Have you ever heard a bad score by Hans Zimmer?? With each album he releases, his music is more perfect! First came "Gladiator", then "Pirates Of The Caribbean", "The Da Vinci Code", "Frost / Nixon" and then "The Dark Knight". Better than the other. There is no way to decide which is best. Congratulations, Mr. Zimmer!!!

Wow, Wow, Wow, ive heard plenty of soundtracks in my short life but this was a great thumbs up! The music plays into each song to the point you dont know when the song actually changed. The one downfall i can think of is that the songs all sound like each other with only a few differences. But well played and well done, well worth more then the skim 10$

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have done it again. They, along with director Christopher Nolan, have created another masterpiece like"Batman Begins." Each track delivers fantastic music. My favorites are Like a Dog Chasing Cars (heroic, grand), And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad (heroic in a more serious matter), and Why So Serious? (devilish, psychotic). If you like fast-paced epics, grand (and sometimes frightening) noises, and great film music, buy this album. You will not be disappointed.

Listening to "Why So Serious?" makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Just listening to it I can imagine the terror of the Joker. Great Song!

Oh my god, how can i even begin. Why so serious is definitely one of the only soundtrack pieces that is as hard core, bad a*s as Disturbed "Down with the sickness" (but only because its the Joker's theme, which by the way i think is the sickest villian/hero, yeah i said hero, EVER). The Joker pwnz!!! Harvey two face is obviously harvey dent's theme that shows the in-depth and emotional persona of an essential character...beautiful. Pure gold. Like a Dog Chasing Cars....MY FAVORITE on the album! BEAUTIFUL and INSPIRING and actually, an awesome song to fall asleep listening to. The middle section is the best...this part i think is the theme for Batman and the Joker's relationship, but i dont know, its just what i got out of listening to it (since i love both batman and the joker). Overall, every song is a master piece. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, all i can say is thank you both for bringing such musical genius into the world. As much as i liked Batman begins, i dont know, but the danny elfman music just wasnt doin it for me. But with Dark Knight, you guys hit it right on. Hans Zimmer, if for some reason you ever read this, just letting you know that you are my favorite composer and one of my idols!!! I love every score you have ever done and i can recognize your style if its something i havent heard before!! YOU ROCK!! Long live the Joker and rest in peace Heath. WHY SO SERIOUSSSSS??????

It's hard to choose a favorite song among Hans Zimmer's body of work. Like a Dog Chasing Cars would have to be one of his best pieces.

The Dark Knight is the BEST movie that I have seen in my life. Seriously. Bale and Ledger play their roles with brilliant charisma, raw action, and all-around entertainment. The music in the movie complements the rawness of the movie. "Agressive Expansion" is my favorite track on the soundtrack and intrigues you in every aspect of the movie. If you agree, then buy the movie and the soundtrack.

"...another bleak, modernistic soundscape that distances itself even more aggressively from Danny Elfman's previous orchestral heroics..." Which is exactly why I prefer Elfman's grand, "Korngold/Williams" old-style - and most of all FUN - score to this depressing, sleep-inducing mess. The best thing you can say about this score is that it's a perfect fit for the film, which is also a depressing bore as far as I'm concerned!

I've got to say...Hans Zimmer is going to die a famous composer :) He will always be remembered for all the great scores he has come up with. Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Da Vinci Code,The Pirates Trilogy are wonderful to listen to :)

Especially in this day and age, movies are too many in number while genuinely great movie scores are too few. The Dark Knight stands out, in my opinion, among many other scores of the decade. Granted it is not the best nor the most original, but even those themes that many have recognized as being used only too much by Zimmer take on a new life in this soundtrack. Zimmer and Howard created something new, despite the accusations of borrowing. Maybe not new notes, but new sounds. Why So Serious? is without a doubt one of the most unique (and let's face it, risky) sounding pieces of score. Enough so to make new comers to the movie ask, "What's that noise?" It is strange, for sure. But that makes it that much more interesting, and the song itself is really quite engaging. The good thing about the Batman Begins and Dark Knight scores is that they complement each other. If there is a bit of music in one of the movies that you can't find in its soundtrack, check the soundtrack for the other movie. I think you should buy this whole album. There is a still an underlying diversity of sounds and feels and tones and textures that you can't explore unless you own the whole thing. A Dark Knight, the last track, is enough to make anyone buy the whole album. I would suggest buying the whole thing just so you can experience this song. It is definitely one of my soundtrack favorites. This soundtrack has more action than its predecessor, but still has great reflective moments and portions that lift you up, A Dark Knight being no exception. Here is a list of the tracks in order of my favorite (at the top) to my least favorite; though all are great and deserving of equal treatment: 1. A Dark Knight - A suite of major themes, though their renditions and variations in this particular track are not used in the movie. Check out the Bonus Disc for the versions of each portion actually used in the movie itself. It goes from grandiose, heroic, sweeping, soaring strings and percussion to grinding, Joker tension. It has a bit of everything, which I like. 2. Watch the World Burn - One of the darkest pieces of movie score, if not the darkest I have ever heard. A truly beautiful arrangement for strings that challenges Barber's "Adagio" for tension and deepness. A good song if you are depressed. 3. Like a Dog Chasing Cars - The meat is a theme more prominently used in this movie, and it is wonderful. This is like the Molossus of this soundtrack, both in scale and tone. The opening minute and a half or so is the only part actually in the movie, but that only makes this heroic track more special. 4. Agressive Expansion - Opening with the two-tone, minor chord new Batman theme that made Zimmer's Begins famous. It continues with curious sound effects and a mounting tension that builds up to the Joker's crashing of the party, leaving you to dwell on his grating theme. 5. Why So Serious? - nuff' said. 6. Harvey Two-Face - Apparently some of Howard's work, and some of his best. Though this theme was introduced in Begins, its variations and use in this movie are still amazing with its beautiful climax and proud conclusion. Definitely a must-have for this soundtrack. 7. Introduce a Little Anarchy / And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad - These two are brother songs. They go hand in hand and are both from exciting, action portions of the movie. Though Anarchy is in my opinion better and reminisent of Dog Chasing Cars, track 10 is still engaging and both are prime examples of the energetic feel of the movie. 8. I'm Not a Hero - certainly makes Batman seem like a hero with its driving action and tensions. This involves some of the classic action cues and gives some of the ones that didn't get a chance on the Begins soundtrack to find a home. Another must-have. 9. A Little Push - Dent's darker theme, and some of the most curious, deepest, and frankly perverse orchestral sounds I have heard. 10. I Am the Batman - A lonely sounding song, yet poignant when coupled with the imagery of Batman perched atop Gotham's heights. Again it makes the Joker's theme just as tasty as the last use. 11. Agent of Chaos - In between the brother songs, and yet another action track. Since its events in the movie cut back and forth, the dramatic moments of urgency take breaks of respite with more subdued yet ominous and foreboding moments to make way for Joker dialogue. A decent track, but I don't listen to it as much. Contains tense action as well as the tender piano theme for Rachel and the Waynes. (sounds like a band name) 12. Always a Catch / Blood on My Hands - Nothing special as they are predominantly reworkings of other themes on this disc. I have only listened to Blood on My Hands a handful of times, since it is exactly a portion of Harvey Two-Face. Always a Catch is a little more interesting depicting the batpod face-off. These are the only ones that are not up to par with the rest. I definitely find this soundtrack one of the critical scores of the decade. It has moments musically unmatched by other soundtracks of the past decade. I highly recommend it. Highly. The whole thing.

IT IZ BEAST!!!!! JOKER PWNZ!!!

I am astounded on how Zimmer and Howard both work well together to put together iconic pieces that will now and forever be true Batman music. Im not a Hero, like a dog chasing cars, Introduce a Little Anarchy and A Dark Knight are my favorites and catch the feeling of Batman fight for injustice with the Joker causing chaos. I can not wait to see and hear these two composers come together a 3rd time for the next batman film.

This entire album is stunning! No more words needed. An amazing buy. You will not be disappointed. Even if you listen to all the previews and are still hesitant, I plead with you to at least buy AGENT OF CHAOS. It is without doubt the best song on the entire album, beautiful, sorrowful, and absolutely amazing to me. The haunting piano intermingled with quietly determined cellos... and at the end is without doubt one of the saddest parts in any song I've ever heard, sad and utterly beautiful. It clearly depicts Harvey Dent's tragedy, Rachel's death, and Batman's despair. The best song to me other than Agent of Chaos is A Dark Knight, which is also an AMAZING song. Also get the extra songs also offered on iTunes. On those, my favorites are A Watchful Guardian, Decent Men in an Undecent Time, and Halfway to Hong Kong. Bravo JNH and HZ!!!

A powerful and erie soundtrack akin to Keith Ledger's acting - a masterful performance

I like modern soundtracks that stray from the classic example of a John Wayne Movie. Sadly, this is a failed attempt. Danny Elfman did perhaps the best superhero soundtracks ever for Batman and Batman Returns, but I'm afraid Hans Zimmer is nowhere near that status. All of his soundtracks are dull, hollow in sound, and lack any memorable sound. I understand that the movie, which I might add was good, but wouldn't have received as good reviews if it weren't for the tragic death of Heath Ledger, didn't want to have a definate theme, but come on, IT'S A SUPERHERO MOVIE!!! It needs to be treated with some classic respect to the old days of Batman, not go completely and utterly modern and weird. The music is not good, it simply doesn't make me think of Batman, it is more suited for noise, which, I might add, about 75% of the album is. Once again, I love modern, different music that strays from the norm, but this isn't good, period. Hans Zimmer has to be the most overrated composer alive. DO NOT BUY!!!

Gosh, this is good. I have never heard something like this that I, well, enjoy! This+movie+actors=5 MILLION STARS!

I previewed all the songs, and I am amazed at how good the music is. It definitely retells the story of the dark knight musically. i love all the emotions within each of the songs. here's my advice to you: buy this soundtrack especially if you really loved the movie.

I like movie scores because they make me feel part of the movie. This movie score is a masterpiece. The songs "Aggressive Expansion" and "Why So Serious?" are really recognizable, too. They are also my favorites.

I bought two tracks from this album. The music is good but the sound recording quality is not that gr8.. I hv a Bose system that did not help..

The Joker's theme, Why So Serious? is amazing, and stands out above all the other amazing scores. Check out the remixes, too. :)

Honestly, Why So Serious blew me away. The one note conveyed all the sinister, homocidal, demented charisma that was Heath Ledger's Joker. Han's Zimmer did amazing with the others too.

Words can't describe the very powerful emotions felt in this sound track. Just like the movie, It's a masterpiece. 

The Dark Knight soundtrack is an absolute work of art. The music is so well written and performed! If there is one movie album to but, it is definately this one.

I love this movie and the music so much that it made me want to watch it over and over again. Hans Zimmer is the man when it comes to creating the music for the character and the scene. This is a masterpiece of a soundtrack.

This is by far the best album that I have ever purchased. I cannot believe how amazing these two men are!

If this album hadn't been disqualified for an Oscar, I would have won hands down. All I can say. Absolutley fabulous music. It is absolutely not a waste of money. Trust me.

Out of all of the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard that I own, this one is by far the best. The music can be powerful and peaceful as well. Do not go by the popularity by the songs, I would say there are atleast 8 tracks found here that I worth having. My top 3 would go as follows: 1. And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad 2. Like a Dog Chasing Cars 3. I'm Not a Hero Also, the majority of the tracks go for a decent time. You don't see any music here that is 45 seconds like you would find in other albums. Be sure to check out the collectors addition as well which has some good music.

I think the music really made Dark Knight stand out! Zimmer and Howard are two of my favorite composers now!

Love the music but where is the movie?

I have heard many critics say that the soundtrack to both recent Batman installments do not do the Caped Crusader justice. I however disagree. Ever since I listened to the blisteringly haunting "Batman Begins" score, I was hooked to the music of the symphonic masterminds of Hans Zimmer and James Newton-Howard. The intense, percussive gusto of Zimmer and the warm, sweeping strings of Newton-Howard illustrate the two sides of the Batman. In "The Dark Knight", it only gets better. The Joker's theme is added as well as Harvey Dent's. I swear that every time I hear "Why So Serious?", a shiver runs up my spine as I remember Ledger's tantalizing performance that captured audiences everywhere. Harvey Dent's theme is majestic and at the same time rather strange and off-key. However, this album did not seem as captivating and mysterious as "Batman Begins" did: perhaps it was because the song titles were all types of bats. But "The Dark Knight" is still a note-worthy addition to the set of scores, and I am willing to give both Zimmer and Newton-Howard hearty applause for their work.

People, Aggressive Expansion is only at the top of the list because the sample is misleading. There are only about 30 seconds of "exciting music" in that song; the rest of the time is taken up by extremely dull background noise. A much, much better purchase is Introduce a Little Anarchy, because it plays the action theme for the entire duration of the song. The bottom line: don't buy Aggressive Expansion, instead buy Introduce a Little Anarchy.

Dear Mr. Zimmer, Please let me applaud you for your work on Pirates of the Carribean and Sherlock Holmes. Both of those scores were brilliant. This soundtrack however, undermines the cinematic beauty of the film. Your repetitive shrieking noises are not eerie or suspense building, but similar to that awful feedback one gets when microphones are not triangularly configurated correctly. I actually plugged my ears at points in this movie, such as the ferry scene. This score does not to your genius justice. Please try harder next time. --- A fan of (most of) your work.

ok let me just say this... the dark knight soundtrack is TOTALLY worth it!!!! The movie is awesome and the soundtrack is awesome too!!! you can picture almost every part of the movie when you listen to it!! Rating:5!

This music is great, even though it's just a score. The songs get stuck in your head, and they totally set the mood for the movie. It's the first score from a movie that I've liked enough to actually want to buy the songs.

This movie was great, it's my favorite. The soundtrack adds more to the performances in it, and I can always tell a Hans Zimmer compostition when I hear it. I really think that the songs are fantastic, especially "Agressive Expansion" and "Like A Dog Chasing Cars". "A Dark Knight" and "Why So Serious?" give the music a real emphasis to it, with "Why So Serious?" obviously being the Joker's (Heath Ledger) main theme. The roles and music of this movie come together to create something worth watching and listening repeatedly. The music varies from a fast paced, demanding tempo, to a dramatic, depressed feel with quiet notes. In many, percussion dominates the other parts, giving the music a rhythmic quality. It really makes you feel what the main characters are feeling at the time; and by doing that let's you see more inside the characters than the words and actions they say or do can describe. This is very true for the Joker, who very little is known about. In my opinion, the music lets you see a bit into his mind, which you'll find is extremely complicated and guarded. The music also describes many of the scenes that appear in the movie, varying from Bruce Wayne's/Batman's (Christian Bale) penthouse, to the dark streets of Gotham being terrorized by the Joker. Overall, if you haven't bought the soundtrack, but loved the movie, it is a great investment and will have you playing it over and over again on your iPod.
