Room On Fire Album Download

Room On Fire by The Strokes Album Info

Room on Fire is the second studio album by American indie rock band The Strokes. Released in October 2003, it follows 2001's Is This It and includes three singles: "12:51", "Reptilia", and "Under Control." Grammy-winning producer Nigel Godrich was initially in charge of production, but The Strokes felt he made the songs seem "soulless". The band went back to work with Is This It producer Gordon Raphael. The album features a slightly smoother sound than its predecessor. The bass guitar is less present except for several moments when it becomes the focal point of the song. The album title Room on Fire was drawn from a line in "Reptilia": "The room is on fire as she's fixing her hair." The record received positive reviews upon release. It reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and debuted at number four in the U.S. on the Billboard 200, where it went on to sell 597,000 units by October 2006 and was certified Gold.

roomonfire24 - one of my top 3 favorite albums. here's why:

made in the rush of Is This It hype and expectations set high. the best possible execution of a 2nd album... in that situation, I think. despite its apathetic demeanor, look deeper. the album is characteristic of the Strokes- every detail was planned out in full. it doesn't attempt to be what it's not. take something from each track, then sit back and think of it as a follow-up album.

Moscovo - Sweet Album!

A must have for Strokes fans! Worth every penny!

Notorious B.E.N. - Laid Back Masterpiece

My favorite has got to be 12:51. That song has an amazing riff reminiscent of "You're Just What I Needed" by The Cars.

The King of Bling and Bubble Gum - Nice!

What I love about these guys is how perfect the lengths of their songs are. Songs are like a skirt. You do not want the song to be all long and boring but you do want it to be just short enough to keep it intersting. That's exactly what they did.

KelsGross - Love

This album is great. It's just fun to listen to and before you know it you'll know all the words and Reptilia will be stuck in your head for a month.

Lainer - Incorrect release date

Really Jan. 1, 1990? Fix the release date iTunes.

oceanfactory6 - this is to good

started listening to this album when i was like 5 and saw them live.... i dont know why but this album...and band,,, is just magical. cant put it in words how this makes me feel in a good way. But if your even thinking alitlle about buying this please dont say no! its like to good to be true

Spjalego - Their Weakest Album

But that's really not saying anything at all. While Is This It is probably the best album of the decade, and First Impressions of Earth expands their style outward, this album is is more of a stale Is This It. It has incredible tracks, but some pretty mediocre tracks too. Still, it is the Strokes, who are arguably the best new artists of the 2000s decade. And I cannot say I hate any of these tracks. It really is an excellent album, but is about one notch down from FIOE and two from Is This It. I don't want people to think I hate this album. I just don't love it like Is This It. "What Ever Happened?" โ€“ 10/10 An excellent opener "Reptilia" โ€“ 11/10 Easily on the top 5 Strokes songs. "Automatic Stop" - 10/10 One of the songs that recaptures the Is This It feel "12:51" โ€“ 10/10 Also catchy and excellent "You Talk Way Too Much" โ€“ 7/10 The first stale song, it's not bad, but not great "Between Love & Hate" โ€“ 4/10 The weakest song. It's like a failed mix of Alone Together and The Modern Age. "Meet Me in the Bathroom" โ€“ 9/10 One of the songs that recaptures the Is This It feel "Under Control" โ€“ 6/10 the second stale song, it's probably the weakest of these "The Way It Is" โ€“ 7/10 Another stale song "The End Has No End" โ€“ 9/10 One of the songs that recaptures the Is This It feel "I Can't Win" โ€“ 9/10 An excellent close for the album, it's another song that recaptures the Is This It feel

OrionStarSeed - Flawless.

The Strokes will never go down as a one-hit-wonder. They did it again, created an album where EVERY song is amazing, there is not one weak song on here.

Samawsom11 - ๎„๎„

By Samawsom11 still LOVE it!!!

vmedina1988 - wonderful follow up

it seems to me this would be the bands favorite album there influences are heavy in here making a refreshing sound

guitarman8383 - strokes

Great...but the date is definitely wrong on this it came out in 2003, not 1990

elric_fan - hm...

yeah, why are there 2 room on fires i know ones itunes plus, but whats the real difference once agian this album is ssssplendid>! and once again why the lack of reviews....

Revolution 1 - I Love It!

It's so good! Their best yet! Not that I don't like Is This It or First Impressions Of Earth, those are terrific too. It's just literally every song on here is *****. Some of the best Alternative I've ever heard.

vivie.m - The Strokes have done it again!

Although this album sounds different than their first, it still manages to shine. As always, The Strokes have created a work of art.

PenguinMusik - It's ok, just not my favorite

Most of the songs are pretty good, the guitar parts are awesome, and the beat is clear. My faves are Reptilia, 12:51, Automatic Stop, Between Love & Hate, and Meet Me In the Bathroom. Mostly, I just don't like parts of them. If they had part of each song stay the same and change other parts, then i would totally LOVE them! I LOVE the guitar solo in Meet Me In the Bathroom! Meet Me In the Bathroom is probably my FAVORITE on this album. If these songs were on TV shows, they would sound AMAZING!

FloatOn2011 - My Personal Favorite

I know Is This It was their most "critically acclaimed" album, but this one is their best. It went away from sounding like a demo tape and added in the new while staying true to the old. Every song is brilliant and each give very different emotions. Music is a huge part in my life and I thank amazing artists like the Strokes everyday! I love you guys!!! Please release the new album soon!

StealBakedGoods - amazing

What ever happened is possibly my favorite song of all time. The entire album is great and a definate must have

TheMR. - Tight!

Yes the Strokes are coming out with a new Album and I know it will be like their last 3 albums.

bubblybanana - Middle School

I found this album when I was in seventh grade going through the cd bin at Borders. From the moment I opened the cd and played it in the car until now, it's never stopped entertaining me. It will always have a place in my heart because not only is it the first "cool" cd I ever bought, but it also got me through those awkward teen years. I think the reason I keep on coming back to it though is because it's not predictable- it will always make you feel something different. The sweet melody mixed with the rough explosiveness of Julian Casablancas' voice makes it a goody. You should buy it!!! P.S I saw the Strokes a few years ago and Julian Casablancas walked into the crowd- I was like a foot from him. Anyway he smelt like alchohol and peppermints, a lovely combination.

Extralargeman - This Album Did Not Come Out in 1990...

It came out in 2003. Julian Casablancas was 12 years old in 1990. That being said, Room on Fire is one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Kaikane95 - 12:51

I love this song. Great mix of electronica and rock

whtsthestory - The Strokes never dissapoint

This is their second album and in my opnion their best one. It has theier bset known song Reptilia, but this album is full of songs better than it. I love the guitar tones in this album and Julian Casablancas is one amazing frontman, listen to the song What Ever Happened?, 12:51, and between love and hate, the best songs on the album, this is one of my favorite albums, and it doesn't get old, full of catchy songs from a very talented band.

#1itunesfreak - album on fire

great album by the strokes, not as fantastic is is this it, but great nontheless. it is always good to hear julian casablancas sad and tired voice.

JSWhite92 - 1990?

I'm pretty sure this album came out in 2003...

CptArtSchool2TheRescue - A Stroke of Genius

This up with my 5 favorite albums of all time. This really is a Stroke of genius for The Strokes. The rhythms and riffs are catchy, inspiring, and perfect. The Lyrics are hypnotic and work very well with the sound. In short this album set my brain on fire.

Jessica Staples - My 'Feel Good' music

I'm driven by music. If I'm feeling down, I jump in the car, drive for hours (live in Hawaii so really it's like driving in circles for a while) and listen to music. I never leave without the Strokes. The music is so clean cut, the beats are beautiful and the vocals are hypnotic and relaxing. Thanks for the miles of smiles guys=)

AltRockFanatic321 - The Room is on FIRRREEEEE

This album is so good I can't even begin to famoth how JC and the Boys did it. The guitar tone for 12:51 has to be the coolest thing EVER.

mr.ocd - the date is...

wrong. the cd came out in 03 not 1990, which is before the band was even together

You Bettah Do ittt. - A Classic

I could play this CD hours on in and it would never get old. 12:51 might be my favorite song of all time. Lyrics hilarious. Amazing beats.

b-Back - Flat out, Flawless

This album is spectacular, without a doubt my favorite album. I can't even stress enough to anyone reading this how incredible this album truly is. Every song is great and this album can be listened to from start to finish 5 times in a row and one still wouldn't get bored of it. If you're looking to buy an album, BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

Loop didy666 - Sweet

B

Henrykw - Somehow it got better

I love everything about this album it is terrific, and to ilovestroke yes they are.

punky700 - Not a bad album

I took me quite a few years to catch up with the importance of this album - a little cryptic and disco for pop and I dont understand the popularity of Meet Me in the Bathroom one bit but 12:51 covers its lost ground in a decent blend of cryptic disco and pop star music.

JMM1980 - Awesome

Hands down the strokes are the best in there style of music! You tell'em Julian!!!

czajka696 - Pretty Good

This album actually is a lot different, for example a lot of different chords are used on this album, the songs sound a lot more pretty and well written, and drum machines are used on a couple of songs. Room on Fire starts out really strong but then kind of loses its edge and starts losing your attention. This is what I thought about each of the albums songs on a 1 through 5 star rating: What Ever Happened(5/5) this song is really good and could have easily either opened up the album, or closed it out. my sister always puts this song on playlists so instantly i recognized this song when i bought the album. Reptilia(3/5) the only reason why i gave this song a 3 out of 5 is because its gotten so worn out by fake fans and guitar hero. but before it got completely worn out, it was probably my favorite strokes song. Automatic Stop(6/5) one of the strokes best songs. i really like the chords in the chorus and the lyrics throughout the song. i really suggest that you buy this song first if your not sure about buying the entire album. 12:51(4.5/5) a little bit too predictable, but good guitar effects by nick valensi making it sound like a keyboard. the music vid is awesome looking though. You Talk Way Too Much(6/5) another song with genius chords in the chorus, and some good lyrics again. Also the guitar solo is great. Between Love & Hate(3.5/5) i dont know but for some reason this song always came off as pretty boring to me. the only part i like is the part after the verse, leading into the chorus. Meet Me in the Bathroom(5/5) this song kind of dissapointed me at first, but after a couple more listens, i really started to love it. Under Control(5/5) really pretty chords, and an all around feel good song. The Way It Is(5/5) a quick, fast paced song with cool sounding raw guitars and a cheap vintage drum machine. The End Has No End(6/5) really pretty chords and guitar line again. this song might actually be my favorite off the album. I Can't Win(5/5) nice classic strokes song to close out the album. This album overall is pretty much just as good as is this it, and and a little bit worse that first impressions of earth. The songs to definately purchase off this album are automatic stop, the end has no end, you talk way too much, and under control. The only song that you shouldnt really buy is between love and hate, and maybe reptilia if you agree with me on how overplayed it is, but i bet if youve read this reveiw, you already have reptilia anyways. If this reveiw was a help, click yes, and if it wasnt, click no.

The fool who plays it cool - "I was impressed when I put in the CD"

Ok very great album. Like seriously. To me this or "Is This It" describes the 00's. 1. What Ever Happened?- Great way to start the album. Talking about relationships here.. Jules' voice is so godly.- 9/10 2. Reptilia- Song of the 00's? Maybe. Great drums, guitar, bass, vocals. WOW 10/10 3. Automatic Stop- Guitar has a reggae sound to it. "I'm not your friend.. I never was." I find that line perfect. Awesome again. 8/10 4. 12:51- Every time I look at the clock me and my brother are like "12:51!" And if you look at a digital clock, 51 is reflective to 12. Thought I would throw that out there. And to me it sounds like The Cars. 10/10 5. You Talk Way Too Much- In the chorus Jules' voice sounds so distorted and perfect. It also sounds like his voice is duplicated. Girls can talk too much.. 9/10 6. Between Love & Hate- I think this one is a classic. Drums good. Guitar is wonderful in this as well. A ballad of love and hate. 10/10 7. Meet Me In the Bathroom- This one had to grow on me. But it really is a good song. It starts out with some catchy guitar and vocals. Bass is catchy as well. Lovely. 8/10 8. Under Control- Very emotional for me. You should look up the lyrics on this one, and really meditate on it. I love this song. 10/10 9. The Way It Is- Another relationship song. Sometimes that's the way it is. Great opening. 8/10 10. The End Has No End- Okay, well this whole f****n' is talking about relationships so I'll just stop saying that. But the rhythm guitar is wonderful. Drums wonderful. Vocals worth crying for. Amen. 10/10 11. I Can't Win- I must start by saying if you are looking for drums in songs, here it is. This is one of my favorite songs with drums. This song is very much like the 50's or something. And the best way to end an album. "Hold on, yes I'll be right back." And sure enough they were. 10/10 The Strokes are one of my favorite bands. And I would recommend them to anyone. I wish more bands were like these guys.

BigHankSalazaar - The Strokes Continue Masterminding The Music Game

The Strokes have yet to let me know that they deserve their spot as one of the top acts of this country. They are amazing and prove it 11 times in this album. Let's hope that a new album is released as soon as possible. No such thing as too much Strokes.

annastearn - MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME!!!!!

this album is AMAZING!!!! i know all the words!!! heard rumors that the strokes are getting back together!!! true? false?

N to the icole - I adore this album.

The guitar is clear, the lyrics are smart and the beat, specific. It's just a whole lot of wonderful. Go on. Buy it!

actionbastrd - How did this happen?

This CD is deffinatly worth the money. I found myself getting into the music easily and it is timeless. How did a band like this emerge from the 80's so quickly?

p-smitty - Definetly my 2nd or 3rd favorite album

listen to it. you will hear something different every time

Okay,Alright - Masterpiece

With all the strokes hype in 2001, I think people began expecting waay too much from this band and Room On Fire didn't meet the expectations of some. One of the most under-appreciated albums, as I see it. This is an absolutely incredible piece of work, every song has impeccable instrumentation, dynamics, etc. The best Strokes album for me. It never gets old. I hope that now more people understand the unbelievable amount of work that went into this record and the quality it produced. Here's to hoping the next generation doesn't forget such a great album

Thomas Jay 2015 - Seriously 1990????????

I doubt Julian Casablancas was 13 when this came out lol

raineno3 - I didn

This Strokes album is amazing. You can obivously see that they have grown from Is This It. All of the tracks are emotional, and extremley catchy. This album to me is an essential to anyones muscial collecton, otherwise you haven't experienced good music yet. I could never give the strokes less than 5 stars. If you believe that this album is not good you should first stop comparing it to the previous one, or just listen to it over and over till it grows on you. Otherwise if you knock this down you will miss a beautiful piece of musical artwork. My favs are : Meet Me In The Bathroom ( LOVE THE CHORUS ) : Reptilia ( gets better once u know the words :D ) : Under Control (very calming.....) : The End Has No End ( to me the most noticable track) Altogether The Strokes are amazing and so is all their albums including this one.

jptennis96 - Best album ever!!!!!!!

This album is amazing....nothing they could do could produce an album close to as good It's the best!

Kiddhomz - WOW!

As soon as i heard Reptilia on Guitar hero 3,I was hooked.BEST ALTERNATIVE SONG EVER!

Ghalik28 - There best album

This album is completely underrated, yes there first album was amazing but people seem to dismiss this album altogether. In my opinion it is there best and hopefully with all of the high regards people are seeing towards Is This It on best albums of the decade people will check it out.
