Leon Bridges is everything I've been looking for and I never even knew. His music is so beautifully articulated and so soulful it speaks to me. I'm more into pop and hip hop but this definitely hit me. I'm only fifteen and this took me back to all the stories that my parents and grandparents tell. We definitely need more music like this. I watched him on the apple music festival and he killed it. I'm officially a fan because he opened my eyes to what real music is.

Dug this guy up a long time ago and it was the best thing I ever did He is incredibly talented and amazing and if you are questioning whether or not you should buy the album, just stop. There is no question. Buy it now and pat yourself on he back for making the right decision.

Listened to it around 7 times today.

Sam Cooke not so much. Nowhere near as much vocal proficiency nor is there as much soul. When this music was actually new, it had a sense of urgency and discovery and Sam Cooke was on fire. Simply playing the chords, copying the style and laying on some so-so lyrics isn't enough, although it’s a nice try. Give Sam Cooke or Wilson Picket or Otis Redding a listen. There is no comparison.

I completely agree with reviewer "Polaris 16"… this artist is exceptional, but sadly the recordings are exceptionally poor. This is the first time I have regret from downloading music off of the iTunes store. I can't begin to understand how any producer or music store (which ever is responsible) can justify polluting and artist's work, as is the case in this instance. I downloaded the album while at a coffee shop in Midtown Reno; a hip new district with lots of great eateries, pubs, and coffee shops--all with their own music. I downloaded the album and listen to it at the coffee shop with all the background noise. Afterwords, I listened to it again on my bike ride home with all the traffic noise in the background. It was only later, in the comfort and relative silence of my apartment, that I could hear the terrible recordings!!…… Wish I could get my money back and go buy a CD from this hardest without all the hiss and acoustical messiness.

He is bringing back music that is from the 60's and 50's with his own style. This guy is amazing. Nothing short of a Masterpiece. So much soul.

This album is brilliant and it's about time old time R&R found it's way back to the future with a vengeance ala version 2.0.15. Leon is a gifted singer and musician with an old soul. The record is drenched with every emotion he could muster. Take a listen - your heart and ears will thank you!

I stumbled on this young man on the radio and immediately downloaded the album! Terrific! The gospel-soul sound he has is great! I would love him to do a Sam Cook tribute album, just to hear him do the songs.

I have this entire LP. This guy brings back so many memories of my childhood (late 60's- 70-'s) and adollescense of those wondeful Motown artists, Smokey, the Temps, Four Tops and even Marvin and Stevie. Very telented artist. Hope he leads a revival of that incredible Motown sound.

I can't believe that this guy used to come into Potbelly and he would play while we worked, all of the customers loved him! It's amazing to see he's doing GREAT things! He's such a genuine guy, with genuinely great music!!

Heard him live on Conan, was wowed... Like going back in time when music was that... Music! I could tell someone this was from the '60s and they would believe me. Great stuff. Texan boy too... Bought the album, you should too. Good stuff right here.

I've been listening to this album for 4 hours straight. I can't stop listening to it, it's so amazing. His voice is so calming & every song is so great. I don't even listen to music like this normally. I usually listen to Michael Jackson & Tupac Shakur.

Really beautiful music, but he is copying a style that was used 40 years ago. If your going to listen to old sound, why not actually listen to real old stuff like Chuck Berry or the four tops, both of whom are better than this. Music is an evolution. You can hear Beanie Sigel paying homage to the 70s Quincy Jones sound in his music, but he isn't trying to copy them. He uses their sound in a modern beat and genre.

This album is amazing!!! Music that simply moves your soul. When they say "soul music" this album is all that and then some. Leon is definitely a new smoother Sam Cooke. I bought this album Tuesday June 23rd and I've been playing this album on repeat since. Wow, wow, wowwwww!

What a great sound. Very refreshing and yet very retro. I would love to see him in concert to catch a flavor of who he is as a person. I loved “River.” Very honest and humble. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards!
