Felix Snow - Kids today missed out...

If you were born after 1990, you've not experienced sweet beautiful music like the Carpenters made. It's not too late to enjoy it, though!

ScannerJammer - Beautiful music

To the trained ear, the differences in arrangements are kind of small, but still worthwhile.

BC5519 - Canā€™t stop listening!

Have always loved the Carpenters. This album is wonderful.

Arthur Bresloe - Richard's Crowning Achievement

How appropriate for the genius Richard Carpenter to perfect his already near perfect arrangements in the legendary Abbey Road Studios! He has managed to fill in spaces and yet Karen's voicde remains as front & center, if not more so, than ever before. By reducing the white noise static caused by CD recording, Karen sounds intimate as if she's singing next to you. P.S. The Target exclusive incudes a bonus track: Please Mister Postman which has been turned inside out to sound like a Beatles arrangement - very Eleanor Rigby. All of this is sublime!

teddinut - Must have for any Carpenters fan!

Incredible arrangements...just beautiful. Love it Richard!

haleighmooring - Extraordinary

This is possibly the best rearrangement of The Carpentersā€™ music yet!! Ignore everyone who says,ā€whatā€™s the difference?ā€ There are so many great and new musical additions and the strength of Karenā€™s voice is like never before. Itā€™s like I get to relive discovering The Carpenters for the first time all over again. Richard Carpenter is truly a genius.

philfnyc - Pop Perfection

Carpenters iconic songs have been remastered with the addition of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a fuller, richer sound. The arrangements and harmonies are still unmistakably Carpenters. Karen's voice shines: lush and rich with breathtaking highs and devastating lows. In a time where vocal prowess is measured by runs, it is refreshing to hear Karen's hauntingly, silky voice where she is holding each note with her beautifully tempo'd vibrato.

Tony in Nashville - Carpenters Masterpiece

This may very well go down as the masterpiece in the Carpenters' catalog, the pinnacle of their output. Richard has perfectly married new orchestrations performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with his sister Karen's timeless voice. He deftly uses interludes to re-introduce familiar songs, and he adds lovely embellishments to his already iconic arrangements to great effect. "I Just Fall in Love Again" and "Baby It's You" are especially stunning. Karen's voice sounds more upfront in the mix and you'd swear she's sitting right beside you singing. As a longtime fan, this album has vaulted to the top of my list of favorites. Highly recommended.

QDoc - Its as if they are right in my living room!

I don't know what people expected 15 years later, but I will have to say that yes the individual songs sound very similar to when originally released. The difference is the overall affect. I felt as if I was taken on a journey, a very pleasant journey down memory lane. The back ground Orchestra was a nice addition and made the whole listening experience new and different, elevating each song from it's original status. It seems meant to be listened to as a whole, not picking and choosing which song and which order it was heard in. To me, It seemed like Richard chose specific songs and a specific listening order, to achieve a unique and pleasurable listening experience. A job well done Richard! Thank You!!!

Best Generation - Thank you Richard C. !!

I must admit when the Carpenters were first out and making hits I could not admit to friends that I loved their music. It was a little out of style if you were a rock and roll fan like myself. But when I hear Karen and Richard now it brings nothing but good memories flooding back. Richard's arraingments and musical genius is on full display again. Karen got most of the attention but Richard really deserves a lot more credit than he ever received. This collection is fun to listen to and should be part of your collection.

Boygotit - Thanks Richard!

I just purchased this album today. It is beautifully done. Richard has such an amazing ear for music. It is just new enough that diehard fans like me feel like it is new music while the average person might not notice any difference. I am amazed at how everything added and nothing detracted from the original sentiment. So glad to see Richard do this. Richard, I hope you know you still have many fans out here who love your work!

IQ & Modern Prog Fan - Simply Beautiful

To the dear Carpenterā€™s fans: This is a refreshing update of, dare I say, perfection. An embellishment of the wonderful songs we know in infinite detail, only with a fresh view through the lens weā€™ve all been listening to for so very long. I personally appreciate that itā€™s 2018, and unexpectedly, found this updated gem. Iā€™ve been a diehard fan since CTY, fell deeply in love with the Carpenters album (3rd LP), and had my life changed for the better with A Song For You. Seriously, to have something, anything ā€œnewā€ is so unexpected and appreciated is an understatement. To have something of this quality is almost too much to believe. Thank you, Richard. Great job, and thank you for the subtle orchestrations that add new life to an already nearly perfect, now one step closer to perfection, musical landscape. Well done. Please consider some new RC material. Iā€™ll be here, listening, waiting.

powerpop25 - I like it

Although there are fans of Carpenters that will understandably stick by the originals (which are masterpieces in their own right), I like the refreshing of the arrangements and remixing of this disc. Not as a truly *new* recording, but as a contrast in artistic license. Richard has strengthened the drum tracks in many of these recordings, added a nice trumpet solo in ā€œGoodbye to Loveā€ (very reminiscent to me of George Martin/Beatles) and ended ā€œHurting Each Otherā€ and ā€œYesterday Once Moreā€ cold rather than faded. Nice orchestral interludes/segues were added between many songs. This disc is not for the casual Carpenters listener, Iā€™m sure, but for the artistic listener that appreciates the evolution from the mind of an often underrated musical genius.

notes121 - Lovely

While I personally think the orginials were already perfect and these changes not necessary, good for Richard for doing what makes him happy. I hope he enjoyed his time at Abbey Road and adding to his legacy with these additions. I look forward to hearing the completed album. Richard, please record and release some more new solo music of your own. Update: WOW. Just updated to 5 stars. Gorgeous.

Itan2much - A Wonderful Remix

I love the Carpenters and their music never grows old or stale . . . well, at least for me. As a teen, I played clarinet in both a band and orchestra. I love what the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra adds to these two wonderful voices. Brilliant remix. The songs sound new.

jcarolfi - Iconic Songs in Thier Fully Realized Splendor

This is a lovely tribute to one the finest pop vocalists and one of the best musical teams of the 20th Century. It's pristine Carpenters. After all the orchestra has had more than 40 years to perfect their performance. Not a single note is out of place and yet nothing feels strained or contrived - not even the electric guitar solo in Goodbye to Love. It's timeliness, yet still a ride in the way, way back machine. Thank you Richard for taking these original recordings to the absolute highest level possible. It is your and Karen's rightful legacy of song.

mr1take - Close to You$

How can you do so many Carpenter songs and not include "Cloae to You"?

schnookdawg - Pure PERFECTION!

Karenā€™s irreplaceable voice surrounded and now lifted by Richards perfection making talents. Will be. Sure to give you goosebumps. Some, as RC has said, are definitely ā€œchill factor songs.ā€ A MUST HAVE

PiratePig77 - Love this!!

The only thing better than The Carpenters music is The Carpenters with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I listen to it all the time, especially at work. Great stress reliever with a calming vibe.

H.hajime - Thank you Richard

Tears overflowed and did not stop. why? A wonderful arrangement. I also like the original, but I am very glad that I could hear this New Album. Thanks Richard, and I love you so much Karen

Sam_ing - Something wrong with "Yesterday Once More"

Why does the "Yesterday Once More" in this album end so abruptly? It sounds like an edit problem here.

claudiocesar - Beautifully done..

The arrangements are just beautiful , respecting and making the originals just timeless now .. is a magical tribute to Karen Carpenter spirit. She never felt so much nostalgically and melancholic alive ā¤ļø

Mr. O.B.G.(Oldies But Goodies) - The Carpenters And The Royal Philharmonic

I had my doubts about this release because of the gapless presentation. Don't let that stop you from purchasing this album. From what I can hear, only Tracks 3 & 10 are affected when you start playing them. They pick up the ends of tracks 2 & 9 respectively. The songs sound great and are much clearer and less bass heavy than their previous releases. I thought to myself, what more orchestration could be added to improve the originals? Give a listen and you'll hear the difference. Get this compilation! Also check out the other Artists in this series. Elvis, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison and who could ever forget Aretha Franklin!

J. Gaudette - 70s Reprise - Still classics

Karen Carpenter's angelic voice, Richard Carpenter's arrangements, backed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Greatness revisited with a light, orchestral touch. Listening to these songs was like visiting an old friend I hadn't seen in nearly 40 years. "Those Good Old Dreams" would have been a great song for this album. I miss Karen & Richard.

arf243 - The Carpenters with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Fabulous!

macking301 - Majesty! šŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ’•

Take the perfect and beautiful voice, add The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with brother Richard's genius and you have it all! This is an "epic" album that will leave you smiling! It's a step that most groups don't take but on December 7th, The Carpenters will reveal this huge orchestra with sound from the amazing Carpenters! Enjoy this as this is the last real genious you will ever hear from Karen and Richard Carpenter! ENJOY! 12/2018 WoW!

Michael6185 - Thank you Richard!

As a longtime fan of Carpenters since 1970, I never thought I would have the chance to 'Fall In Love Again' with their music but this album, thanks to Richard's fresh take on the classic arrangements/orchestrations, offers just that. There are so many new touches sprinkled in that perhaps only diehard fans will notice but nonetheless give these musical masterpieces an unexpected freshness. Thank you Richard for your talent and dedication to your art.

PJMarnie - Fantastic Collection

Fans from yesterday, new ones or any lover of timeless lyrics will love this album of mainly classics (and some superb album cuts) by this best selling duo. Karenā€™s haunting, one-of-a-kind voice and Richardā€™s skilled arrangements augmented by the Royal Philharmonic are a combination made in heaven. Todayā€™s improvements in technology result in Karenā€™s voice sounding here like sheā€™s sitting right beside you, singing every perfect note of these songs so many of us know by heart. Each track is golden in this collection, but standouts are I Just Fall In Love Again, Ticket To Ride, Baby Itā€™s You and Goodbye to Love. This is a purchase you will never regret.

Jimmyoneman - Excellent

A worthwhile purchase for any Carpenters fan or any musical person. The clarity of Karenā€™s voice on these recordings is remarkable. The introduction and bridge to Karen on ā€˜For All We Knowā€™ is incredible; this song alone and what was done with it is so good ā€” I canā€™t even put it into words. I love the ā€œcant we stopā€ sharp ending of ā€˜Hurting each Otherā€™ and the similar ending treatment on ā€˜Ticket to Rideā€™. It must have been hard to improve on these recordingsā€” but for the most part RC did. Thank you Richard for creating this reinterpretation. No one is more deserving of the success you and Karen have had and will continue to haveā€”no one. God bless.

RobE - So Sorry

But this release is not fresh and new. Richardā€™s initial arrangements surpasses the new material. And, as an audio file with top end equipment, I must say that the limiting and compression are very heavy. Wish that wasnā€™t so. And Iā€™ll buy the vinyl release in hope of better mastering. In the mean time, enjoy your original vinyl and CDs.

Maryland Pizza - Sounds like original

Iā€™m a long time loyal Carpenters fan and own all of their CDs. In listening to the sound clips, these arrangements sound very similar to the original. Since the original arrangements on CD or so clear and beautiful, Iā€™m wondering what is different about this CD. That said, since the original arrangements were so beautiful, it didnā€™t make sense to change much even when you add the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Update: I just bought CD from Target, because that CD has bonus track! Please Mr Postman, I believe.

Bluefeather - Let Q have a go at it

My initial joy at seeing a new release was quickly quashed after realizing nothing changed. My wish is that someone would buy the rights to Karenā€™s vocal tracks and deconstruct the overproduction and background vocals. I would love to hear all her vocals with minimal instrumentation and NOTHING ELSE! Let Quincy have a go at it. Her solo album is my favorite so he might be the perfect person to unleash the magic that is Karenā€™s voice.

lonegull101 - Too much

Did not purchase after listening to samples. Karen's voice has been so filtered for noise and flaws that it sounds canned, like she is singing in a jar. The amazing quality of her voice is lost has been lost all the processing to remove "flaws". Great idea, the orchestra sounds great, but Karen's voice was ruined in the process.

123456789987654321SJL - Beautiful Album

This is a gorgeous album including their very best work. I highly recommend.

casanova9 - WHAT CAN I SAY.....

IT YESTREDAY ONCEMORE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 70's LIVE!! - Just Pure Sweetness!!

First off congratulations and THANK YOU Richard Carpenter for keeping Karenā€™s memory alive!!!! Her velvety voice puts me back in a time where all had to worry about was borrowing my dadā€™s Impala and picking up my girl. This album I can listen to all night and drift away!!!

wilson702 - Yesterday once more

The voice , the voice my heart hurts when I hear her voice so clear and beautiful !!

The Bradleyss - Good Gawd They Were Horrible

Don't kid yourself, the Carpenters were vomitrociuous dreck that only 80 year olds could possibly associate with RnR or even Pop. They were a mix of bad Show tunes and that most gawd-awful of 1970s formats, Easy Listening. She had a voice made for jingles and he was a garden variety high school music teacher. Unlistenable.

Jym In LA - AMAZING

So perfectly Lovely in every Way One absolute missed moment Would be This orchestra ending with Karenā€™s Theme. A melody so perfectly Built For an Orchestra

Gero Nimus - Songs are Cut Off

These are very good remixes of the original songs. I can hear every instrument, and the strings in the background are subtle but obviously new ā€” I dowloaded 2 songs so far, but they are both cut off at the end of each song ā€” please fix it!

bustersf - I got chills

Karens voice comes though very strong and the new arragements are wonderful! I'm so glad I ordered it. I have been a fan since I was a preteen (long time ago) and to this day Karen still gives me chills when I hear her sing. Great job Richard Carpenter!!!!!

Lee Jewell - What's New?

What's new about these recordings with the exception of the occasional violin interlude? Karen's voice is stronger here than in the originals, but they are the same songs. Just a new compilation re-arrangement. All the songs we already have. Disappointed, and I am a huge fan of Karen & Richard's, but disappointed nevertheless. I was hoping for something fabulous and new.

Peche66 - The Carpenters album Iā€™ve been waiting for

This album is wonderful! I wasnā€™t sure about the idea at first, but the arrangements are perfection, and not over done. The original recordings of these songs are perfect, but this album gives us a closer look into Karenā€™s superb voice. To me, Karen sounds more intimate than original recordings. A lot of the original recordings have that ā€˜openā€™, echoing sound that gives them their ā€˜airyā€™ sound. This album gives us a more ā€˜unpluggedā€™ sound to Karenā€™s voice that makes me feel like Iā€™m actually sitting next to her as sheā€™s singing! Iā€™ve always thought an album produced with Karenā€™s ā€˜rawā€™ vocals would be amazing, and this is it. This album is a pleasant surprise. Well done, Richard!

Matty13798 - Karen would be so proud!

I've been a Carpenters fan for over 40 years. These arrangements with The RPO are phenomenal. Karen would be so proud of Richard and to hear this masterpiece. What a wonderful way to end a year during the holidays. Bravo!

fanofthecarpenters - First 3 songs...

I have always loved the Carpenters music. I have all their regular albums and several of their compilation albums. I'm trying my best to hear something new in the instrumentals but I don't hear anything that would make me want to purchase this collection. Over the years they have released updated versions of their songs on the compilation albums. This one just doesn't scream "BUY ME...I have something new to offer.". I agree with other comments, it would be nice to have new music from Richard...or music they recorded but didn't use on any of their albums.

Woahitshayley - Two talented people.

Nothing is more disgusting than someone commenting that Richards trying to make money off his sisters talent. What does your calendar say honey? Because Iā€™ll tell you what Richards says busy, booked, employed. Beautifully done executes HIS and KARENS beautiful talents once again. Itā€™s ok when the Beatles re release albums but when Richard does it its a attempt at capital gain? Donā€™t think so. Using your voice to say such disgusting and cruel and untrue words about someoneā€™s late sister and bandmate? Canā€™t relate. Should be ashamed to make such projections. A wonderful band consisting of two very talented people Karenā€™s voice and drums, Richards composing, playing, and mastery at song production. As always fantastic and legendary. Iā€™m only 22 and I can tell you there ainā€™t anyone in todays modern music that could pull anything close to a Karen and Richard. šŸ’•

glenncell - A Beautiful Surprise.

Some of the enhancements are subtle but on a great system Karenā€™s voice is so clear and precise that it takes your breath away. A few of the vocal tracks seem different from the originals with some small changes.. from being fans since the beginning this was a treat. I bought a few cds for gifts and I am sure they all will be thrilled at the beautiful arrangements. Thank you Richard...as you know Karen will always be in our hearts. My heart still hurts that she could not have given us more from her beautiful gift. Her voice lives on and will forever.

SUFI - Thanks again

from Leon Russell, despite ruining the song.

Jesty83 - A must have record

I am so excited to finally see a masterpiece with Karenā€™s great voice and orchestra in digital sound platform .

PrimeTimeDJ - A Missed Opportunity

Even as a non-composer I've often imagined how classic Carpenters tunes might sound with more contemporary and complex orchestral arrangements. Maybe Mr. Carpenter though his originals couldn't be improved upon or he just couldn't stretch his imagination too far from the familar, but there's not a lot new going on here. Curiously, the old studio tracks sound crisp while the overdubbed Philharmonic elements are rather dull and seem far in the background. The new drum tracks, in particular, are lost in the mud. The main difference between these and the studio tracks is the studio strings have been swapped for the Philharmonic with little alternation. For hardcore Carpenters fans or even people who admire Karen's unique talent, there are moments worth a listen but I doubt the casual Carpenters listener would discern any difference from the original recordings. In hindsight it would have been more interesting to give a contemporary power ballad arranger Karen's lead vocals to create something that sounds familiar yet contemporary and dramatic. Sadly, that didn't happen here.
