Jake Peterson - Holy Freak

As the title says, Holy Freak. This album is amazing, and not even by Christian music standards, this album is #6 in the world right now, it's up there with daft punks random access memories, kanye west, black sabbath, and people like that, my prediction for this album is that it will go platinum and be nominated for a grammy and win one.... Absolutely stunning From- Jake Peterson (Panhead and nug thug 4 life)

Epic0980 - AWESOME ALBUM

This is a great album!!! Skillet is a great Christian band. This album is a must get!!!!!!!!!

boirun03 - Great concept album

This is probably the first concept album ever that I can listen to from front to back and over and over. Well since Operation:Mindcrime that is. Skillet has always been a solid and this is great music.

BMAACL - 3...2...1 for all and all for one

I didnt know anything about this band and now i have been listen to them for almost a week and they're awesome i love jen's voice she's an awesome drummer im in love with her 😍amazing band!!!!! Tonight we rise, RISE!!!!!

Red/Pan Head - Totally

I was a little scared when American Noise came out. But this album brought me to tears. Skillet you are awesome keep em coming. From Felling Like a MONSTER!!

Steve-O116 - From One Skillet Fan to Another

I have been a Skillet fan since Collide. They are what got me interested in hard rock when I was younger. They have been my favorite band for many years in the past and I have seen them in concert more than any other music group. I respect and love their ministry and message. Praise God they have been a part of my life. With that being said, this album was lyrically decent as usual but overall just not a style of skillet that I like/loved. I liken this album to Awake and Alive (which was a fairly solid album) but without songs that really stick with me. I usually like a little bit of electronic addition in the rock genre but sometimes I think it's a bit much here. Sometimes it's okay (better in fact) to go with a 'simpler' mix like Collide. i.e. AC/DC is not one of the great rock bands of all time because they have a complex post production mix. The melodies/style just do not mix terribly well with John's voice. If you love this album, that is great! A lot of people seem to do. I think the drummer Jen Ledger does a great job on vocals (aside from the usual epic percussioning) and I would love to take her to dinner some time (probably won't happen but can you blame a guy for trying). I will continue to see them in concert as time allows because they still put on a great show! I can nit pick about this or that but I think the real issue for me is just that these guys are not getting any younger (John is close to 40). I know I am more biased toward the earlier Skillet of Collide, Alien Youth, and Comatose, so this album is not a memorable one for me. But if more teens come to Jesus through the work of this band, then by all means they should make music until they are older than The Stones.

FoHawk12 - Skillet will "Rise" to Greatness

The album Rise was well worth, the album feature twice more hits than Awake, and the success of this album may lead to big record companies noticing skillets as a powerful band of good rock and soft music, this album may allow skillet to grow behind the Christian music world and may eventually become the main event of concerts instead of opening acts

Ggfjgc - Oh, Skillet

Skillet track record: Everything before collide was bad. Collide=great album. Comatose=great album. Awake=Was terrible. A few songs were good, but got boring the more you listened to them. Rise=I'm not even going to buy it. Generic lyrics, boring choruses, most songs are slow, and they have fake techno sounds riddling the music. I may buy one or two songs that are not as bad just because I want to like skillet again.

TheHonoredGuest - Rise does exactly the opposite.

Let me just say starting off, "Rise" remains true to Skillet's Christian mission, which is what really matters in the end. For years, Skillet has been the greatest Christian band out there, and each album they've had has been aflame with the love of God and inspiration from the spirit. However, if the greatest inspiration they could get for this album was "Lonely room you've got nowhere to run..three…two..one for all and all for one," "tonight, get ready for a fight," "circus for a psycho (psycho, psycho, here we go)," and "when you go away the darkness hides the day," then perhaps they shouldn't have bothered to do another album so soon. This is by far Skillet's weakest album. They have struggled with cheesy lyrics for a long time, but they always made up for it with the songs. That is not the case here. Not only are these the most horrid lyrics they have ever written ("light" "fight" "unite" every five seconds), but the music doesn't cover for them this time. The instrumentation is bland and poorly mixed, and it sounds like they replaced Jen with a computer. Honestly, she was never auto tuned into Oblivion in the past, why did they choose to do so now? The vocals are also pretty uninspired in nearly all the songs. I've taken the time to listen through more than once, so as to attempt to write a less harsh review, but nothing has changed. There are maybe 3 or 4 good songs on this album, "Not Gonna Die," "Hard to Find," "What I Believe," and "Battle Cry." Even then, these songs are some of the worst that Skillet has done. Then there are the live videos. How dare they charge extra money so that we can watch a few live videos that are overdubbed with the actual song tracks? I really hope that Skillet had nothing to do with that, because this is an absolute insult to their fans. The one saving grace this album has that would keep me from giving it zero stars is the fact that, as I listen, even though I don't like the songs, I can still tell that the inspiration comes from above, and really the man upstairs is the one they are trying to please, so I give them major props for sticking to that, but not enough props to make this album worth spending any money on. I really wanted to like this album, and I have tried several times, but next time, Skillet should just not do another album if they can't think of anything good.

NWJH - One of (if not) their best!

Really impressed. A fantastic album. I bought the Deluxe Version because it is a better deal, and I loved the 3 bonus songs... the Videos were just extra... GREAT GREAT ALBUM...

Iloceharrystyleslikealot431 - ...

I don't normally listen to Rock and I love every single song on this album!

tkcody519 - Great album. But over priced

This album is amazing. Better than Alive. My only issue is it's over priced. It is cheaper at Lifeway Christian bookstore.

Mikadalia - LOVEEEEE this Album!

I've loved Skillet for years, and I've seen them live over 20 times. I think Skillet is an oustanding rock band, and I don't know why people are disappointed with this album. It's a great album, and the entire album tells a story. How many bands do that? This album reaches people, and it reached me. I fall in love with one song and listen to it for hours and then move on to another song and fall in love with it as well. John did a great job writing these lyrics, as did Korey. And Jen's voice is phenomenal! Seth's guitar skills are insane, and they are a great band. This album didn't disappoint me. And I can't wait to see what they have next! Can't wait to see them on August 3rd in NH! I'll be screaming the loudest when they get on stage!!! Well done John, Korey, Jen, Seth, Chu and Tate!!!! :)

Stev1221 - Love It!

It sounds amazing and Skillet still remains true and faithful. So much respect

Phantomchick94 - They've done it again!

Skillet never ceases to amaze. This album has, I think, a more clearer religious message than Awake did. And once again, the band has managed to tweak their sound more. But Rise is just as incredible as thier previous albums, if not more so. I love it!!! Rock on, guys!! lol ;)

The Unseen Hand - Dear Howard Benson,

Leave. Now. Sincerely, Fan of bands you've ruined

jonjiponji - Did it again!

Another smash album! Keep rockin on!

Rise!!!!!!! - Awesome album

This album is the best out of all of them. Don't buy the hole album if you don't want the videos just buy each song individually. Rise is the best song on this album hence the name. Keep doing what your doing skillet. God bless you!!!!

RCK24 - Awesome

Nuff Said.

Ben Reeder - Their best yet.

This album means so much. Just because we can break through the "American Noise". I would give it ten stars if I could. Well done, Skillet.

EliseLovesSkillet - PERFECT!😍

The whole album is sooooo perfect! Rise is their best album yet... My favorite songs are Rise, Not Gonna Die, Circus For A Psycho, Madness in Me, and Salvation! I'm so glad that Jen sings on a lot of songs... Her voice is so beautiful! Once again, Skillet did a fantastic job!!! ❤

DeltaSceptile - Rock Music of the '10s!!

This album is one of reasons why I think rock music is still great and has kept getting better in recent years (where most modern pop music has just gotten worse). This is the kind of innovation of style that I love. What Demon Hunter did for Heavy Metal music with "True Defiance (2012)", Skillet does for Hard Rock music with "Rise (2013)".

nctowne - Was worried

I have been a Skillet fan since their first self titled album (that most "big fans" don't even seem to know exists. I was originally worried since I wasn't a big fan of the first few songs they released for this album, but must say that after getting the album, many other songs are awesome. Freakshow alone is a reason to buy the Deluxe version, probably my favorite on the whole album.

Joe cool 468420 - Risen above expectations😝

I love Skillet and it is their Christian message that shines through this album! I love the concert video too! Great price for it all! Absolutely past expectation and it is extremely unique and different from all their other albums!

linktotau - Rising Above the Best of Them

After Awake was released, I was dissapointed. Skillet didn't even come close to how good Comatose was. So after four years of anticipation, have they done the impossible? Does Rise match up to the album of the decade that was Comatose? Rise- The album opener is nothing short of awesome. Seth shines in this song, laying down epic riffs. The synth sounding sonic surges are a welcome addition as well. The lyrics are delivered fantastically by John. This song really means something if you listen. The interlude afterwards sets up Sick Of It very well though it isn't the best interlude in the album. This song is fantastic. 9 out of 10 Sick of It- This song picks you up and slaps you in the face. The brutal riffs layed down by Seth are complimented well with the synth. It almost hurts to hear John sing this one. In a good way that is. The verses are a little lacking, but the chorus is catchy and meaningful. The scream is a welcomed addition and really adds to the song's brutallity. Similar to Monster, it will and is a great single. 9 out of 10 Good To Be Alive- The first ballad on the album, Good To Be Alive as a brief break from the storm of guitars that the previous songs offered. It is insanely catchy. You will not get it out of your head. It's not the album's best, but it's good enough. The piano is great and the strings in the back add a "bigness" to the sound of the song. The interlude leading into Not Gonna Die is fantastic as well. It sets it up perfectly 8 out of 10. Not Gonna Die- The sing lives and breathes Comatose. It is utterly utterly epic. The strings and the guitars together add so much. The verses are fantastic and the chorus is dramatic and driving. Seth adds a brief-but-epic guitar solo. Jen's vocals add a lot to this song. Not Gonna Die is the song I select first whenever I play the album. It is hands down the best song here. 10 out of 10. Circus for a Psycho- The name of this song really defines it well. It is psycho. It's chaotic. The constant lead guitar line is played over and over. The riffs never stop. Lyrically it is simple, but it fits the song. This is Seth's best song. He plays very well with a fantastic solo. Jen constantly chanting "Psycho-cho-cho-cho" just adds to the insanity. I absolutely love it. It's brutal and crazy and just plain awesome. Behind Not Gonna Die, it's the second best on the album. It also sports the best interlude on the album. The transition to American Noise is flawless. 9.5 out of 10 American Noise- The second ballad on the album is slower than most, but extremely meaninful. Everyone will take away something different from this song. The piano is great and John delivers with stellar lyrical work. It isn't the best slow song on the album, but it's definately one of them. 8.5 out of 10. Madness in Me- This song kicks it back into gear with the heavy guitars and constant riffs. It is however a little repetative and boring after a while. The lyrics are a little weak, but not terrible. It sounds over done almost, like it's trying too hard to be heavy. It's good, but definately not great. It does however have a good interlude into Salvation, which actually contains scripture reading from Isaiah. 7.5 out of 10 Salvation- Think of this song as a combination of Awake and Alive and Say Goodbye. It is by far the best ballad on the album, if you can call it a ballad. Jen's vocals are fantastic and blend very well with John's. The orchestrated parts add an epic feel to the song. It is one of the few songs that isn't harsh or brutal. It's pleasant to listen to without losing the driving and epic feel of everything else. 9 out of 10. Fire and Fury- I don't have much to say on this song. It's another slower song that doesn't accomplish much. Jen sings well, but the mixed vocals don't work nearly as well as they did in Salvation. It's okay. 7 out of 10. My Religion- This song almost seems out of place on the album. It's got a driving beat with very catchy guitar riffs. It has a very southern tinge to it. The lyrics are very cool and catchy. I also love the meaning of the song. You don't need to be all churchy and spiritual to have a relationship with God. This may just be me, but I love this song. 8.5 out of 10. Hard To Find- This is another slower song with a lot of meaning if you really listen. It is good but not great. Musically it is solid. John definately delivers on this song though. It is similar in some ways to Say Goodbye (which I considered the best Skillet power ballad until Salvation came along). It's an all around good song. 8 out of 10. What I Believe- This song ends the standard version of the album, and all I can say is that it ends it phenomenally. Rather than guitars, this song is driven by the orchestrated pieces. It sounds epic and adds to the climactic chorus and overall feel of the song. This is Jen's best work on the album. Her voice is so perfect with John's on this song that I listen to hear her alone. One of the best songs on the album. 9 out of 10. Bonus Tracks Battle Cry- This song is laid back and catchy similar to Older I Get. It isn't as good as Older I Get, but it comes close. It isn't really a standout though. 7 out of 10. Everything Goes Black- This is the slowest song on the album and one of the slowest in Skillet's recent history. It honestly doesn't do much for me, but some people will like it. 6.5 out of 10. Freakshow- This song is the reason to buy the Deluxe Edition. The opening "announcement" from John sets it up perfectly, and leads into the first verse very well. It is a heavy song, with driving riffs and a brutal chorus. I feel like this should have replaced Madness in Me on the standard album. It does everything that song was trying to do so much better. 9.5 out of 10 So does Rise match the magnifecance of Comatose? Dare I say it? Yes, Rise matches Comatose. It even surpasses it in some ways. It is Skillet's best album to date. By. It. Now.

No Name 222222222222 - Best skillet album yet 😄

My 2 favorites are madness in me and salvation!

Sally_Stitch - Not impressed

Honestly I'm not impressed with this album ... My first time hearing skillet I heard whispers in the dark with a friend and shortly after I begged my mom for the cd . Comatose was my favorite cd . Its lyrics helped me through high school . But I digress rise sounds like something I heard as a kid I'm now 20. I was probably 13 or 14 when I first heard skillet . The sounds is to pop and it doesn't sound like the skillet I know and loved . I'm truly disappointed . And hope for a better future for the band and would hope that they don't sell out like so many before them ...

Alida6<#> - Soooo Good!

I love Skillet more and more each album. This one is very good. "Rise", "Not gonna die", "Salvation", and "What I believe" were definite stand outs to me. I also love Jen's voice, it is just beautiful.

ichthus_rocker - The singles fooled me.

I honestly was very disappointed with the singles, but was impressed when I finally heard the other songs on the album. You won me back, Skillet. Good job! :)

Gaskill1971 - AWESOME!!

Yet another great album from skillet a must buy!!

Lexey99 - Better with age

They're first album was fine don't get me wrong but now they are the best! I must say We should have saw a great album like this coming ever since Awake. This one is the number 1 best album of theres.

bscunningham - Haven't been this high on a new album since Born To Run

Seriously, not since I was a kid have I had this kind of passion for new new music. One request: John, love ya to death but next album sit out a couple of tracks and let the ladies have a full turn at the mike. The duets were amazing but I really would like to hear Jen's full range stand alone, at least for a track.

-:-brad-:- - Just when i thought skillet couldnt get any better!

Ive been a panhead(skillet fan) since 2009. I love this CD. My favorite songs are 'circus for a psycho', 'freakshow', and 'sick of it', but i love them all. Great job skillet!

ThEmAnIaC47 - AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man i've been waiting since mid-2012 for this album! it was well worth the wait. It's one of those albums that it feels so imposible to pick your favorite song on it! LUV IT!

jakatak69 - Thank you GOD. Finally good Christian Rock

It's about time. I've waited for this release for months. It's in your face, not afraid of the world Christian Rock. "MY RELIGION" is my favorite cut. It says exactly how I feel in my faith. Churches need to come together and stop being gang affiliations. Until this happens, we will never be one body of Christ.

Deafinterpret - One of their BEST!!

This album is unlike any other. Different but with the same passion they have always had. I think that this album above all the other (I have every single one) really proclaims their faith in God and puts their Walk into their music. Really living it, loving it and sharing it. You will NOT be disappointed with this purchase. Jen sings with John on about 8 songs. Including one she is lead on and happens to be my favorite. Glad I got the deluxe.

commandercolt44 - We all shall rise to the sounds of Skillet!

This album is awesome. It has risen above all other Skillet albums. My favorite part of this album is that the deluxe version includes three rocking bonus tracks and nine amazing live songs from Skillet's previous albums. John's raspy hard rock singing adds to the powerful base chords that he produces in the songs. Korey's beautiful piano sounds add to the emotion of songs like "Lucy" and "The Last Night". Seth's sweet guitar licks shoot through the album like rockets. Jen's smooth back-up vocals smooth the soul and her powerful drum beats make me want to play them myself (which I sometimes do). The classic violin and cello adds to the sophistication of the album as in other albums. All in all, this album has been the best Skillet album yet.

Tennis151 - Worth the wait

Just got this and saw them friday night best songs live and on record ever!!!They just keep getting betterT

Shannon-singer16 - SKILLET

I love skillet and am in love with there songs not gunna die, and fire and fury!! There my favs!!!!!!!

David Chapa - Awesome

This last two albums by skillet have been awesome

Gillyc66 - No surprise

It is no surprise that this album is another amazing one from skillet these guys are an amazing band with songs that are so inspirational 5stars defiantly

Jonesaphone - Very Pleasantly Surprised.

Since Comatose, Skillet has been doing sort of the same thing music wise (let alone live show wise, those who have seen Skillet live multiple times since 2009 will know what I'm talking about.) Don't get me wrong, I love ALL their music, especially from Collide on. I've just been expecting the same thing for a very long time now. However, on Rise, there were lots of nice surprises. Jen sings a lot more, the songs take a more worship based turn at times, and there's a big variety of types of songs. There are the rock anthems like Not Gonna Die and Sick of It, and there are the jams like My Religion and American Noise. All the interludes that introduce the next song and further the story the album is trying to tell are very nice, too. If you want a rock worship album that is just that, with the appropriate bells and whistles, then Rise is for you.

notwbandgeek - Incredible!

After the long wait, we are finally treated to the best Skillet album yet. They put so much time, effort, and energy into their work that it makes it worth buying their albums and supporting them. I love their work and their bold faith so much that I wanted to support them by buying the Deluxe version. Incredible album, definitely worth it!! - Luke 9:23

Blueberri~ - Skillet Forever

Oh my god. This is the best album of the year!!!!! Skillet never disappoints!!! Ahhh! I love Jens vocals in the songs too!!! Maybe Korey, Jen, John, and Seth will all sing together in a future song?!? :D love Rise <3

ginoboli-fan - Their best album!

Their best album, in my album. While there are some songs that I like more on other albums, this is the best overall. One complaint: Not enough of Jen singing :)

Brien 2 - Best album yet!!!!!

I have been waiting so long for this to come out!!!! PEACE, LOVE, SKILLET!!!!

Sabinmorah - Another Brilliant Album By Skillet!!!

I thought that they couldnt top Awake....but they have!!!! I LOVE all the songs. My Fav is "what I believe"!

Ironbriggz - Best purchase I have ever made

This is seriously the best $20 I have ever spent. What I love about Skillet is the message of their music, such powerful lyrics. Every song on this album has its own unique feel to it, from the upbeat feel from Rise, to the slow pace of Fire and Fury, every song is a masterpiece. Well done guys!

Kgiggy - SKILLET!

They did it again

Viveq - Hit Again!

You just don't need to read a review to get this album,it's phenomenal as always

Sandeboy - Great Album

Another cool album by skillet. Love all the songs !!!
