Paramore by Paramore Album Info

Paramore is the fourth studio album by American rock band Paramore. It was released on April 5, 2013, through Fueled by Ramen as a follow-up to Brand New Eyes. Recorded between April and November 2012, the album was described by the band as being a "statement" and a reintroduction of the band to the world and to themselves. It is the first album without guitarist Josh Farro, the only album without drummer Zac Farro and the final album with bassist Jeremy Davis before his departure in 2015. The album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, with lead guitarist Taylor York co-producing on four tracks. In contrast to the band's previous work, the production of Paramore contains the band's experimentation with new musical genres, such as new wave and funk rock, and features three acoustic interludes. Paramore received acclaim from music critics, who praised the band's maturity and experimentation in terms of musicianship as well as Williams' vocals and overall presence on the album. Several publications included the album in their year-end lists, including The A.V. Club and The Guardian. Paramore was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 106,000 copies. The album also topped the charts in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ireland, and New Zealand, where it became their first album to reach its peak. It also became their second chart-topper in the United Kingdom. In March 2016, Paramore was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for sales exceeding 1,000,000 units. The group followed the record release with The Self-Titled Tour in promotion, with European, North American, Asian, Latin American, and Oceania legs announced. In 2014, the band co-headlined Monumentour with Fall Out Boy. A deluxe edition of the album was released on November 24, 2014, which includes two new tracks, a demo, a re-recorded version of "Hate to See Your Heart Break", and live tracks of songs from their previous albums. Four singles were released from the album: "Now", "Still Into You", "Daydreaming", and the Grammy-winning song "Ain't It Fun". "Still Into You" and "Ain't It Fun" have reached the top ten positions on various charts in the United States and have been certified double platinum by the RIAA, making Paramore the first of the band's albums to have produced more than one double-platinum single. In November 2022, the band changed the album cover on streaming services to an image of Hayley Williams shot from behind for unknown reasons. The recording of Paramore began in April 2012 with the song "Daydreaming". After a brief pause, the recording resumed on June 27 of that year and ended on November 1, 2012. It is the first Paramore album released after the departure of Josh and Zac Farro, both of whom left the band in 2010. The album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, longtime bassist for Beck and Nine Inch Nails, who has previously produced records for M83 and Neon Trees. In an interview with Electronic Musician, Meldal-Johnsen stated he wanted "the album to sound very visceral and a little bit less locked down and computerized, more 1981 than 2012, with a nod to 2016." In an interview with Digital Spy, Taylor York stated "I don't think we've ever been so proud and satisfied with something we've done." On June 29, 2012, the band confirmed that former Nine Inch Nails and current Angels & Airwaves drummer Ilan Rubin would be recording drums for the album. In an interview with Rolling Stone, lead vocalist Hayley Williams explained "That whole time for our band was such a dark season. It was emotionally exhausting, and by the time we got around to the point where we were going to start writing, we just really wanted to enjoy the process of making an album" when asked about the direction of the band after Brand New Eyes. Regarding the album being self-titled, Williams explained "The self-titled aspect of the whole thing is definitely a statement. I feel like it's not only reintroducing the band to the world but even to ourselves ... By the end of it, it felt like we're a new band." She also stated that she was inspired by Blondie's and Siouxsie and the Banshees' records when writing the new songs: "They’ve got so much heart and soul in them." On December 6, 2012, Paramore revealed the name of the album and the release date, as well as the name of the first single from the album. The track list was announced on January 18, 2013, by Alternative Press. During the 2013 Soundwave Festival, Paramore held a listening party in Sydney, New South Wales on February 26, 2013, followed by Melbourne, Victoria two days later, run by Australian Music Channel, Channel V. Williams revealed a section of the lyrics for the song "Part II" which the winners were able to hear at the listening parties on a LiveJournal post. Williams told fans that "'Let The Flames Begin' has been a favorite of ours to play live, as well as being a favorite of most people who come out to our shows... We wanted it to have a sequel. 'Part II' it is!" The vinyl version of the album was streamed beginning on April 1, 2013, for four days, with each day playing one of the four sides. The album was then officially released on April 5, 2013. The band played an acoustic version of "Hate to See Your Heart Break" on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge on April 3, 2013, announcing that on the same night, the full song would be premiered on their official website. On April 20, 2013, the band released an EP for Record Store Day, titled The Holiday Sessions, released exclusively on a 7" vinyl, and is composed of the three interludes from this album. A music video for "Anklebiters" was released on June 25, 2013. The song, however, was not released as a single. The Self-Titled Tour took place from October 15 to November 27, 2013. The Self-Titled Tour took the band through 27 cities across North America, including their first headline show at Madison Square Garden. On August 22, 2013, the band announced their own cruise, called the "PARAHOY! Cruise", sailing from Miami to the Bahamas and back on board the Norwegian Pearl, which took place from March 7 to March 11, 2014. On January 9, 2014, the band, along with Fall Out Boy, announced a co-headlining North American tour dubbed, "Monumentour", which took place from June 19 to August 31, 2014. On January 22, 2015, Paramore announced "Writing The Future", a round of small shows across the United States, closing out the Paramore touring cycle. It lasted from April 27 to May 25, 2015. A deluxe edition of the album was released on November 24, 2014. The deluxe edition includes a new version of "Hate To See Your Heart Break" featuring Joy Williams, Paramore's first collaboration. The album has been a major commercial success worldwide, debuting at number one in eight countries including the UK, Ireland, Scotland, Argentina, New Zealand, Brazil, and Australia (where it was the eighth consecutive number-one debut on the chart and also the 32nd self-titled album to top the Australian chart). The album also peaked within the top 20 of 9 other countries. In the US, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 106,000 copies. This marks the first Paramore album to reach the top spot on the chart. "Still Into You" charted within the top 10 in Australia and Ireland and reached the top 20 in several others. The single topped the UK rock chart and peaked at number 14 in the singles chart, thus becoming the band's second-highest charting single in that country, behind "Ignorance" from the band's previous album Brand New Eyes. In the US, the song peaked at number 24, matching "The Only Exception" from the same album as the band's highest charting single at the time. It also peaked at number 6 on the US Rock Chart and number 8 in the US Mainstream Top 40. "Ain't It Fun" shared similar success, charting within the top 10 in Canada and Hungary. It eventually became Paramore's best-selling single to date in the US, charting at number ten in the Billboard 100, number 2 in the US Mainstream Top 40, and number 1 in the US Rock Chart and Adult Top 40. The single marks the first time a Paramore song has reached the Top 10 in the US.

Anthony Gaddy - Ain't it fun is not rock music....

But it sounds like country music!!! 3 stars :(

LAH_97 - They’re trying to evolve.

It’s really not much of a shock to me that the band’s sound changed after the departure of the Farro brothers. The band lost two of its original band members and one of their primary songwriters. I mean how could their sound not change ? With that being said, I was still hoping that the band’s sound would not change too much so when I heard the record for the first time I was rather upset and disappointed. I was able to find some songs that I really enjoyed though, such as : Part Two, Last Hope, Future, and Anklebiters. The rest of the songs , especially : Still Into You, Now , and “Ain’t it Fun took some getting used to. I felt like the rest of the album lost that sort punk and or raw vibe that used to be apparent in the songs on Paramore’s other albums. But as I listened to the album more and thought long and hard about the situation I began to realize that this is Paramore’s way of evolving from what they used to be . And maybe that’s a good thing. Us fans will never truly know how badly the band struggled with the Farro brothers before the split. We will never how ugly it really was or wasn’t . One can only assume. We will also never know how much the band struggles or doesn’t struggle without the Farro brothers. The band has had a very rough last couple of years. But they are finally getting back in the game with a new sound . And as much as some of us may love it or hate it , the band is gonna change no matter what. Not just because they lost two members but because they are human and humans evolve.

The Daddy-o with the caddy-o? - One of my favorites

This album is a trip from start to finish. Each and every song gives you a new emotion to go through as they take turns and twists into a new light. In my Top 3 it makes number 2. Experience some never before felt feelings while listening to this album. Feel the joy rise up like the Fourth of July in Ain't it Fun, then feel your blood boil before subsiding in Hate to See Your Heart Break. Listen as love fills you in Proof and then as your world hits the brakes and slows down in Future. This album is a 10/10

ApexKid - Wow

This album is pure gold I love every song on it I love the old paramore a lot put I really like what they are doing going for a more emotional feel anyone who loves paramore will love this album

Meli-belly19 - New sound yet same great meaning! <3

This album when first heard was a shocker, much different then what I was expecting from previous paramore albums. Yet I still fell in love with it! "Last hope , part 2 and anklebiters are absolutely amazing songs! Paramores music speaks to you , not in a heartbreak relationship way but in a much more relatable way, as in dealing with annoying people or just finding who you are meant to be in this world , about never giving up hope in you're dreams. That's what makes them special. I am grateful they kept that in this album. <3 sending them love from PR. Keep up the amazing work!

Vanessa Coronel - Paramore new album

I honestly love this album. Preach to whoever said it is the same band but just a with a little more matured music. I love paramore and all there albums especially Brand new eyes but I think that name would be better for this album because it is totally different but the lyrics really touch you. If you listen to what she is saying you would understand what I mean. Like Last hope. For all those people who say paramore have changed, Yea they have but it made them an even better band.

mrswanepoel - Different in a good way

I love Paramore and this new album is certainly more mature than their older ones, it has a couple pop-style songs and a few punk/rock songs. A great mixture of both. I prefer their older style like RIOT!, but these new songs are still very good. This album has less anger and more happiness than ever before.

Jake120502 - Okay

So, I'm not a big fan of alternative but here's the album review: Fast in my car-4.5/5 good, but it could have a little more angry voices. Now-4.5/5 great, but a bit, bit too annoying! Grow up-4/5 boring for alternative music and it's IDK, too weird. But it's good. Daydreaming-3.5/5 not sure. Beginning of sample is boring especially for alternative. I think I still like it though. :) Interlude-3/5 good, boring, weird. Voices are good but unusual. Ain't it fun-5/5 fun, catchy angry alternative! Just amazing. Part ii-3.5/5 beginning of sample is boring. Gets better as I listened. Not as much alternative!!

Coolrockkid - Great

I really like paramore; I think their music is refreshing.

Alec Straub - There's already enough pop music

This world already has enough pop music. Please don't turn into a pop band.

GIGIJACOBSEN!!! - HATE

Whenever any Paramore song comes on, I instantly get an extreme stomach ache as well as head ache. If you buy this song, you will eventually regret it!!

Paramorephilly - My favorite

Paramore your album is amazing and I listen to these song on the daily. 😍

Degebege19xx - Love love love

Paramore has always been on The radar for great rock music, but I was never particularly a "fan" but this album has two great songs that's been on the radio that really showcases their talent for " non fans" and I just feel like now I wanna get to know them which is great!

Marie71590 - Ain't it Fun

I love that Paramore is branching out and trying new things with their music. Definitely a song I wouldn't expect from them & I love it! This song is so relatable to people & it has such a catchy tune! The lyrics are unique & different from typical songs about partying & girls.

KB4413 - Love It!!

I love paramore and every album of their's im happy to see them grow and do different things with their music!!

Joe hamsammich - The popularity ruined it

Ever since Paramore has become more and more popular throughout the years, they've ruined the rock vibe. When Paramore first released 'riot' it was the best thing ever. But now everybody is getting into Paramore, they are mostly fake fans. They wear all the merch and don't even know their first song. I really hope they fix the vibe here. Other than that. Keep up the good work Paramore

Moody foodi - Light-Up Kim possible costume

Kim possible side kick light-up outfits she be com

MusicFan1800 - Rock meets pop!

I was deciding whether to buy this or not, and I did. I`m glad it wasn`t a waste of money! The songs are great and they really pop out Haley`s voice. My favorites are of course "Ain`t it Fun", "Fast in My Car", "Part 2", "Grow Up", and especially all three of the interludes. Awesome album!

musicman1611 - A band growing up

I really enjoyed listening to Paramore's older stuff when I was younger. That being said, I think this band has really matured in this album. This album is so much deeper musically and lyrically than any of their previous stuff. This is my favorite stuff put out by them yet. Is it different? Yes. Is it better? Definitely.

bananainspace - Eh...

I mean it's ok but it got overplayed, I'd recommend checking out their other album "Riot!" It's pretty solid. It's ok I guess...

SFVideoKid - ummm wow!

it’s like Paramore in name only (a shell of what they were). yeah bands do change over time but this is a complete 180 from what they use to be. Too much pop and really kinda just flat. maybe overproduced to whatever. anyway lookin forward to their next album.

Pink160 - Great

I love Paramore! they Rock, Love this album, also like "Riot" and "Brand New Eyes". My favorite song of them is "Still into You".

CrowGeek - STILL INTO YOU PARAMORE!!!!!

Paramore rocks yet again!

Moisitho - ❤️

Love it💘

Dirk buller - Paramore for life

Paramore does it again awesome album

Ig:aastfu - Play future ,last song on album

Listing to the last song on itunes sample, future . Gave me enough to wanting to buy there album .

Hunhnbredsaafnnmk - Beautiful

I love this album. I've never heard anything like it, paramore never fails to amaze me. They're so good with music and this album is truly about being happy with yourself and they've been through hell so the fact they put their thoughts into an album that is amazing like this. Makes me feel amazing. I love you guys

Suptanyah - Perf

I don't care what people say, Paramore is Paramore, i absolutely love all of their albums they are all great and this band will forever be my favorite band.

Buglover22737542 - Wow

Didn't even know who Paramore was until I heard "Still Into You" on the radio, one thing lead to another and I downloaded this entire album. We'll I'd have to say it's nice to meet you Paramore; it's REALLY nice to meet you! And you really hit it home with that last song "Future." I think I can call myself a Paramore fan now. This album is full of greatness!

alexafergie95 - So proud of this

I’ve been a Paramore fan since 2007 and upon hearing Now I was kinda reluctant and didn’t think i was going to like it. When i heard the whole album i fell in love. This the best Paramore album. Its hard for me to even pick a favorite song. It upsets me that only Still Into You, Aint It Fun and Now are popular. I definitely recommend listening to the whole album.

Hi1096 - You learn to love it!

I'll admit, it took me awhile to embrace the change. I was being a little too critical at first, not accepting the new sounds Paramore experimented with. But believe me, after listening to this album a few times, you learn to love it! You get to hear the other sides of Paramore, from their 80's pop inspired Ain't It Fun to the soft ambiance of Hate To See Your Heart Break. I don't think it's right to assume the Farro Bros. "took the talent with them", because Hayley Williams, Jeremy Davis, and Taylor York are exceedingly talented artists that compose an amazing musical trio. So, I definitely recommend this installment to TRUE Paramore fans (fans who love Paramore no matter what). If you just love them because you're more into the punk-rock genre, then I recommend you stick to their first three albums. That being said, I hope these three release another album soon. :)

Jeff Hector - A review from a very big Paramore fan.

At first, i loved hits like: Thats what you get, Decode, Misery Business, Ignorance, Emergency, Pressure and the list goes on. I bought all the albums to 2009, with Brand New Eyes. When this album came out, i automatically fell in love with every single track. I do agree, they have a diffrent vibe with a few tracks on this album, but if you love Paramore, like me, you will fall in love after the first time you hear this album. Great job Paramore, you've succeded again!

gerardo413 - Where where where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the deluxe!!!!!!!

cosmic_sakura - Stop Hating and Listen

Sure they might have changed their sound, so what. All bands change how they sound at some point in their careers. If you are a true fan you would listen to the songs and see that they actually have a meaning and the same soul that Paramore has always had. This album came directly from the feelings the members had after the Farro brothers left. These songs tell a story of wanting and seeing a new and bright future and it's sad that none of you are able to see that.

LupoMD - Generic and lacking

When I heard paramore I heard a specific comforting sound... A sound you call home for those who started with them from the beginning. Now? It's like they're getting with the times and fitting in. Who wanted that? Not me. I liked they're sound I liked the heart behind each song. Now it's almost like every other generic rock sound out there. Nothing from this entire album made me say oh awesome! I listened to it numerous times before finally deciding it's done. It's not the same and won't be I accept that. Doesn't mean I have to continue to listen or love them anymore. It would've been great f they chose a new name for the new sound Because regardless who you are you can't sit there and tell me this is the same band. It's not and will never be. Accept it or move along. Also for those saying "they've changed blah blah" that doesn't mean their music needed to. Change the name don't ride the coattail of an awesome band and rehash new age bs because frankly I don't want any of that It's WHY I listened to paramore... Now I'm going right back into it? No thank you Has nothing to do with the band changing by all means they can but with the name paramore how can people not expect? That's like selling penutbutter to someone and suddenly using almonds instead but still calling it peanutbutter

728blobfish827 - Great!

Stop hating! You say Paramore is now all pop. Are you basing this off the whole album or the two songs you recently heard on the radio, Still Into You and Ain't It Fun (good songs but not the best)? My favourites are all three Interludes, Fast in my Car, Now, and Daydreaming. Future is good too. Listen to those songs. Are they pop? Would you hear them on KIIS FM or Z100 or some pop station? No. They are completely unique and different. Zac and Josh left, and while they were amazing members, just because they left doesn't mean Paramore can't make good music. I bet if the Farros were part of this band while making this album you'd think it was better. Don't think about the "old Paramore" or past members or even Paramore. Just listen to the music. It's beautiful.

CRitter2482 - Amazing band and amazing album!

This album shows so much growth and with it they became my favorite band. From front to back, big synth moments and stripped down ukuleles, it has something for everyone. Much love to Paramore for putting their hearts on their sleeves and in their music.

ShesonfireFF5 - This is an album NOT a singles collection

If you are a person that just wants the hit songs then Paramore is not for you. Paramore is exploring a bit with their sound and I think it takes guts to step out of the ordinary to impress old AND new fans. Hayley has a voice that makes you want to keep listening to her, even if you have heard the song a hundred times. I personally don't like "ain't it fun" but for some reason I'm drawn to hear it again and again. Why is that? Beacause its Paramore! :)

Vdawq - Omg

I should b over all the butterfliessss😫💘💕 !

Lesliesilva - Absolutely Perfect!

Been listening to paramore for a long time now and now I finally purchased this album! It's amazing! Recommend everyone to buy it 💘

Manuelito-jahazi - Paramore!

I love you guys, you are the best! I ❤️ Paramore!!!!!!!!

HeavyMetallover98455 - <33333333333

This is the best paramore album ever! And i was always only a casual fan. I like fences and where the lines overlap from their other albums. Sound should change. Who wants to hear the same songs over and over again. Don't get the so called fans not giving this album a chance. Glad Hayley put her foot down. Love it minus the interludes.

swiftdragons - amazing.

i don't know why this album gets so much hate. it's not even pop? actually listen to it. i love it so much.

Emma12122000 - Paramore

Paramore is the best group of people to ever come together and exist on this planet ... ever!

lafferty12 - AMAZING!

I’ve loved paramore for years and this album just makes me love them even more! it’s something they haven’t done before and i love it.

Donny_A - My First Paramore Album

Love it! Can't stop listening to it.

paramore | | | girl - ...

Seriously this is the best I've been a fan for so long and I'm so proud. Don't think they could have done any better. Love every track.

KoolPersona - Music Changes

As music changes so do the people . This new album is great to some and bad to others but one thing that most people should consider is music isnt heard the same as some might hear it . Give things a chance because one thing that will NEVER change ; is that things WILL change. the Change in this album is good , stop being biased on the past and enjoy what the now has to offer .

ParaHearts - Best album ever!!

Paramore has gone through some tough times these past few years, and it is incredible that after losing Zac ad Josh that they were able to bounce back so quickly. They have worked so hard to make this happen, and so far they're doing pretty well. This album is great for them and for the fans, because it lets everyone know that the world can't hold us down, and that together we can accomplish anything. They have worked so hard the past 10 years, and they're still killing it. Best album ever.

nessav17 - Amazing

Love this song so much and I love how the band has evolved over time. Still the same perfect things about the band are present , but a little difference was needed ! Obsessed with this song ! It's definitely staying on repeat for a while !
