Cheap Fakes Biography
Brisbane based Cheap Fakes are a seven piece band whose sound is not confined by the limitations of styles or genres. Predominantly steeped in off beat guitars and catchy melodies, the band have been performing their fusion of funk, dub, reggae and dance music to captivated audiences since 2009. Cheap Fakes have quickly become one of Brisbane’s most hard working live acts, performing approximately 60 gigs in their first six months of inception. Packing venues across town with their inimitable sound, the band are regular party favourites at venues such as Lock ‘n’ Load, The JOYnt, Step Inn, The Globe and The Zoo. Proving to be one of Brisbane’s most diverse live acts, Cheap Fakes also secured residencies at the likes of Conrad Treasury Premier’s Bar and Jupiters Casino Poolside. July 2010 saw the release of Cheap Fakes highly anticipated debut album, ‘Stones and Sticks’. Recorded and produced by frontman Hayden Andrews, the album showcases the bands diversity, while at the same time creates a complete album that is engaging, uplifting and most importantly great to dance to. The release of Stones and Sticks saw Cheap Fakes embark on their first tour, including a string of shows in North Queensland and Sydney. The interstate audiences embraced Cheap Fakes unique sound and welcomed them back without hesitation. With an extensive catalogue of songs, the band is already in the pre-production stage of their follow up album and are planning to spend the next few months touring nationally and internationally with their Stones and Sticks release.
