Do yourself a favor and listen to "The Best of bread" and Radiohead's "The Bends" back to back and you'll see why Bread has such a wide reaching influence. Particularly on "Fake Plastic trees". It's total David Gates all the way.

David Gates and crew come about as close to perfection as possible with this series of songs. One of those albums that you play it today it is just like you bought it back in 1972, never gets old. Timeless

I totally agree with many reviews before me. Great album but it's the wrong version of "It Don't Matter to Me". Classic tunes that we'll never grow tired of. I wanna be young again!

A great overview of their career, expanded from the original release back in '73 (which had only the first 12 tracks). But it gets docked a star for having an alternate version of "It Don't Matter To Me" (the original is on RETROSPECTIVE). Otherwise, a wonderful peek into the '70s mellow rock scene.

Good music, and it kind of makes our music today seem just ok

...that the version of "It Don't Matter To Me" on this album is not the one you loved on the radio. It's one of those horrible, pointless re-recordings. Everything else I'm familiar with here sounds OK, though. I love Bread, no matter how much of a guilty pleasure they are. And I loved this album, until I heard what sounded like a big, vinyl scratch in my head when the inauthentic "IDMTM" started to play.

In high school early 70's,Bread was the sweet sounds of falling in love. I hear these guys and i am back riding in a pinto and being in love. download this great sound of David Gates and Bread.

This a what I refer to as a "tingle factor" Album. so much rembered by each and every track. Such cool slick song writing, tight and expressive and every one a real gem. If you were a teen in the seventy's and wether you were a fan or not I guarantee this will put a lump of emotion in your throat. Ahh all those lost love's..........

I have the actual hard copy of the CD. The version of It Don't Matter To Me on this album has strings.

I may be too young to have heard bread on the radio...but my dad made up for it. Bread's simple melodies, and great story-telling make every song slip into a mood. There are so many classics, for a good story listen to "Diary" about a man who finds out the truth; or "Guitar Man" about a man who must keep traveling to tell his stories. If you want classic love songs, "Make it with you", "Everything i own", and Baby-Im-A-want you" easily fit the bill. You can't go wrong with this collection.

The "It don't matter to me" version on this itunes Best of Bread is not the one that is on the orignal album version, of "The Best of Bread" this tinny piece of crap does an injustice to the band. It is like a B side cut of a B grade album but the version contained on the other Bread collection is so full and beautiful it brings back sympathetic memories. So download this whole album and replace the sad version contained therein with the other version of "It don't matter to me", the same song on the Bread anthology itunes...trust me!

I have wanted this album since I was a teenager in the 70s, but for some reason never purchased. Now I can download the songs I want...reminds of my long ago carefree days, being in love and no worries. My favorites "If", "Baby I'm A Want You", and "Everything I Own"...

I would like my money back. I have spent a fortune w iTunes and it is a good service. However, this album is not the original. Please respond. A refund is in order.

the song "IT DON'T MATTER TO ME", contained on this anthology, is from the group's first album, entitled "BREAD". there are no strings at all. no other musicians except for the guys in the band. i believe the drummer was the studio musician jim keltner. each song is unbelievably good and does not sound like any other music from later bread albums. that's why the song sounds different from the re-recorded version familiar to most. please please please trust me and seek out this first album. absolutely not a wasted note. the middle instrumental part of the last song "FRIENDS AND LOVERS" is really ahead of it's time. there is a viola, played by david gates, in one song. try to find it. fun fun fun.....the recorder in the song "LOOK AT ME" is haunting. just buy it.
