Northwest Sons

Northwest Sons Biography

The Northwest Sons were formed by Ian Ayers and Chris Molina two singing, song writing guitar players just over a year ago. Both had just ended projects with other local bands and were looking for something new. Together with Art Arzaga playing percussion they wrote a handful of songs and played an acoustic show for the locals in Ocean Shores. The fan support was amazing and motivated them to pursue their goals and become a full band and deliver their reggage music and irie vibe to the Northwest. Their music caught the attention of two other local musicians Bret Bailie and Erik Madsen who wanted in on the growing band. With Bret on drums and Erik on bass The Northwest Sons had reached their first goal of putting together a full band. They started playing local shows at venues such as The Nectar, Columbia City Theatre, King Kat Theatre, and Jazzbones with other well known bands and artists such as Sashamon, Josh Heinrichs, Tribal Seeds, Iration, The B-Foundation, Inhale, One Drop and Mike Pinto to name a few. The fan base was growing quickly and demand for an album was undeniable. Before going into the studio they completed a west coast tour gathering inspiration from fans and experiences to take to the studio for their album. They also had the honor and experience to play for fundraising events for local students and young musicians. The Boundary Line album was completed and released in June 2010 and the Sons were off on their second tour. The demand for the CD was so overwhelming that they sold out before they even made it home from their CD release tour. During this tour they had the opportunity to play with two other well known bands in San Diego, Stick Figure and Stranger. The Boundary Line album is now available on iTunes and has been in the Top 200 reggae albums for weeks in a row and remain listed in the New and Noteworthy category. The Northwest Sons continue to play local shows at music venues, bars, private parties and had the honor of playing in The Seattle Peace Concert series at Volunteer Park and at Hempfest. The Sons are planning their 3rd tour while recording their 2nd album due to be out this Winter. They have gained an amazing Saxophone player Brett Cummings and are very excited to record with him on their new album. The Northwest Sons feel very blessed to be where they are and to have the opportunity to share their music and positive vibes with everyone. They are excited for the future and what it has to offer them and their fans.
