The Foos are always changing things up. Theyâll go heavy, technical, and now pop. Iâm into all of it.
Donât be swayed by the negative reviews, this album is great. A little different from a regular Foo record but the songwriting is there. I actually think the singles are the weakest songs. Cloudspotter, Medicine at Midnight, and Holding the Poison are classic Foo Fighters songs. Most of the negative reviews are from November of last year. I donât know how you can review (and not like) an album that you havenât heard.
I love this Album! Awesome job Dave!
The guitar sounds so good in the Medicine at Midnight solo. Taylor is holding back a lot in this album but otherwise, sick hooks and grooves all the way around. Grohl once again shows another aspect of his creative side. Keep surprising us!!
Best album since Wasting Light. Thank god they're still at it and still evolving and experimenting with new sounds after 25 years.
Good thing I never really liked this band.
Holding Poison and Chasing Birds are so reminiscent of early Foo Fighters and I am all for that.
I have tried three times to get through the album and it's like chewing sand...you can do it, but it's not very pleasant. Waiting on a war has so many repeating lines that it makes me skip the song entirely. I agree with some reviewers say that it doesn't have much soul. I love Dave, but this just falls flat and is disappointing overall.
ABSOLUTELY A GREAT FOO FIGHTERS ALBUM! CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM LIVE!!!
A lot of these reviews Id say are when shame shame was released. I like the change of sound. A lot of people cannot accept a band changing their sound. Also... Love dies young. A great song that I think should be a single off the album. Itâs super underrated.
This album is amazing. Every song is creative and emotive. Buy it.
I actually really like this new album so far, my favorite song in it is definitely waiting on a war.
Most musicians get stuck in the same sound. Never grow or create with the changing times. The Foos are are not your typical musicians!
Putting anything together for a quick easy buck
When I first heard âshame shame â I was not a fan. But after giving the entire album a few listens all the way thru, I am into it!!
Sounds like bedroom demos that the rest of the band didnât want to be bothered with.
So this is very controversial i'm sure! But Medicine at Midnight is probably the most cohesive album in their catalog! Its definitely a departure, but it shows their true potential as a band, and their versatility as musicians! Also, the title track is FIRE!!
Thoughtfully written rock songs with great groove, licks and melody. Solid change of pace!
At first I wasnât sure what to think about this album because I sure did not like Shame Shame but itâs a good Pop album. There are some great songs on here but I donât know if it is the running order of songs or what but it just doesnât flow like a Foo Fighters album usually does. Not my usual cup of tea but I do like Making A Fire; Daveâs daughter does a great job on the backing vocal. Cloudspotter is a great song that reminds me of The Power Station or early Duran Duran. The standout track is Love Dies Young, great hook that will be some stuck in your head all day; I expect this song to be huge if released as a single. Overall, itâs a good album but Iâd like another Wasting Light and lose the keyboard player as a full fledged member. I understand some songs need keys but that dude just looks outta place on the rockers. đ„¶
Thatâs ok. Itâs ok. Some good tracks. Some bad. Itâs a an ok Foo album.
This is excellent new stuff. Why do people want to stay in the past. Every musical group transitions to test themselves. This is an excellent new album. Quit whining.
Like their hard rock this reminds me of other soft rock artists
I love the groovy feel of this album. This album makes me want to dance while rocking out. The same kind of feeling I get with early Van Halen. I really like hearing the band experiment and try new things.
Itâs my personal opinion that I still hear classic Foo in this album. âIn Your Honorâ was the pinnacle for me & Iâd be shocked if anything could surpass that album in my mind. But, not bad.... I donât think it sounds as poppy as others are making it out to be.
The Foos have played the same style songs for years. Itâs refreshing to hear some new sounding songs and theyâre great. Donât believe the nay sayers. This album might be their best. If you want to listen to the same old stuff, then listen to their first few boring albums.
Opinions of oppression by way of mandate makes you a looser
Iâve always been sort of on the sidelines with Foo Fighters. This is the first album that I actually liked enough to purchase. The songs have a much more creative and adventurous musicality than previous offerings. The cleanly polished sounds may lack some of the raw passion of earlier recordings. But they still shine. I hear the influences of some really great bands in this record. They range from pop artists like David Bowie, the Beatles and Beck, to Prog rock like Rush, and 80s alternative sounds like Tears For Fears and Talking Heads to name a few. I guess Dave grew up listening to the same music as me after all.
Nope
Different but fun! They are getting flac for a new sound but I actually really enjoyed this album!
Trying to make music in the style of todayâs clueless ârock starsâ Sad attempt to be hip. Donât think this will age well.
to do whatever he wants. He has been making music for decades and it's not anyone's place to tell him this is no good. It's what satifies him, maybe musically, maybe financial, which I doubt, he doesn't strick me as someone in it for the money, so I'll say, Dave I'm glad you're around. You are a bridge from 90's grunge to today's music, and I appreciate all the years of your contributions! So do whatever you want to do, haters will hate, even when the hater's have no credentials to criticize. Nice to have new music to consider, thanks
I love the new album! Itâs definitely not your regular Foo Fighters but Iâll take a dance party with Dave Grohl! Even with the new sound, thereâs still some classic Foo in the songs like âWaiting on a Warâ and âNo Son of Mineâ. I really canât talk bad about any song on this album, itâs exciting getting to hear this new type of music from the band.
Heâs waiting on a war? Weâve been at war for 20 plus years. Non stop. Done with this band. Seriously guys, whatâs wrong with you.
I have lived for the Foo for the better part of my life. To say this album is a disappointment is an understatement. I wish they would have spent more time focusing on the music and less time focusing on pushing their political agenda. They have turned out a disappointing album and lost some of their fan base because they chose Hollywood over the people who have been by their sides from the beginning. Sad.
The Foos really try to break away from the safe-bet style with this album. Songs like Waiting on a War and Love Dies Young are instant classics, but others like Medicine at Midnight really creep up and I find myself randomly getting them stuck in my head. Not my favorite album, but it's sneaky good.
A flight of fancy as if the Beatles had a near death experience in the 70s and wrote a song about it. I like it.
This is one of those records to be appreciated in itâs entirety. A breath of fresh air from this band in early 2021 that could not have come at a better time.
Iâm gonna be honest, I had no idea they had released 3 singles until I was browsing my phone while trying to do schoolwork, and saw a foo fighters album from 2021. I was like âCool! When did they release this?â Turns out it was that exact day, Feb. 5th. I was like - âwhoaâ and I listened to the whole album immediately. At first I was skeptical, and thought it was a âmehâ album. Then I listened to it a few more times, and now I absolutely love it! It is an amazing album, but you will have to stick it out a few times before you can really enjoy it. I canât stop playing it now, and have already learned all the songs on drums. đ€ rock on, foo fighters!!!
Weâve tried and tired to listen to the new album, canât do it.
Killing it as always! Will be in the Rock Hall of Fame in no time. Sick. No Son of Mine and Cloudspotter are my jams!!
If you go into this expecting the Foo Fighters of the 90s and 00s, youâre not going to be happy, but if you keep an open mind, youâll find this to be a very enjoyable record.
The previous I bought just because I trusted it would be amazing. I was disappointed. This one, I bought on blind faith, hoping for a pleasant surprise. Once again, I am heartbroken. I blame myself. I obviously have not grown the way they have. I am now that guy that listens to 10 year old music. Yep. I just be here in my front porch, yelling at passers by...
Bowed down to his liberal masters to protect 500 million. I am sad
I get the whole flexing their pop skills. But this is just mediocre. Extremely forgetful. This is what happens when lifelong groups try and get out of their sound. Like Tools last album. Sad to say but maybe the heyday is over.
Idk about the haters in the comments but I feel sorry for them because this album is awesome! 5 stars hands down.
There are some great songs on M at M, but the songs are so disparate that itâs tough to get into a solid groove. Cloudspotter is by far the best rock song on the album, and for me, a great Foo song that will endure with their collection of greatest songs. Overall I give it 4 stars for general quality, but album-wise, canât hold a candle to Wasting Light, their last great album from top to bottom. I love these guys and will always be a big fan, but for now, realize that the greatness comes from a song here and a song there, over the past 3 albums.
All the whining seems to be from people that only like a narrow view of music. Iâm sorry, but embrace diversity in music, grow a little ! The same loud rock stuff over & over? Well thereâs no need to buy but one album then! I personally just love that DG has the rocks to show he can do a variety of cool things and this album is just gorgeous⊠it is NOT some electro-pop fiasco like done are trying to say, itâs nothing like that at all. This has nothing in common with a sell out! This is still rock music. Kudos, more please!!!
Been a fan my whole life⊠the last 2-3 albums have just felt like a complete departure from the band that amazed and inspired me for 15 years prior. âWasting lightâ was the last album that truly felt like a foo fighters record. I expect the band to progress, as doing the same thing over and over gets old. Where is the band that wrote âThe Oneâ on the Orange County soundtrack? This album here was hyped as a party rock album⊠what?! Besides the opening track, the record is âmehâ at best with several tracks just feeling like stock.
It should not be allowed on iTunes to review an album prior to its official release date. To judge an album by its first single, months before the actual album comes out, is unfair and very narrow-minded. THIS is is a GREAT album, and I am not writing this to balance out the bad reviews written weeks before the release but because it is. I don't think they have moved away an inch from what they have been for the last decades, a great rock band with unforgettable songs. No Son Of Mine, Making A Fire, Cloudspotter, Waiting On A War, Holding Poison are definitely in the vein of their most successful albums. And, since this never gets mentioned, I like the artwork a lot. This albums deserves reviews that are about the full album and after at least a couple of rounds of full listening.
Itâs the Foos, and it is good!
