1. Borders is a metalcore band from Lincoln, United Kingdom. The band consists of vocalist Jordan "JJ" Olifent, guitarist Gavin "Gav" Burton, bassist Tom Britton, and drummer Daniel Hodson. The band's inception occurred when Tom, Gav, and Dan crossed paths during their university studies, bonding over their shared passion for heavy music and subsequently deciding to embark on a musical project together. Soon after, they found vocalist JJ through an advertisement seeking a suitable frontman. The name "Borders" was deliberately chosen to symbolize the societal issues prevalent in the modern world, highlighting the perceived division and boundaries that exist among people despite the increasing levels of connectivity. Borders draws influence from various sources, united by their mutual appreciation for metalcore and the emerging tech/prog metal movement. Gav's inclination towards pop music manifests in their compositions, while JJ's passion for UK grime adds a unique and distinctive flavor to their recent work. The sound of Borders defies easy categorization, blending ferocious and hard-hitting metalcore with elements of hip-hop, grime, hardcore, and alternative metal. The band actively challenges traditional genre classifications, aiming to provide an immersive and profoundly heavy experience that subverts expectations within the metalcore scene. In their lyrical endeavors, JJ invests his emotional intensity into addressing deeply personal and significant topics. Their debut EP "Diagnosed", released in April 2017, confronts corruption within the healthcare industry, with a specific focus on pharmaceuticals, as well as shedding light on JJ's mother's battle with cancer. In May 2019, the band released their debut album "Purify". This album delves into the theme of human corruption. The track "731" delves into the wartime atrocities committed in Japanese experimental camps, while other songs examine contemporary political corruption and speculate on potential future scenarios if current trends persist. The band aspires to bring attention to perceived injustices and inspire contemplation about the state of the world. Gav plays a LTD AW-7 guitar, played through a Kemper. Tom uses a Dingwall Combustion bass, connected to a Darkglass B7K. Dan's drum setup features a TAMA Superstar Hyperdrive kit and Zildjian/Sabian cymbals. The band is currently signed to Long Branch Records. The band was looking for a way to get their music to a wider audience, and with a label that understands their genre and respects their musical direction. The band's collaboration with Long Branch Records came about after their performance during a European tour in Germany, where the label witnessed their impressive set and subsequently reached out to them. Throughout their musical journey, Borders has shared the stage with notable bands such as Whitechapel, Faces Of Eve, and Anti-Clone, effectively showcasing their distinctive djent-oriented progressive metalcore style. 2. Borders (sometimes written as Borders WI) is a four-piece alternative rock band hailing from La Crosse, Wisconsin. The formation of Borders took shape following the dissolution of the band Killians Fault, with members transitioning into this new musical endeavor. The only known member is vocalist Samael. The band released their debut EP, titled "Ordinary Folks," in April 2014. In the same year, they performed two live shows in their hometown of La Crosse. Borders released the single "Ghost Planet" in January 2015. Their influences encompass notable acts such as Circa Survive, Saosin, The Used, Anberlin, and Sleeping With Sirens.
