and the songs are genius. The album "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank" is Better.

GsndvxecvA near - Amazing

This is my favorite band the whole album is good

CRABZ MAN - BUY THIS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

THIS ALBUM IS AN ORCASTRA OF AWSOME, I LISTEN TO IT SO MUCH I MAY DIE!!!!!!!! BUY IT NOOW FOOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

backflip22 - Its mainstream but...

So as i started to listen to older MM i realized many people dont like this album because its "mainstream". I just wanted to point out that despite the fact that it is a little mainstream, its still a fantastic album and not to be ignored. at the same time, dont ignore the older Modest Mouse either. Because its all fantastic music.

lil rocka - Great Album?

Good album but really itunes? $.99 for the 9 sec horn intro

El Jake - FLOAT ON!

ALL RIGHT ALREADY WE'LL ALL FLOAT ON!

dogsrul23 - .....

I bought a few of these songs like 3 years ago, and they were 99 cents like it should be! My favorite song was float on, and now it's the most popular song in this album, and they make it 1.29! just because it's popular doesn't mean you have to raise the price! I thought you guys were cool and were about the music, not the money. I guess not.

Sleepin - Get past float on

Just because you don't like float on doesn't make this a bad album, songs like satin in a coffin and dance hall capture the old mm with the dirty grungy feel while songs like world at large have the softer gravity rides everything feel, I know their no where near as good as those songs bit that doesn't change the fact that they are still amazing songs, and on my own personal note this album houses one of what I believe is one of the greatest mm songs of all time "bukowski" go ahead if you don't agree bash on me for it but that still doesn't change the fact that this is still and amazing album

acejennings - Genius (:

Bukowski, satin in a coffin, the world at large, the ocean breathes salty, and yes float on are just outstanding :)

Joey Onions - good but,.....

This is good album but not as good as the older albums

Lynette24 - Bukowski

By far the best song ever!

Tdeufsgbvdgj - Annoyed

Bought the world at large cuz it's a great song and then when it was downloading it said error and now it just sits there and will not download anybody know how to fix this I was my 1 29 back!

TheManPunisher - Bukowski

Pretty good the best songs are bukowski, ocean breathes salty, and world at large.I think float on is way too overrated. Black cadillacs is also good.

82045 - Ok

Modest mouse has pretty good music but they can't sing their best sond is float on

All Hail the Pie - It

Al the "true fans" say that this album is where Modest Mouse began to fall. I am not really a "true fan", meaning that I didn't start out listening to This Is A Long Drive and Tube Fruit (heck, I wasn't even AROUND when Lonesome Crowded West hit shelves), but I can tell you that there is nothing bad about this record at ALL, not even compared to their old records. The Mouse is just as good as they ever were on this record. There aren't any bad songs, really, and everything is memorable. I'd suggest Float On, Bury Me With It, Ocean Breathes Salty, Satin In a Coffin, World At Large, This Devil's Workday...I could go on and on, so why not just buy it. 10 out of 10!

courtanator - idkkkk;))

awesome job I love "float on!!!! "

Turtleman137 - Float on

I love the song float on. Definitely buy!

Lollydrop1 - Hypnotic

I listen to this album alsmost every day, I love how their music sounds. It is so hypnotic, The World at Large is my favorite one, I could listen to it all day long. I could not compare this to any band because they sound so unique :]

Leviathan 88 - Best indie around

I grew up on Modest Mouse and they are absolutelly no less than completly amazing. Check out The View,Satin In A Coffin, and Bukowski. Bukowski is my favorite song on the album. I don't think this album is the best but definately gives the sometimes sarcastic, sometimes dark, and sometimes life-defining songs that only add up better in an album.

LKSMSC - Hardcore

The songs on this album were penned to send positive vibes, unfortunate that the need to be "hardcore" brings the obligatory obcenity and negative references to our creator.

Vrait - Great

Every album and EP Modest Mouse puts out is amazing. If someone rates any of their albums below 4* it's for the most ignorant reasons. And thus those people should be ignored. I started with We were dead before the ship sank, and you know what? Going backwards through the albums and what not, its all GREAT! Rating 1 or 2* because you don't like the way they changed their sound, is ignorant and stupid. And you are therefore 1. An Idiot. 2. Not a true fan of Modest Mouse. And I hate to you break it to you, but Isaac doesn't care what you think of his music. So go cry some more, because they stuff is great!

you dont need my name - they just whant to make great music!

they remind me of other artists that, insted of making music for thier genres, wrote music that was just good poeple that critizied this album's music being "too mainstream" are no better than the FOLK SNOBS that critizied bob dylan for switching over to eltcric guitar

swedoc - Nice Band

These guys remind me of The Violent Femmes except cooler This band is very good and i'll recommend this band to anyone

Joseph17 - Awsome

Modest Mouse. You are amazing. I didn't just figure this out, but I did just feel the urge to say it. So I'm saying it. . .

NatedoggC - Beautiful

Some say theyve gone mainstream here. I say no. end of story some really really good songs: 1. Float on 2. Satin in a Coffin 3. Ocean Breathes Salty 4. The World at Large

xXCoLdPlAyFaNaTiCXx - Original Modest Modest

This is one of those albums that you enjoy it the most when you listen to it all the way. This album is chalk full of good songs such as The View, Ocean Breathes Salty, Black Cadillacs, Float On, Satin In A Coffin, One Chance, The World At Large, and my personal favorite The Good Times Are Killing Me. This album flows really well. Although it is not as good as their new album, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which is practically flawless, it is still very good. I just wish Modest Mouse would come out with their albums faster, but i guess you cant rush sucess.

ushereminemlilwayne - Awesome

It sounds exactly like the show goes on Right? Check it out

u know i fly - brilliant and unique

Modest mouse is truly a band a musical genuis. While the lead singer has little twords the quinteicential vocal "talent" he uses his voice in a way almost completly original to music. The music is briliant and bakcs up the vocals quite well in adtitioon to that the actual lyrics are just enjoyable and understandable. If u like this cd you should check out there other cd's and a band call Brotherhood of the Black Squirel. completely briliant and original i dont think theres that many bands with the talent lik modest mouse.

Anelker - Float on

Ehh ok if you like off pitch but float on was pretty good I think they sound just stop the weird yelling they do and sing it right and I would listen to them more, I'll listen to float on a few times and float on from the band

Ella Lindokken - SO SO SO GOOD!

i love this album by modest mouse. my favorite is "ocean breathes salty" and "the world at large".

heoairheoaihr - FANTASTIC

bukowski alone gets this album 5 stars, but every other song being amazing doesn't hurt either ;)

Jim30000 - Bukowski

Personally, I believe this to be the best song on the album. Thanks.

Modest Mouse is awesome - Excellent Album

I don't get why fans of older modest mouse don't like this album. Just because it sounds good doesn't mean it's selling out. Not that their older songs don't sound good.

blister in the sun '83 - great album from a great year

i first heard float on in 2004 and up to today still remains as one of the famous songs of that year, float on!
