If you hoped they would expand on Joy As An Act Of Resistance songs like Colossus and NFAMWAP, they did. Not only did they become more compositionally and dynamically diverse, they have also brought in a lower end, a heavier rock sensibility to the formula. The guitar tones on this would make Kurt Cobain proud. The songs work far better for me as a whole, rather than individual singles. As hooky as it is, there’s a lot of brilliantly crafted sonic chaos. Some of the most chaotic whirlwind type moments are pushed even further over the top by the incomparable David Yow of Jesus Lizard. Ultra Mono is an amazing exercise in minimalism, invention, and creativity. Like the message or not, these guys rock balls. Kinda sounds like the Clash covering Hot Snakes and The Dead Kennedys.🤷‍♂️If you like loud noisy rock, and are on board with DK’s politics, this one is just for you. Enjoy!!!!

This is lame

This is a pretty solid album. It’s not like the best thing I’ve heard all year but it’s still one of the better projects I’ve heard this year.

An absolutely fantastic album from one of the best bands going right now. First time I played the album is just let it run. It's rare that you can do that in 2020. I feel like they're just getting better and better over time...
