In Australia I Dreamed a Dream sold 164,000 copies during Christmas week, the highest single week sales for any album since ARIA began keeping electronically scanned sales data in 1997. Boyle also became the first artist to sell more than 100,000 copies in Australia of an album in two consecutive weeks. This album is stunning and shows what a wide variety of songs and music Susan can accomplish with mastery of diction and notation. Her version of Wild Horses in my opinion is better than the Stones version. Her voice makes the hair on the back of my neck rise and this for me shows just how much emotion she portrays. Some of the choices on the cd isn't all to my taste but I certainly cant fault it. Just think we have missed many years of her marvellous voice, thank goodness we can share in her marvellous ability today. Fantastic CD to add to your collection. I cant stop playing it brill.

This song definitely without a doubt sounds better live when she sang it on Britains Got Talent. Her voice sounds way different and it has so much more power in the live version than in this one. Still its a great song, and its even greater when she sings it.

I don't understand how people can put down this album? Here was a women who was unemployed at 47 in a tiny village in Scotland who had promised her dying mother she would not give up on her dreams of fame. The chance for "Britian's Got Talent" came along and she captured the auidence and judges hearts with her amazing voice. If she was so terrible then why is that Simon Cowell has gone on record to say that she has completely changed his way he does business and is no longer going to be so overly critical on first glance? Without a doubt the first 3 tracks are standout tracks along with "Who I Was Born to Be" (a song written especially for her). In reading some of the more negative reviews on this album I got a sense of these individual's taste in music which is not the greatest (I mean...The Jonas Brothers?!) I am far from being a Grandmother but I happen to enjoy QUALITY music more importantly. Thank You Susan for never giving up on your dream and allowing THE WORLD to hear your gift!

I actually think that Ms. Boyle's rendition of I Dreamed A Dream was better live on America's Got Talent. She sounds worse here in the recording. Other than that, she is fantastic and I admire her for following her dream so late in her life.

Proud actually is a great interpretation. Her voice has a bit of an edge and a really appealing raw quality at the end. It's almost like her voicebox, while still delivering her gorgeous tone and clarity, has been possessed by Alison Iraheta. Proud is a fine cover and the best song on the album. I think Wild Horses is beautifully covered. Her gorgeous voice is front and center. But I can understand how some people might have a problem with an edgy rock song turned into a celtic women easy listening experience. But I like it. You'll See and Who I was Born to Be are pretty good. I Dreamed a Dream was better live the first time on Britains' Got Talent; there's a better version of Cry Me a River for charity on y**t*be. Daydream Believer is oddly slow and interesting to listen to once. Only once. End of the World is very dull and the worst cut on the album. The rest are religious songs and are just okay. The best of these is Up to the Mountain.

I don't normally listen to this type of music... like many young listeners i listen to a lot of pop, rock, and rap music.. But this album is absolutely amazing... listening to Susan Boyle sing "Wild Horses" made me feel emotion no song has ever made me feel... this lady is special and she embodies what we all aspire to be! Aren't her 15 minutes up yet? Although I am very happy for Ms. Boyle's success, listening to her sing (especially Wild Horses) is punishing. This is a great album for the most part. Susan Boyle has an amazing voice, that lends itself to a great sound without a lot of fancy melody or big instrumentaion. My largest complaint about this album is the rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" featured. The world fell in love with Susan on Britain's Got Talent because it showcased her natural talent. Unfortunately, the version on the album is rather overproduced, taking away from what most of us enjoy. That said, even this overproduced version is better than a lot of things we hear on the radio these days. The album overall is quite good, and I do recommend it.

While she does have a superb voice, I hesitated to buy the whole album—my usual practice. This review relates only to the one song that is a crushing disappointment, and I think buyers should be warned. I was delighted when I saw that she had recorded "How Great Thou Art." BE WARNED. She signs only that line over and over for the entire song. Gone is all the drama of the transition between verse and chorus. There is no song, because there are no verses and there is no chorus. If I didn't know better, I'd think I'd blundered into the musical entropy of a mad woman on a bus. Whoever came up with this insurrectionary notion needs to be sent to a concentration camp.
