What a tragedy for Chester that going for melody and music over screams and head banging brought such backlash from the fandom. I put off purchasing this, their final album, due to negative reviews... but it's masterpiece, and y'all did Chester so wrong by ragging on it. Expand your horizons, box dwellers. So sad.
Itâs definitely not the change towards pop. Thatâs not why I donât like this album very much. I thought there was some great songs in here (Talking to Myself, Invisible, Halfway Right and One More Light) but the other songs are just a little boring and generic. Itâs just not as exciting or as catchy as their previous work. By the way, a note to idiots who accuse of them selling out. Just because a band or artist wants to change their sounds does not automatically mean they are just doing it for money. You morons donât know what youâre talking about. Youâre not in charge of what music they put out. If you think you are, you should just not listen to music. And you shouldnât rate music just because it doesnât sound like their old songs. Duh. Music will change over time. If they copied Hybrid Theory and Meteora every single album it would have gotten old fast and a lot more boring. Even though I didnât like this album very much, itâs not because they changed their sounds. Itâs because their songs were just not as good as they could have been. Itâs really sad what happened to Chester, though. Thanks for my whole childhood music. RIP Chester.
Great album
Well well well time has come for us all. Anyways itâs rlly good gotta say good ending after his hanging
â€ïž
This song is awesome.bottom line.
I love it...I guess my tastes have evolved, but so have they. For the better. I still love the originals too.
Without Chester, Linkin Park is no longer Linkin Park to me. As a child I listened to them in the car with my mom, so this band is very sentimental to me. Itâs just not Linkin Park anymore for me. RIP Chester, we hope youâre doing okay. We all miss you. We lost a legend .
I feel like Linkin Park has gone back and forth with their music quite about. Sometimes they sound like classic LP and sometimes they donât. But I really like this one! From good goodbye to one more light, itâs just such a good album.
Selling out and evolving arenât the same.
One more light is the best song in the world!
It's a softer album. But cant ever go wrong with listening to Linkin Park. This album got me through a lot during a hard time. Can't imagine life without ever hearing it. Still will always love it.
All there doing is experimenting with different genres. And it sounds pretty good.
Really??? Lol
Having grown up listening to LP, this is certainly a change from the original style, but not an unpleasant one. As the musicians have grown and evolved, so has the music they write. While not the same as the original style, LP is still there, writing strong music.
How can you go from the hunting party to this Justin Bieber sound! If I wanted to go listen to Justin Bieber I would! You guys donât deserve to be called hard rockers after this awful album! How could you have brought such an awful album into this world! Did you guys really think this album was gonna do well? This album has no effort put into it and itâs all just pre recorded garbage just to make a quick few bucks! You guys are all sellouts! I need to go wash out my ears after hearing this awful thing! Itâs a shame that a lot of your later work was so awful! You guys took it too far with this album! Iâll go listen to one direction after this! It probably sounds just the same! Like garbage! Sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts sellouts, sellouts, sellouts, sellouts You guys are greedy and only want our money. If you really cared about us you wouldnât have made this album!
People need to know that bands just canât stick to one type of sound
I Never Thought That LP Would Do A Pop Genre Album And Iâm a big fan of Pop so this Album For Me is a 5/5
Becase i miss him đ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„șđ„ș RIP LIKIN PARK.
what happened to old rock LINKIN PARK???
I know this album doesnât jive well with many of the previous albums of linkin park, but câmon the songs in this album are still incredible. I think this album is very important in that it gave us a pretty clear picture of Chesterâs mind in a way that I personally donât think other albums did. This album feels like it was more personal and close to Chester. Maybe thatâs just me. Well I guess it is since practical nobody likes this album.
The significance of this album takes a different turn after Chesterâs death. He sounds depleted in this album, almost at a loss, ready to give up. Too poppy, too radio friendly⊠not the Linkin Park Iâm sure fans are used to. One More Light is a beautiful song - the best on the album. Talking to Myself is underrated and Heavy is actually quite meaningful. Good Goodbye makes me want to throw this album in the garbage. Listen to their first four or five albums!
And the Savage Garden remix album's just keep coming. Kept hope alive that they would rebound back to the Hybrid Theory (era) rock sound that broke this band out, but I guess we kissed that goodbye after their 3rd album. Pretty much just got the album out of respect for the dead, but the album itself is nothing but a complete disappointment.
I canât believe itâs already been 5 years since Chester passed away. Me and my wife got married on July 12th 2017. And he died July 20th 2017 crazy, my wife was a big fan of them. Cause I got her into them. This album sounded amazing. And itâs sad people hated it. Chester needed us and everyone kept making his life worse. Still miss him to this day.
Bubble gum pop. I canât listen to their other albums without knowing that they will never make anything new again. If the Hunting Party and Living Things is where they fell. This is where they crashed.
We MISS you Chester. I know where you were at when you did it. I suffer from depression due to health problems. Your beautiful soul will be missed buddy. Your music touched so many of us. To many people judge greatest when they couldnât even see the beautiful light you and Linkin Park are/were. This album is way more powerful then I realized. Peace brother.
Words can't describe the meaning behind this album that many will look past... rip Chester Bennington , you were an amazing person and a huge part of my childhood. You music will forever live on and hold a special place in our hearts .
Can we please talk about how LP consistently predicted music trends - metal, rap, alternative, pop, even EDM - and If their albums had come out even a month before the other big artists of the time, that LP, not these other artists, would be the top dog in music? Yes, not everything is my favorite - but everything is still so raw and new and experimental and exciting. And OH MY GOSH - âOne More Lightâ messed me up. An absolutely gorgeous track. The best song on the album, in my humble opinion. RIP Chester Bennington.
OneMore Light has such a strong meaning that so many seem to miss.
So people giving 1 star are haters đ€Šđœââïž itâs at least a 3/5 had some amazing songs on here. R.I.P. Chester
Mates a legend. The songs were cries for help, but no one heard those cries. RIP Chester. đȘŠ
You can tell Chester knew what was about to happen. If you read between the lines of the titles he was basically saying goodbye. We miss you Chester
This is an interesting album personally. Of course this is different compared to the other releases but itâs no different from the rest. I would say give it a chance. I would say itâs not the first time a band has done this. Especially these guys
Hybrid Theory and Meteora dropped when I was in high school and Linkin Park has been near and dear to my heart ever since, so I bought this album without previewing any tracks or reading any reviews because their past albums have always been solid regardless of sound variations. Serves me right! If they wanted to drastically change their sound like this, they should have pulled a Tool and released it under a pen name like A Perfect Circle (but APC is actually good). There's a grand total of TWO songs on this album that sound anything at all like LP; everything else is forgettable cookie cutter generic pop garbage. If I want to listen to generic pop I'll listen to generic pop. When I listen to LP I expect LP or at least something *resembling* LP, and that is unfortunately completely missing from this disappointment of an album. How horrible that this was Chester's last work.
I love this band, theyâve always stood out. It goes without saying that this doesnât sound at all like any previous version of Linkin Park, and thatâs fine, bandâs change. But this sounds like one of any 400 pop songs that you find on any pop station. Just a crappy, lazy album.
A new sound for a familiar band. Testing the waters of new sounds as they have in the past for the year. Chester really shows his vocal skills here as well as other members of Linkin Park show their creative sides coming through.
Love this album and love every album
Great album.
One More Light is for REAL fans only!
My son & I are huge LP fans. We went to a concert in FL & did the VIP experience, it was awesome & he won an LP jacket, signed set list & picks. I was so distraught over Chesterâs suicide, listening to LP was just to sad for me. I couldnât do it & havenât been able to for more than 2 years. I JUST heard âOne More Lightâ today (1/3/2020) & itâs so apparent how badly Chester was hurting. I will be forever saddened by his loss but I am finally able to listen again & am so grateful that he graced this world for the time that he did with far more than just a flicker!!! May you forever soar with the angels Chester.
Man Chesterâs vocals were amazing!!! Love this song, R.I.P Chester!!!
Sit back and listen youâll see how underrated this actually is
May Chester Rest In Peace, he was phenomenal. But they were too busy experimenting (which always means to go pop) that they didnât stay true to their roots. They made a pop album. I gave it a chance, canât do it. Any successful band that tried that hard to defend an album, made a bad album. Chester can come back from the dead and punch me in the mouth all he wants, wonât change a thing. Too busy calling Trump worse than a terrorist to write something like Numb or Crawling. Itâs a shame, Ik they had it in them. I hope wherever Chester is now, that heâs doing much better than his last days w/ us.
I heard LP for the first time in 2007 at age 47. This band was different. Their lyrics resonated with me, even Chesterâs scringing screaming resonated. This album and the Birmingham Live album are hard to listen to without tears, especially the gorgeous song One More Light. I appreciate their talent and the work ethics they have in creating the music that they love and want to share with the rest of the world. Rest In Peace Chester. I miss you terribly.
[Original ReviewâŠ] I own all the other LP albums. I went along for the ride through all their experimentation. I just listened to the samples in anticipation of just buying and downloading the album, but ICK! It sounds like all the other over-produced, autotuned pop dreck out there. Phoning it in are we, boys? I loved "Hunting Party" and "A Thousand Suns", but man these songs sound so meh. I think I'm gonna just wait for the next album in the hope they do a 180 and go back to some harder stuff and not more of this beta lameness. [A while laterâŠ] I changed it from a 1 to a 4. Itâs not the best LP, but I have a better sense of it now. I could always tell Chesterâs influence in LP songs because Mike and Chester just influence the words and music differently, but itâs pretty blatant here. The tracks with his fingerprints play like a trail of suicide notes that nobody understood in time. Every time I hear âNobody Can Save Meâ, âHeavyâ, and âOne More Lightâ, it chokes me up. âBattle Symphonyâ sounds like heâs trying to keep himself together and failing. So I donât dislike this album like I did before, and I listen to it more now. I left up my original review because thatâs what I thought at first. It took listening to the words, and the context of Chesterâs death, to turn it from mere pop music to a message. I just hope Chester is finally at peace. BTW, if youâre a musician and think writing a song as a suicide note is a good cry for help, no, no itâs not. Put down the sheet music, guitar, and edgyboi makeup, and call your local hotline for help. You, and the people you love, will be better off if you do.
Great album, band, and music.
One more light very sad and great.
One of my favorite albums foreverâ€ïž
Terrible album. Really sad this was the last thing Chester did with Linkin park.
