Terrible she could have done way better!!! I was a huge fan of her music but I'm just a huge fan of her dancing. Smh just a terrible album! #44 on the charts speaks for itself.

At first I was not sure about this but I bought and listened to it and now like it. Granted, it is not as good as evolution which i thought was a great album for her. But it is good. And I love Ciara, she is my idol. I just want more, something better for her next cd. But again, I do like this and listen to it often. Love most of the songs!!

Now a days where you buy it and it's stale before you get it out the package it s refreshing to hear something worth spending money on and being able to replay over and over and over! I have not been a dedicated Ciara fan over the years but I love her dance moves and pop style that has remained active and set aside from every other pop princess/diva. If that is how they do it in the ATL I love that sweet peach and can't wait for more.

This album is probably going to be a disappointment regarding the sales numbers. But that is not the full story, track wise she has a bad mix of dance and RnB tracks, not an advantage as the listener doesn't know were she is taking the album. She has Usher as a feature, but put him on a dance track which is not cutting it, as it is a boring effort. I really like the RnB/HipHop tracks the most, that's why I bought it over Keri Hilson's new effort. I think it hurt the marketing that "Ride" the lead single, a great track and even better video, wasn't played on commercial TV stations. Why, well I don't know. The industry is not always fair! Now even though it wasn't played she had the buzz and people were talking about "Ride", but apparently she couldn't use it to the albums advantage. This is what is really killing a good album by Ciara, in a commercial perspective. Artistically she has grown, but unfortunately not enough to meet the new competition. Less dance beat tracks, more RnB/HipHop like, "Ride", "Speechless" and "Yeah I know" would have done it for me.

The record label didn't want her to put flaws and all on her or listen to my song or even gimme dat urban bass that's why it flopped but cici is gonna switch labels but I like the album anyway

I like ciara, but she cant compare to aaliyah. so I notice shes trying to look like aaliyah with the hair covering half her face. its been done, b a little more original.

I actually went out & bought this album; I'm glad I did. I haven't bought an album since CB released Exclusive. I love every song 1-11. This album could have went very far if it was marketed right. Idky ppl say she's trying to be like Aaliyah, I personally don't see the comparison. Aaliyah was more than wearing her hair over her eyes & also you must remember that this album cover is just a photo op Ciara doesn't walk around like that everyday. Which Aaliyah did. Also if u bought the album in the store u would see the different pics she took for the booklet. Anyways I say if you really are a true Ciara fan give this album a try.

It's a good album. but, why isn't their a EXPLICIT version??? She shouldn't start the album off with profanity if she's gonna have it all censored. My favorite tracks are "Yeah I Know" (I could hear Drake or T.I. on a Remix) ... and "Heavy Rotation" Overall, I was disappointed with Basic Instinct. It could've been a lot better. Her albums have always had 16-18 tracks including Interludes. Maybe it's because Tricky & The-Dream were in charge of it, I thought it would've been a good thing because she's done good work with them on Fantasy Ride. I'm looking forward to a Basic Instinct Deluxe Edition or Re-Release!

@ceetron on the front page .... in no way is this Lp a 'Hot Mess', though it is on FIRE in every way. The first track 'Basic Instinct' is awkward at first .... but when it gets flowing ... by the end it'll have you up in arms ..... The rest of this disc flows from start to finish, like nothing she's done since her debut in 2004. FINALLY! Ciara has always been a unique voice in the R&B genre and i've always been a HUGE FAN ... I was disappointed with her 2009 effort 'Fantasty Ride', seeing as it wasn't quite as good as her first Lp .... but let me tell you, this one delivers .... give it a spin folks. You won't be disappointed. Unlike our friend 'ceetron' on the first page of reviews, don't listen to 30 sec of a song and turn it down .... You haven't even had the chance to hear the flavors of Ciara's magnetic voice until you hear it from start to stop!

I love this CD. This is my favorite cd so far. I've been listening to it since 10.14.10. I met her she is so sweet. I am her #1 fan! I will continue to buy every album she releases. TeamCiara. TTU. Yessire!

I dunno what happened to CiCi but this album is just awful. She needs to go back to her roots and work with Jazzy Pha, Lil Jon and Missy Elliot and leave The Dream and Tricky alone.

I'm so sad to hear that Ciara is no longer an inspirational music artist. This album is inconsistent as a whole let alone with the melodies on the selected tracks. I am disappointed and disheartened by this half-baked attempt at music that more so inspires me to turn it off and play someone else. Thumbs down.

Ciara is back like Sharon Stone in the sequel. Seems like she's trying too hard to prove how hard she is instead of actually just singing good hitworthy material. I love all the dance tracks. My main favorites are 'Gimme Dat', 'Ride', 'Speechless', and 'Yeah I know'. I thought 'Girls get your money' was kinda good too, but since I'm a guy it seems like she was trying to say that most men are cheap and only want that one thing from the ladies which isn't true with all guys. The collaboration with Usher was good, but it seemed like Usher didn't quite shine as much as he could've compared to other features he's done with other artists. It's a good album, but I'd stick with her first two albums for classic Ciara. ATL stand up!

TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!! This IS NOT the Ciara i fell in love with back in '04 (Goodies) or the one i fell MADLY in love with in '06 (The Evolution)!! Safe to say im a disappointed Ciara fan. But its cool... Keri Hilson is here to SAFE THE DAY!

The dream n tricky are dope. Don't get me wrong. But I think its time for ciara to look for other producers. Every album she puts out is worse than the one prior. Every person that gave this album a 5 star rating is a die hard ciara fan and they're not being real with themselves. This album is not good.

I wanted to give this album a chance. She said she would take it back to her roots on her first album, which I loved. Well, seems like that statement was made for selling purposes! This album is nothing like goodies. The public is tired of her, as evidenced by her pitiful sales. Give it up Ciara.

I love cici and all but this album is not all that great. I was honestly expecting more. I hope the next album is better than this! 

I'm honestly really surprised at how many GOOD reviews this album got. It by far is the worst album by Ciara to date. I'm shocked that she took this long to release the album after the single and only had 11 tracks as well! The most disturbing part is how similar this album sounds to ALL of her work. Not to say that she isn't incredible. I just expected more from Ms. Incredible...she is one of the mose dynamic artists in the game and needs to step her game up!

Basic Instinct and all the songs mesh well making and its a cohesive Album over all. But unfortunately Ciara let to much time pass between The Evolution and releasing Fantasy Ride. Then over night she decides another album should be released amply entitled Basic Instinct. She stepped out of the lime light to take a break and thats fine but she did it too early in here career and took to much time. While she was getting her much needed r&r she let other artist fill the space she had once filled. idk I like her and I hope she can get together before it's to late. :)

Truthfully, I never expect that much from Ciara vocally or lyrically. She's an entertainer....a song stylist....an amazing dancer....gorgeous....but not a singer in my opinion. What I do expect from Ciara is hot beats and to be able to clean my house from top to bottom to her cd, so I give it 4 out of 5 stars for house cleanability. LOL

Ciara as a fan I must tell you this. Beyonce has so much success as an entertainer because no matter what she stays true to herself. You change your attitude and personality too much for me and it's just whack. You are different in this album from the first three, they were the real you. Who are we listening to Super C?! You dissed your old fans and went for another audience. That's not right Ciara!

I like this album from Ciara! I wish she had marketed it more and built up more anticipation because she didn't sell well in her first week... 37,000. She's an amazing entertainer and I think that's where she loses her "potential fans" with her music because people love her how she dances but can't get with her music. She has some hits with this album (Ride & Speechless) and I think it's good, not any thing to write home about though. When I hear an album, I know it's a great piece of work if I can thoroughly enjoy it beginning to end without skipping a track. I could skip the majority of these tracks and would not purchase the album in its entirety. I wish her the best with her future endeavors.. she's a lovely person and so talented!

I haven't bought this album yet and it's good! Definitely better than Fantasy Ride. That album seemed rushed to record and get put out in the stores. She took her time for this CD and used her skills. This CD reminds me of her 1st & 2nd album with more of a sexy vibe. Good job Ciara!

I've been a huge fan of Ciara since her Goodies album. To me it has been her best yet. I bought Evolution and it grew on me, but Fantasy Ride I did not bother to buy. This album is a relief because now I'm reminded of the music she put out with Goodies. I understand her evolving as an artist and woman but I hate when artists tend to totally forget one fan base to cater to another. With this album you get some of everything and still get the Ciara we have always loved!! I just wish there were more tracks!!
