WRG123g - Typical Glasper

Create a groove, repeat it over and over, add light colorings over the top - the Glasper formula...

THEHARLEMITE - THEHARLEMITE

Great addition to RGs black radio series ,as well as carrying on GURU's and miles collabo on jazzamatazz series .carry on RG Let the music take and flow.

puppy drums - Elevator music.

Elevator music. Too bad Miles name is attached to this.

skymind - Modernizing the Master

A great album if you want to show off someone unfamiliar with Miles Davis music who is fond of hip-hop, I can think of no better alternative. 5 Stars. For having the guts to do something that won't please everyone, but for those that will be pleased, will be very much indeed.

Squash - Don't waste your money.

This album, in no way, honors Miles Davis. Robert Glasper is an inconsistent musician - capable of great things but also willing to make projects like this public. Aside from a couple audio bytes from interviews and a few music samples, Davis' iconic sound isn't even represented in this album. One very disappointed musician, here!

upyerbum54321 - Ghetto Walkin'

For future reference for future review readers, rite now, the only song that’s been released is Ghetto Walkin’. There are already a bunch of negative reviews basically saying this entire album is terrible because this single doesn’t sound like Miles Davis. Guys, of course it’s not Miles Davis. Miles Davis is dead. It’s still a good song. It’s simple, but it’s also catchy and chill. The beat keeps you hooked, and the singer is pretty talented. Whoever went into this expecting to hear new music from Miles Davis was setting themselves up for disappointment. My only critique is of iTunes, they should not have listed this as jazz. I think that’s why it’s getting bad reviews, it’s much more r&b than jazz. If you’re a jazz snob expecting the classic Miles Davis, apparently you mite not like this. But if you have a more open taste in music or dig R&B, check it out.

Zfmd88 - Title not category

A definite miss for a music genius like Glasper. If the title didn't have Miles' name in it I would give it a better rating . Jazz defies categorization so I don't agree that it needs to be in the R&B genre. This album evokes ol' school and new school memories of "sounds of blackness " Isaac Hayes, and Kendrick Lamar. NOT MILES DAVIS. Repetitive club beats and drum machines weren't miles' style. And if he were living he would hang with all musicians but more likely to vibe with young lions like Kendrick Scott Oracle, Lionel Loueke and Kamasi Washington . A very deceptive title. There is NO essence of miles in this.

Van Allen 300 - Maters at work

This is going to be great. Anything Robert touches is A+ taking miles and putting his twist on it , it's going to be amazing.

ZeroFeetOver - A Targeted Audience perhaps?

In the iTunes review the writer uses words and phrases like recontextualizing and a nod and rendering unrecognizable to describe what Robert Glasper and the Miles Davis estate have done with this recording. It sounds as though this recording is targeted to a very specific demographic and unfortunately I am not among that group for this recording. I cannot appreciate at all the vocalizations of GAM and HK - whats the point? Were they meant to represent his horn work? As Robert Glasper says "I think Miles Davis would have loved Eryka Badu" (and GAM and HK) but not this bossa nova'd version of Maiysha. I normally greatly enjoy Mr. Glasper's innovative compositions and reimaginings but consider the originals in this case to be much more so than these "reimaginings". There are only a couple of tunes on this entire recording I consider even passable and I am very sorry to have to say this. I truly appreciate the ambition and desire to bring Miles Davis' music to a current generation if that is what was being attempted, but this falls short. Mr. Glasper please try again, please.

50&Fig - Ugh

Just what Miles needed- to be made to play second fiddle to a bunch of vocalists who couldn't tie his shoelaces. I really don't understand why this needed to exist or what good it is supposed to do for Miles' godlike legacy. And btw this is coming from a hardcore fan who loves (at least some stuff from) every era of Miles, AND the remixes and reworks like Panthalassa and plenty of tributes, from Cassandra Wilson's to the Miles En Espanol record to Kind Of Reggae. This is just not good.

tecrunner - Blasphemy

Wow, really?

cufluf - Good effort

It's an ok album but it feels like its missing something. There's some good tracks like "right on brotha" feat. Stevie wonder but overall I cant see my self coming back to this albums. Hope Mr. Glasper comes with some original comps for his next project.

danielkinkade - barf

Nothing like Miles.

Gr8Daniels - It's bad no matter how you slice it I don't care who's on it

Why can't the guy make it on his own without tagging Miles Davis. I guess there's no shame left.

W$GT$ - it's social music

Anyone that comes here to write a negative review about how this isn't "jazz" or that this isn't miles has zero understanding of what miles davis stood for. This not only helps bring a whole new audience to "jazz" but continues the tradition of Miles Davis and how he kept pushing music forward. With that being said this is the only time I've ever heard miles being sampled correctly. I'm really looking forward to this record.

G$ of CMB - RG's talent & creativity shine !!!

Robert Glasper is one of my favorite artists. He's extremly versatile & can incorporate so many different styles into his music it's unbelievable. Those who came here looking for a straight ahead jazz album obviously are disconnected from the current music scene. It was clear what this project was going to be a year ago. The Robert Glasper Trio plays that type of music, this is in the vein of the Robert Glasper Experiment. Any true fan of Miles knows that he also played many different styles over here career

Guitarjuncky2 - Haven't listened...

Just the fact that the title says Miles Davis and Robert Glasper diminishes the worth of Miles just as the new film has. It's an obvious marketing tactic and smart people are not going to fall for it, unless you're a Trump supporter. Nice one BlueNote, sell sell sell...

djlack1 - Solid album

This is a RG album with a Miles Davis spin, not the other way around. Understand that and you will really enjoy this album.

A Proper Musician 123 - Miles

This is awful.

Garveyette - Miles would be proud

You don't get to dictate what Black people can and cannot do with OUR creations. This is a great album and Miles would be proud Thanks RG!

Lady1911 - Not Miles

Don’t come here to listen if you are looking for Miles.

Karsten1786 - Garbage

I want a refund.

2ndIIONE - Supreme!

I once considered myself a pure Jazz snob looking for pure essence in the music & instrument(s) not thinking that The pioneers of Jazz would influence/inspire others to be who they are and represent art that shows respect to the original format conceived before them. I love this track by Robert Glasper & Bilal- not only does the original by Miles Davis has something vocally to say...it speaks volumes with rhythm or should I say Groove alone. Robert Glasper & Bilal kept that format with the epitome to vocalize what remains present in this world...Hate/Love/Disregard for mankind. To those who read the above reviews- know that we all have our own opinion. However true rhetoric will prevail to false things. This is Beautiful work- They can't hold me down. ✌🏾️

Impossiable - Awful

I haven't heard Miles yet doesn't sound like him mess up his style I bet he's turn over in his grave mad as heck 😡

Miss Jai 75 - I look forward to it.

So far, I'm liking Ghetto Walking and love Violets. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the album. Robert Glasper is a musical genius. Glad to know that Miles' son and other relatives participated in this project.

Bruno Taut - Cheap

Cheap thrills.

playitbetter - Everything's Beautiful - Miles Davis and Robert Glasper

All you let us hear is "Ghetto Walkin.'" Where's Miles? Just some typical vocals to try and make typical commercial pablum. Miles is climbing out of his grave to whack Glasper over the head with a lightning trumpet bolt from that part of heaven creates and allows all good jazz to happen. How dare Robert to drag Miles into the worst corporate copycat commercial slobber I've heard yet. NO GOOD. Not worth a rating. I would hope there are other redeeming tracs.

Hunter Smith - What is this even

Why is Miles’ name on this?

Ahsyiam - Quality work👍😊

A very nice compilation of artistry well worth it.

Miles & Robert - Narrow Minded Listeners

This is NOT supposed to be exactly like Miles! Don Cheadle himself says Miles was always expanding music, and he would be working with artists like Robert Glasper and Kendrick Lamar if he was still alive. This album excites me. The genre fusions are interesting and Robert is keeping jazz relevant!!

Phareal84 - Dope

I seen the mention of this being released on Facebook. And I was elated that these two songs when available for purchase. Beautiful infusion of hiphop and jazz. Must have. we are talking about Robert Glasper and 9th Wonder. Can't wait for the whole album to be released.

abbie12115 - CLONE ALERT

Not the real Miles Davis some idiot Clone is using his name and it’s SICK

buizel123 - Why is Robert Glasper allowed to go into the master tapes?

Some things should remain untouched…

Batz1973 - This ain't it

The trouble with Miles is that he left us wanting more. =\

jaydoug85 - can we not put this in the jazz section

This is R&B music.. When is RG gonna do actually jazz again. CANVAS, ELEMENT.. those albums really expressed RG's creativity. this bilal song got like 2 chords.. I could play it.. RG if your reading this.. BRING back the JAZZ..at least just one for your older fans..

dleesmith - Don't mix

Sorry Miles

Calliet - Fraud~ How can they use an icon's name?

Somebody may have been named after Miles Davis. Understandable but this is very misleading. Silliness.

sjordon3 - Love the Sampling of Miles

This is a nice groove that stands on it's own. The smooth caressing chill beats and Bilal's voice are a perfect. Even at 1:35 it felt a little abrupt at first, but now that is my fav section of the song. (at 51 plays) I look forward to the rest of the album. The concept is amazing. I enjoy the evolution of music and paying tribute back. "Grandma's hands prayed for me. But these streets still preyed on me." Nice on so many levels.

Jayroxxxx - YOU can't hold me down!!

Ok...it's not the old Miles that you were expecting, nor was it meant to be. IMO this compulation represents is a good mix of Robert Glasper's Jazz Fusion Neo Soul style, with tasteful hints of Miles Davis updated for today, and intertwined into a Fresh Jazz Neo Soul Taffy for 2016. Just like one of the rules Miles lived, he did not believe in stagnation, but lived in an ever changing state of evolution. If you don't like the album don't buy it, but respect the Miles Davis Estate, Robert Glasper, and those of us that do. Peace to all.

ineed2write - Neosoul Jazz hip hop

I really enjoy this album Miles Davis tracks with DOPE rhymes is like cookie n Cream. Those of you who are looking for just Miles this is not the case. RG has sampled Miles Davis best work of art and made it his own! 10000 stars for me!

Tony711 - Evolution at it's best

Listening to Miles Davis from the beginning until this genius sadly left us reminds me of just how innovative & evolutionary he was. We've only heard 1 cut from this upcoming record(ghetto walkin') & for me, this feels so good. I think it represents what Miles was all about. This is a Miles Davis & Robert Glasper project. R G, thank you for putting your innovative spin with the inspiration of a musical genius on this record. You are a genius in your own right. I am so much looking forward to the full release of this album. T

congomonkey - Maybe Hiatus Coyote can save it!

Cuz this stuff stinks.

Nozz123 - Acceptance and Understanding

As individual critics, we all must approach every album with acceptance and understanding for the artists vision. Robert Glasper takes hold of that ubiquitous Miles mentality of pushing the envelope and develops an album worthy of epic praise. As other reviews mention, Miles has long since left us. However, Davis' impact on Glasper is ever present. Glasper has reinvented the odds and ends Miles recorded with Columbia over thirty years ago, into a groove that surely the great, ever-cool, trumpeter would appreciate. Listeners, hold fast to the undeniable talent and unique sound that is laid down on Everything's Beautiful. - Nozz
