This album is so amazing! "ONLY" true loyal fans of Prince will appreciate this great album. This album takes me back to his classic sound. Prince is never going anywhere. He's a true pioneer of music and should be respected. I bump all his music on the regular on my iPhone and iPad!

We all know the album format is dying. I'm a teacher and my students don't even buy singles; it's all either streaming or Youtube for them. I feel sorry for them. Enjoying a great album that is strong from the very first through the very last song is a pleasure they may never experience, and "Art Official Age" ranks up there with Prince's very best for me. This album gave me chills on the first listen, and has gotten even better from there with repeated plays. "Way Back Home" is a contender for the greatest Prince song ever, threatening to unseat "Joy in Repetition") from my personal favorite spot. It's spiritual and real all at the same time. The ultrasonic heartbeat combined with the high note beacon (towards home?) and the angelic background vocals brought me to tears (especially in the songs reprise, "affirmation iii"). The rest of the songs are all unique creations that each serve a purpose in the context of this album (funky, smooth, soulful, celebratory). It makes me smile, it makes me dance, it makes me sing, it makes me think, and it makes me reflect. Isn't that the purpose of art? The album is doing pretty well commercially and critically, but that's not the point. If a young up and coming R&B artist released this album it would be all we'd be hearing, just like in 1984. No, the passage of time will determine the real worth of this piece of art, and when it's all said and done we'll mourn the loss of the album format but thank artists such as Prince for pouring themselves into making something that touched us in a profound way.

I’m 42, and a life long Prince fan. This is the deepest, funkiest album in quite awhile. Classic Prince. This could be us is the new Adore for this young generation of lovers, U know is the best cut on the album, Gold standard and funknroll are the new kiss and house quake. The album is complete, and thorough. You will NOT be disappointed if you’re a true Prince fan.

Maybe I just don’t get the musical genius thing. Music can be artful and great or artful and sound like poop. I have been a Prince fan forever but I just don’t get this music anymore.

Too many slow tempo funk/dance tracks, no real “songs”. There doesn’t seem to be anything fresh here. A couple of awesome guitar fills here and there but overall this album is well, boring.

This is a man that was put on earth to share his talents. He has done that also to share his thoughts he has done that. He was sent to share his love he has completed that as well. He will be funky until the day he die. For people to look back at what he has done in the 80's are late he has moved on and changed his style as his age. If you want him to stay in that era you need to go back to wearing cartoon Characters on your drawz and see how everybody looks at you. Prince we love you and your music thank you for helping a lot of Musicians because great music came behind it. Let the hatters hate.

Can someone, anybody tell me why the name of the album is Art Official Age and the first song is called Art Official Cage??? Was that a typo? Other than that the album is great as usual. Definitely recommended.

Fresh yet nostalgic. When I heard that AOA had a classic Prince sound, I thought that meant “old.” I don’t want to hear 1999 again. I have records, cassettes and CDs when I want to hear his old music. I always want Prince to move forward. To whom much is given, much is required. I expect him to give me the best music in the industry. Prince delivered again. The GOLD STANDARD is platinum level funkiness. I can’t wait to hear the next 6 versions of FUNKNROLL. WAY BACK HOME and THE BREAKDOWN are reminiscent of the emotionally transparent Prince people say they love. He was extremely generous with his collaborations. He’s making me admire him more as a person as well as the greatest talent of our generation.

I was a big Prince fan back in the 80's , first album I bought was 1999 and got everyone from For you up until Gold. But to say this artist can do no wrong because he's Prince is not a fair review. He's not the only artist around since his era and definitely not putting out the best music. Prince is to full of himself and believes all the praises his robot fans give him and I think that's why his music just isn't as good anymore plus he treats his fans like crap. This is coming from a long time Prince fan who bought everything he put out at one time , and saw the Purple Rain tour and Lovesexy tour. So I'm very familiar with Prince. Prince just wants your money now. This is a very forgettable album. Don't give him no more of your hard earned money til he starts respecting his fans and puts out an album I believe he is still capable of.

Just when I think I am done with the music industry and their auto-tuned, talentless "music," Prince sneaks along and brings my ears on a true listening experience. Prince is real... I have a feeling that this album is getting overlooked by a lot of people, even by some old time Prince fans. Make no mistake, its not the same sound he's had before. Yet.... it is him. Its takes a little time to realize (several listens), but it is a very - very good album. Funk, R&B, Blues and Pop. And of of course Rock all are here. Give this record a chance and you will be rewarded. I have been listening to this for about two weeks now and it is my new favorite album. Very cool and relaxing music. He is still the man. Highlights are Clouds, Art Official Cage, U Know, Way Back Home. But there isn't a bad song here. You have to be patient with this one though. Don't be too quick to dismiss.

After buying the music and listening on my stereo and not head phones the song "this could be us" sparked me. I'm thinking this is Prince's version of being mainstream and it is awesome. Therefore every song became transending and relavent with today's music. But he makes music like only he can with meaning and love for his art. I also realized this is The Artist of pure music at 56 constructing his art with some artifficial sounds in this art official age.........now that's genius because I get it.....lol

This album is genuine Prince. Simple chord structures that are literally addictive. I play “Clouds” every morning to start my day, then I allow the rest of the album to give me the energy I need. I WILL BE AT THE NEXT CONCERT...

Let's keep it real people. Prince as a musician is one of the best, As a producer, fair. But as a lyricist..... same old topics he's always done B 4. He sings about God, spirituallity, love & sex. I have grown up listening to him & want to continue to have new ideas & topics with contempoary lyrics to sing along wiht put forth from Prince. Musically, I dig most of it. Yet I Can't relate to his outdated lyrics.

I like many have been a fan since the beginning circa 1979 before there was a 1999 reference. I fell completely head over purple heels in love with Mr. Nelson on a July day in 1984 when he was literally displayed larger than life on a silver screen. I have adored him ever since. Yep 1984 Prince is great but this album leaves you breathless. It can stand toe to toe with any of his prior work. Prince has merged old school funk in with a little new age enlightenment and like always has given us a peek into his world. Thank you Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson...I blow you a purple kiss.

I have been listening/singing to Prince since I made my Aunt sing "I wanna be ur lover" when I was four years old...the one thing you can count on from him is his artistry. He's never written songs for them to be 'hits' he writes and sings what he feels. And if people don't get it, go back to your generic music with that 'hook' your looking for. There's more to him, and music than being in the top twenty...he's been around too long, a musical genius, and has a loyal fan base, he can do what he wants! And those of us who get it are the lucky ones...

This cd is simple crazy. Funky. Weird. Fun. If you like Prince and want a trip 2 take....take this one! In some ways it makes me think of things like Housequake, PartyUp, LoveSexy, 0(+>, etc etc....makes me smile and think of just why I got into Prince in the first place!

Prince is Prince but he's always a king. This album is different and fresh I love 9 songs on the album, I "like" 3 and that says a lot. There are so many hits on this album especially Art official cage and U Know. Prince will always be the best. He can never fail and he proves that still in 2014

One of the things about Prince’s music over the last decade is that it takes some time to sink in. Breakfast can Wait really underwhelmed me when it first came out and now increasingly I find I can’t get it out of my head. His music today isn’t as melodic or full of hooks as the best of his pop stuff in the past did, but the longer more subtle grooves repay repeated listening. Of course, this isn’t a good formula for sending him back to the top of the charts but nothing he has done recently suggests that’s his primary goal anyway. So I think Art Official Age is a strong album that is getting better the more time I spend with it.

This is one of the best solo projects by this genius. If you are a true fan, you will enjoy this musical collection. Every single song is worth listening to. The music is not just good but the lyrics will make you think. I had waited for this album for years and so happy that he gave me this gift. It makes me wanna dance and sing. So entertaining and very enjoying. Prince has fused all of musical talents from his old days into his new days reinventing his sound for the all generations. You have to be alive to hear what he saying and how he is playing. Everybody needs to get this!!!!

Prince4life! I like all the songs but my favs are U Know, This Could Be Us, What It Feels Like, Breakdown, Time, Affirmation III, and I LOVE Way Back Home! If you disagree, it's because you don't know real music.

Folks....we evolve. You can go back and like "For You", and still like this album. This piece is actually one of his best albums in quite some time. I count one song that sounds off (Gold Standard)...and that is because it sounds like a throwback. Funknroll throws me for a loop at the end, but I'll still take it. The best song...and it snuck up on me...is Affirmation III. Listen to it, and you will hear as he is "being re-animated" his heart is beating. Having four kids, I know that he used the heart beat from an ultrasound. It's hot. Wish it was longer. The creativity is there. It's a chill album. Just let it play.
