I have been waiting forever for this album to come to America! The Girls!
Either buy this album and love all of the songs or don't and regret the decision for the rest of your life. :-)
All the songs are weak ... it's leaning towards the electro/trance side, nonethless it still fails
Calvin Harris choose 2007 to bring back both the funk and the retro back to an appropriate time. This album is great. Harris' breakthrough album should should be mentioned on credible crititcs "best of" list for 2007. His tracks each have their own personality...I am excited to see what Calvin Harris has in store for the future. --Although...I heard the song Vegas(live) on a calvin harris myspace fake page. The live performace doesn't live up to his album work. COuld be a problem Calvin?? Whats up?!?
Calvin Harris is a genius. My favorite song of all time is on here. So buy "The GIRLS" its hilarious and you can dance to it. Vegas is also awesome. ;D
HOLY CRAP! i heard this guy on raving rabbids on the wii. then i dl his albulm, and it just blew my mind! this is an amazing albulm, acceptable in the 80s and the girls are greats songs
This couples well with French Techno.
love i created disco his other remixes are good too (especially dancing to) i love love love neon rocks !!!! some songs fall but most of them are really good. i advise you right now to buy a song or the whole damn album.
Sonny, you can't even spell disco
Being a child of the 90's (although I was not old enough to be influnced by the great culture of the time period.) Calvin Harris's album I Created Disco has transported me to a time of modern day disco. At first I was surprised expecting this to be a tribute to the late great era of the disco, but what Harris has done is taken disco and introduced it to the 2000's. I think he should have titled the album I Am The Future of Disco... Hmmm 3rd album title perhaps? Calvin get at me lol
I must say finally a album that can be played for any occasion, wether it be birthday, or just a rockin party!! I highly recommend this album to anyone, including the song COLOURS!!!! This album rocks my world again and again.
Equal parts LCD Soundsystem and Beck, especially his 8-Bit Variations EP of Guero Gameboy Remixes. Hipster club music with a face. But, like, actually fun.
i'm still bobbin' my head like the hamsters
I kinda had some doubts that this album was going to be anything special.. I had heard "The Girls" and "Acceptable in the 80s", but nada else from the album upon buying it yesterday i realized how fantastic it was. i'm a sucker for synth and Calvin Harris lays it on thick. If you like New Young Pony Club, The Teenagers.. things of that sort you'll love this album :] totally worth the buy
Listen to "I Created Disco" then "In My Arms" see the similarities! But anyways this album is amazing and if you dont want the whole thing, get at least "The Girls" and "Acceptable in the 80's"
calvin harris is AWSOME ! i totaly recommend "The Girls" and "Acceptable in the 80's"
honesly this is not disco and it did not go away
Actually these are great songs, it takes a while to get into them so wait and it will come. The lyrecs aren't that clever, not many at all really! But the beats are great, love it!
I must emphasize the greatness of this album. I had to tell a friend at 2 in the morning about this amazing sound I had just baught. Please buy this album!!!
Calvin Harris is the new kid on the block and he is blowing it up in a big way. This cd has so many catch tracks and tunes. "I got love for you if you were born in the 80's" - Nuff said! This guy is the man!
Great album and all, but the only reason I am posting this is because iTunes NEEDS to get I'm Not Alone by Calvin Harris!!!
Disco never died it just evolved to trance... get real... if it didnt I dont think there would be dance clubs... Just us Disco'ers are now your parents....lol
Calvin Harris gives us the stuff we want. Tounge in cheek of LCD, with the groove of Chromeo. Cheers Harris!
I listened to his CD and was absolutely 100% in love with it. My favourite song is Acceptable in the 80's because it reminds me of Seattle. If I was to rate this CD from 1 to 100 I'd give it 98 1/2 because I a,m not the hugest fan of some songs but this is totally worth 10 bucks for a great night of electro dance music. Enjoy and have a great time listening to I Created Disco!
"the girls" is in rotation when i DJ every weekend in Ft. Lauderdale. nobody knows what it is but they all undeniably love it. i'm going to keep spinning it until the U.S. gets on "disco" wagon. Cheers, KR!Sholiday
I saw him at Coachella this year. Unreal. This album is for people who know how to party! I had it with me in VEGAS and couldn't get enough of it! Awesome production, Calvin, you are bringing 80's synth back to LIFE!!
It amazes me how low the bar has been set. More overrated crap for subscribers of Juxtapoz.
Buy the album, or just Acceptable in the 80s. Why is Vault Character 7 seconds long?
Amazing album. Will make you bump, and slide. I buy the whole album. His producing style reminds me of Damon Alburn of the Gorillaz. Great mix
Calvin Harris has such a unique sound that is so different than the mainstream artists of today. Although some won't paticulary like this album, I highly reccomend listening to at least some of his songs if you like electronic-disco type music.
Yes, he is a pro-du-cer. he produced all these songs. and he sings, too. but the genius is in the producing, not really the vocals. in case you were planning on complaining about the tracks were he doesn't even sing in them. Moving on...calvin is a genius. my top five (i tried to name the best songs but ended up naming almost the whole album): -the girls -acceptable in the 80's -vegas -i created disco (my favorite) -disco heat (the "OWW!" makes me laugh)
I haven't been this excited over synth-pop since I first saw "The Safety Dance" and "She Blinded Me With Science!" on MTV waaaaay back when they showed videos. This is a great album, easily worth $9.99.
A quirky mix of music styles that I quickly grew to love. Upbeat, good base, good to drive to!
Simple mathamatical equation. His lyrics are funny and clever and his music is great for raving. CALVIN YOU ROCK!!!!
Calvin Harris is a lot bigger in Britain than he is here, which I think is a shame because he is a very talented artist. This CD is very fun, even if some songs can be a little strange.
refreshing makeover of fun 80's electro - this album is dancey and loveable.
If you like this album you have very good taste!
I can't believe I only got this album just now and it has been out since last year. Imagine, an entire year of my life without Calvin Harris. You need to get this CD, it's absolutely amazing.
Great album..... Calvin rulez!
in a Nick Baga hip hop class(part of the group the futhamuckas- buy it when it comes out!) we did a warm up to the girls and me and all my friends were having so much fun we looked so silly because we were singing while dancing!ha love it!
I have never heard anything like this that sounds so good, I really recomend disco heat
I heard the song "Colours" on an episode of HollyOaks and thought the beat was Sick. I found out it who it was by, sampled the album, liked what else I heard and immediately purchased the album. Looking forward to Calvin Harris' future works.
Compared to artist like fatboy slim the chemical brothers , calvin harris is the best
By this iTunes review, it would make anyone sell their firstborn child for this album. Did Calvin Harris write this himself. There are a few scattered "bob your head" tracks but this is not a complete album by any means. Take a lesson from the Presets, Cut Copy, or Kavinsky on how you can "complete me".
In his song "Merrymaking At My Place" he says "Merrymaking, DRUG TAKIN'" so if you have a mac you can edit it on garageband
OMG the girls is the best song ever i love 80s they r comin back! -Bryce ur biggest fan
A friend of mine introduced me to Calvin Harris late in 2007. We were sewing up costumes for a convention when "Acceptable in the 80s" came on the iTunes shuffle. I was electrified. Downright stunned that musicians like Calvin Harris even existed. He fed me Synthy, poppin', anywhere between 100-120 BPM jams, music that is still deeply reminiscent of my group of friends' "outlandish attitude". Harris narrated all of my Jr College - Cal State experience. With hits like "Electro Man", "Love Souvenir" and "Traffic Cops", the most popular songs were simply an introduction to Harris' pure genius. To this day, I come back to listen to his ideals. Such powerful musical expressions that reintroduce me to nostalgia will always have a place in my heart. Past, present and future. An album well worth having digitally, and on hard copy.
dude this guy spelled color incorrectly i guess he's english.
Love calvin he is brilliant, but i like many others cant get his new stuff on the us store. they need to fix that
This album is the best. "The Girls", "Disco Heat", "Love Souvenir", they're all magical. Every single song is like riding down a hilltop of marmelade in a wizard's sleigh, like a robotronic rainbow flowing straight into your ears from the dance floor. Listening to this album is like being hit in the face with a neon hammer, or dancing on the moon with 1972 Michael Jackson, or falling of the edge of the Oppression mountain into the sea of wonders. It's like receiving purple aviators and a golden track suit in the mail with out even asking, or being granted a wish from the sexy Music Genie, or having a laser party in your mind tank, and slipping on a silky robe and gaining the ability to fly, and seeing everything in rainbows and candy, and riding a skateboard through a hoop of magical possibilities, and shooting through the air at a million miles per second. All in all, you should buy it.
