Amazing album. Royce really reflects on his life, family, addiction, and clarifies a lot of stuff on this album. Didn’t care for Logics verse at all but thankfully it’s not a part of the hard copy album. 5 stars!

This album is a genuine artistic masterpiece. The songs show the listener the story Royce is trying to convey, rather than just telling it. They evoke images of his childhood experiences as he relates them to challenges he faced as an adult in an effort to come to terms with the events of his life. The lyrics of "Life is Fair" and "Boblo Boat" bring you into the dreamscape of his memories and allows the listener to experience his nostalgia. The couplet of "Who Are You" followed by "Cocaine" presents a beautiful reflection confronting the troubles of his childhood caused by his father's addiction and the impact it had on the later challenges in his life. In general, this album is truly amazing. In my opinion, the only way to truly experience the emotional impact of this album is to listen to the whole thing from start to finish in the order of arrangment.

I’ve never heard a worse complete album. It makes me think that Royce got a head injury.

This is a about real life

This is basically a concept album but actually Royce’s reality and I feel this album should really be listened to from beginning to end. While I normally never listen to skits, the skits on this album are important to the overall story of the album. Royce’s stories are touching and heartbreaking as he answers his son’s questions throughout the album. I’m so glad I listened to this in its entirety. It makes every song stronger. Don’t just listen to Bad Meets Evil Caterpillar, there are so many more important songs on this album. Dumb, Cocaine, Life Is Fair, Legendary, Strong Friend, etc. You get the point. This is an album to experience and follow Royce through each story he vividly portrays.

This is a classic. It is a beautiful piece of work. I love concept albums and I haven’t heard one in a long time. This is exceptionally well do and everyone should experience it.

I’ve listened to about every new Hip-Hop, Rap, and Mumble Rap album released this year so far. The Book of Ryan is the best album i’ve listened to so far. The stories, the lyrics, the word play, the beats, features, all of it is perfect. Royces best album in my opinion. If you like Hip-Hop you’ll love this tape. Even if you’re into Rap and Mumble Rap there will be songs on this album you’ll like. Defiantly the Hip-Hop album of the year, right in front of KOD.

Royce da 5'9" brought his A game for this album. Almost a year later from its release the album is as great as it was then. Royce deserves way more recognition than he gets, and its a shame seeing someone so talanted not get the props he deserves. Hopefully he continues to evolve in the current rap game so he can one day be seen as one of the best lyracists of his generation/all time.
