Pair it with John Mellencamp's Scarecrow (or Uh-Huh!) and you'll have your start kit of Reagan-era Americana rock. Every track of this album was a radio staple then, some still are to this day, and probably will be long after you read this review.
Read the lyrics!!! This song takes a crap on America! Bruce hates this country!
I did not know this album was released on my birthday!!! I was fortunate to see The Boss twice during the 84 Tour. Once at Reunion Arena in Dallas and once at the Cotton Bowl. At reunion I had 2nd row seats in front Clarence. What a show! Wish I could remember most of it, but I remember Santa Claus is Coming To Town was the last song, as it was after Thanksgiving.
Awesome!
I LOVE the song 'Im On Fire'. I just listened to it, after not hearing it for many years and totally went back in time to 1984 or 85, when I was about 7 years old and had first heard it on my transistor radio. Just now when played it, I started sobbing & bobbing my head to the beat at the same time. Very bittersweet, hearing that song. Took me back to my childhood. The Boss is AWESOME!
Brought me here ! I always heard the name Bruce Springsteen but never cared to listen to his music but since I've watched the place beyond the pines , great movie btw, dancing in the dark has been in my head lol great song , good album. Classic .
to those who think this is classic Springsteen, think again. After Darkness on the Edge of Town it was all downhill. But when the Boss was in his prime (74-79) there was no one better. His live performances were electrifying. Not to steal a line from Depeche Mode but this is definitely music for the masses
Like all of his releases, just another overrated effort from Springsteen.
This isn't an album, it's an experience. You start at the beginning, you listen all the way though, and then you realize your worldview has changed a bit for the better. Best of all, it's only the tip of the Boss Iceberg--there are so many other great albums to enjoy. But if you need an entry point into this prolific artist's catalogue, Born in the USA is a great place to start.
5/5. Ive heard and im not sure if its right but Born in the U.S.A. was the first CD made in the U.S.A...??
Listen closely to the lyrics.....talks about being forced into the army to kill strangers....nothing about freedom in this song
Althougha few songs gott a little overplayed glory day the album is overall ammasterpice of bruce springsteen bringing some positive and negative experinces toa then over 30 male. I spenta lot of time wondering why anyone and many di thought Born in the USA was a dancing happy song It remains the then and sadly now a relevant tribute to guys coming home from war to find a country they fought for in economic downturn. "In on Fire summarizes males dealing with pain and if Downbound Train met the classic springsteen apporach to men dealing with heatbreak and loss This was why he was the "Boss" anyone who has not heard springsteen has missed what rock and roll was really about
not his best, but his best selling. some excellent music here

Almost every song is great I had this back in day. Needed a digital copy
❤️
For many of us coming out of the 70’s, we missed the protest years and we were in search of a cause, Springsteen provided the music that rallied us behind the average Joe. He made home towns and sweethearts cool. He made us want to get up in the morning, go to work ready to get our hands dirty and be proud that we were a part of the working class. This was his best work until the Rising.
First off I have to admit that I'm not crazy about that 80s' sound (especially Max's drum sound), and that for a while it made it difficult for me to listen to the album. But, in time I learned to let go and even enjoy it. This is definitely among Bruce's best albums to date and one that I feel represent a lot of people in this great country - Truly an american classic!
The definitive album of the 80's!
This entire album IS the heart of America. 🇺🇸
An American institution. Period.
The remasterimg of this CD is so impressive. It is if he is actually in the rrom with you. The sound quality is exemplary. The songs can all stand by themselves as works of art. Any song could have been released as a single and become a big hit. This is the BOSS at his finest, crafting great lyrics coupled with outstanding music. If you want to own one of the most definitive CDs of the pop era, this is the one. Great job iTunes on the mastering. Great job The BOSS on the album. This is truly one for the ages.
Nothing gets more American than this.... a must have for any music lover. Don’t worry about your age.
Just awful.
❤️
The Best Ever!!! I remember every song and NO ONE WILL EVER TAKES HIS PLACE. I was only three when this album came out, but grow up with it in every radio in my house. I still get tears in my eyes when ever I hear Bruce. I can see my mom dancing like Courtney Cox, we didn't watch to much tv growing up. Couldn't really afford it, we listened to music, and danced. They are the best memories, and I will never forget them. Nobody knew music like The Boss!!!
The guy below me grow up. Great music Bruce.
Hey awesome song,But it sounds like it was in Back To The Future?
Great album #MERICA
Phenomenal entertainer
Born in The U.S.A was One Of The Biggest Album For Bruce Springsteen in 1980’s .My Favorite Song’s from that Album are Born In The U.S.A/Cover me/Dancing in the Dark-because in the music video there is a young Courteney Cox Dancing with Bruce Springsteen/Glory Day’s
One of the best song writers ever. The Boss is at his best here.
You can barely hear his voice! Sounds muted. The band sounds great.
7 of the 12 songs on the album were huge hits and bring back great memories from my high school years. A couple of them are even on my running playlist.
It was taco Tuesday at the NCO Club at Rhein Main AB Germany. Bruce Springsteins song "I'm on fire" was playing in the background. The taco were good and hot that day. On the big screen TV we were watching the Challenger Space Shuttle launch...."go with throttle up Challenger came across the TV..." Oh oh oh I'm on fire " came across the Video TV ...it was surreal... We all know what happened next...the manager unplugged the music after I pointed to the TV with Challenger exploding...I think the Astronauts would have wanted Bruce's song to keep playing
Nothing needs to be said about the album itself. I just added it to my 15 other Boss albums because of his principled stance against bigotry in North Carolina.
USA music
An amazing song about the promises and betrayals of America (focus on the latter, despite popular misinterpretation). Following a down on his luck Vietnam vet, scarred physically and -- especially --psychologically, the protagonist returns to his country to find economic stagnation, few helping hands and "nowhere to run to ... Nowhere to hide".
Nothing else needs to be said.
I absolutely die for the boss. Bobby Jean makes me cry every time I hear it… so much power in that man <3
I can’t get any music
My personal favorite. Kind of more pop rock than folk rock. But still Bruce. High energy songs with great lyrics. This is Bruce that you can dance to. Great album all together. Favs are Born in the USA, Cover Me, Down bound train, dancing in the dark
A MAGA song? Not when Bruce shuts down his music being played at the Orange Fascist’s rallies! Great with no undertones of white supremacy or my country right or wrong.
Will never listen to him again!
A true classic in American music. Very mature yet still having a youthful sound. Dancing in the Dark is one of the greatest songs ever made and definitely his masterpiece.
Probably Bruce's 4th or 5th best album. Without the wild, BTR, and Darkness, this album doesn't sell like it did. Darlington County, Bobby Jean, and I'm going down are probably my 3 favorite tracks. Glory days is really good too, obviously the title track and Dancing in the dark are real popular. Good album.
This album produced so many hits, but even the songs that weren't released are excellent. I wish someone was making this kind of music today.
deleted all his music as i am sick of his political views
Hell yeah! That guy can sing.
