Kyoto

Kyoto Biography

There are four artists sharing the name Kyoto. The name is used by a Portuguese rock band, a Russian ambient DJ, a Post-rock Spanish band and a swedish punk band 1) Russian ambient DJ: Kyoto (real name Vitaly Zenkov) was born on February 8, 1981 in Samara, Russia. Kyoto is a Russian musician and DJ working in ambient and psychill styles. His choice of profession was largely determined by his music tastes. As a student he would listen to Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream. At the age of 18 Vitaly tried his hands at music playing the solo guitar in a rock group and combining acoustic and electronic music. In 2004 Vitaly made his own electronic project which still exists today. Experimenting with various music instruments Kyoto is finding his own electronic sound somewhere between the psytrance, ambient and world music. Kyoto's works are a calm and soothing landscape ambient predominantly shaped by massive tonal patterns and recurring music themes interspersed with multiply reflected high frequency and mid-range samples and a vocal. Occasionally the compositions have trance rhythm structures naturally interwoven with the main ambient substrate. At present Kyoto is performing both as a musician and a DJ. 2) Portuguese rock band: Together since December of 2004, Kyoto a band from Leiria, Portugal are formed by, Nuno Rancho on the Voice and Guitar, Tiago Domingos on the drums, Micael Maldonado on the guitar and Marco Varalonga on de bass, they started by playing covers but some months and some shows later they turned the other way and started working on their own material. They gave their first originals only performance in April of 2006 and never stopped ever since. Their goal: to play their melodic alternative rock in as many different and as far away places as they can! Contundencia embriagadora. 4) Swedish Punk Band - Released three albums and a lot of the lyrics is about onions. The band consists of four members: Pontus Von Frieden - Lead Singer, William Wanilj - Guitar and vocals, Martin Jasmin - Bass and Jesper af Lagerbjälke - drums.
