65 Strat - JB

I've seen LOTS of shows from the 60's on and no-one except for Jeff Beck had improved with time. Clapton is a matinee idol, Page is MIA but Beck is MORE amazing than he was when i saw him with the Jeff Beck Group (w/ Rod on vocals) back at the Filmore East. He has matured as a player and as an artist. How often does THAT happen in rock and roll? We are so lucky to be able to see him at the height of his powers. Go see him if you get the chance. I did last week here in LA and he was magnificent. At times ferocious, other times gentle, he has it all.

bk2garden - Jeff Beck

Not what I expected from Jeff Beck, Bought before I saw him last week. He is much better live. Hope it does not put you to sleep if you buy.

Ran1 - He's done it again

Finally a group of people reviewing Beck that actually seem like they are talking about. Beck has always been and has always shown his superior skills. Also saw Beck and Clapton "AT THE MADISON SQUARE". Unfortunately had a group of idiots there to see Clapton and were googling and speaking incorrectly about Beck. Why go? I told them to shut up and I was once again blown away Saw The Jeff Beck Group with Rod at the Fillmore. They had some kind of something and the show ended early. Still the best!!! As a guitarist always the greatest. Thankfully we have some young blood such as Jonny Lang and Joe Bonamassa who are much younger and really fantastic to carry the tradition.

Ilove J. page - Jeff Beck is the man!

Jeff beck is the man. So distinctive in his abilities and overall just an incredible musician.I saw him with clapton at MSG recently and by far, Beck had my rating over Clapton. He is brilliant and this album can only give me more of his awsome sounds...

MarkInEugene - A rare and beautiful communion between artist, instrument and listener.

Word's completely fail me with Beck's latest creation. By far, the majority of popular music ever produced with the illustrious Fender Stratocaster has been aggressive, driving, rock. This sweetest of instruments very close in my mind to a Stradivarius, is capable of astounding feel, subtlety, and depth. It is very rare that a rock guitarist transcends all the hype and glamour of his role and connects so sweetly with an instrument like Jeff has in E&C. All the speed and technical prowess in the world doesn't hold a candle to a musician who becomes one with their instrument and produces a rare moment of emotional bliss in the listener. I was completely overwhelmed and moved to tears by the many such moments Jeff has given us in this album. A must have recording from a treasured musician

SEAMUSS - He is amazing

I just went to a Jeff Beck concert. This dude can do stuff with his tremelo bar and fingers that no one can do with 20 pedals. HE IS AMAZING.

cosmicLovechild - Album of the Year

Thank you Jeff Beck for this beautiful music. It's a 'Blow by Blow' for the 21st century. The sounds that flow from his guitar are emotional and gorgeous. It's the ultimate fusion that combines rock, blues, and jazz along with classical references. Simply a masterpiece.

guitarnut48 - The Best

Amazing music but what else would you expect from Jeff Beck Joss Stone is also over the top on this album Got to see these two perform live together back when Joss Stone was 21 and getting started They were amazing

Greve-Davis - Get the first 8 songs

Skip the singers(except I'll put a spell on you.) it's a good album with three bonus songs attached

Murphy761 - Especially for Guitarists

A "must-have” for serious guitar players. Worth it even for just “Elegy for Dunkirk”, “Nessun Dorma”, and "Over The Rainbow”; Gorgeous.

In love in Bethesda - How is this possible?

How to begin? How can I (a mere mortal) even try to describe this CD? The selection of music on this CD is a little disconcerting-but don't let that throw you..he goes from Elegy for Dunkirk- to Joss Stone and his music cranking- to using his voice and an opera singer blending together..very interesting..makes you want to buy a new stereo..This guy is 68 years old, too. Hammerhead is brilliant-shoot, the whole thing is brilliant. Heard him talk on NPR-sounds very unaffected by everything..only cares about describing his music, his work. Good lord. I want to share this CD with friends, yet I don't- I want it for myself.

barefootdrummer - Aha!

Now, this is a brilliant recording. Love it. Mellow, but filled with emotional guitar work.

Big C 0001 - amazing

The combination of Jeff Beck and his guests is absolutely mind blowing. Its soothing and emotional, yet exiting and thought provoking. My personal favorites are Serene and I put a spell on you. A definate buy for ANYONE!

Buck Turgidson - Slide with Swagger - Beck makes it weep and moan

I Put a Spell on You caught my attention on the radio the other day and I was thrilled to learn Beck's new one was available. But, being the blues and slide guitar aficionado that I am, I didn't have to venture far beyond Poor Boy, with singer Imelda May, to find this disc worth the price of admission. Frankly, it's just one of the coolest sounding slide performances I've heard in years. Beck makes it cry and sing with a swagger that's abolutely impossible to resist and it's perfectly accompanied by May. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to avoid cranking it up. I just don't get to hear him do enough slide. What a treat! Need I mention the rest of the disc is eclectic, adventurous and that I'm thrilled Beck continues to blaze new trails and raise the bar for the rest of the guitar slingers out there? His guitar work on this reminds me of his previous recordings with Roger Waters and the Muddy Waters tribute he recorded with Paul Rogers.

Jimmy J85 - A Genius!

George Harrison, made his guitar weep, Jeff Beck, can make his guitar sing the Blues! Ol' Geoffrey you just keep getting better, you hold the record, six Grammy Awards for Best Rock Instrumental Performance and at this rate you will reach seven or more when it's all said and done...Congrats!

Buckdancer1 - Absolutely Excellent!!!

To hear Joss Stone sing this song is ... hypnotic, while JB's playing covers you with gooooosebumps. It is totally awesome for a buck 29. Enjoy!

mike77 - Musical Genius

Jeff Beck is arguably the most articulate guitarist alive. He gives the guitar a voice of it's own. Beck is real music. I would die to see him live. I would probably be itching to play my guitar as soon as I got home. I like Joss Stone and Jeff Beck together, too! They give off that "Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin 'Summertime'" vibe. This is for true music fans with an appreciation for finer things. Like an aged scotch.

e_sola - Magic

Jeff Beck has always had a magic symbiotic relationship with the guitar. I heard it first in Greensleeves on the Truth album so long ago and this new offering takes me back to that wonderful first amazement. This is an incredible effort, so much so it has prompted my first review! If you love great guitar and you love magic, get this album!

tjcurley - Forget the reviews...

If you love the old Beck you will love the new. Get this album and listen to some truly great Beck. - Tom

Beercousin - wonderfull

Listened a few times. Love it! at first I was curious about the strings, but boy! Do they make a difference. The iTunes LP is to die for. It is the most informative I've ever seen for an Artist/Group.

Takao Naito - Nice performance

I love Jeff' guitar solo. He can play anything from classic to rock.

sk55555 - Beck is the best!

Just returned from Memphis Beale Street Blues Festival. I saw Jeff Beck friday night before the storm of the century rained down on Tennessee. I saw him when I was in High School in 1977, this show was incredible. JB is truly an artist! He paints wonderful imagery with that Stratocaster and tones that no one else can come close to. I was amazed that he plays finger-style no guitar pick for this guy. My mind was totally blown by the show and his calm quiet demeanor on stage. The only disappointment was that he didn't play the songs I was yearning to hear from the BLOW-BY-BLOW album. My long time favorite. But, his rendition of "I put a spell on you" & "Day in the life" totally amazing. I only wish I could be a groupie-guy and follow his entire tour. It would not get old only better and better.

johnisjane - Emphasize the Emotion

I've always loved Jeff Beck. In the past, my memories of his music have surrounded his ability to get my heart pumping, my feet tapping, or my head bobbing. With this music, he does all that, and is able, along with help from his muses (Imelda May, prominently), to get my heart involved. Some of this music is so achingly beautiful that it's hard to describe. It can literally bring tears to your eyes. I liked this record so much, and have NPR to thank for that. They had an exlusive First Listen online for a week. I listened to this every day for a week before I bought it. I continued to listen every day, and am more a fan than I was as a much younger man. Thanks, Jeff, and all on the record. It's beautiful.

DoctorJoeE - Different and Majestic

I'm happy to see so many favorable reviews by people who appreciate Beck. He may not have quite the cachet enjoyed by Clapton and Page, but he is just as revolutionary and influential a guitarist, and this is an absolutely majestic album. One caution: if you're expecting Beck's trademark jazz-rock "snarl" here, you're going to be surprised -- but pleasantly so, I'd guess -- this is much classier, much richer -- really like nothing you've heard from Beck before -- but the second you begin to listen, you absolutely know who is playing. How surprising? How about an adaptation for guitar and symphony orchestra of an aria from Puccini's opera Turandot? Yep, that surprising -- but as I said, pleasantly surprising. If you're a Beck fan, go for it -- you won't be disappointed.

Taaffe, W - Emotion & Commotion

As an avid Jeff Beck fan I was not disappointed he is always pushing himself toward new horizons - beautiful sounds - amazing guitar - anyone that the greatest creators of sound and tecnique of Jeff Beck and or David Gilmour will find this to be a winner all the way.

Weirdo5 - Amazing Guitar Work

Jeff Beck is one of the best guitarists I have ever heard of. The total control on the vibrato arm and the perfect tone he gets out of his guitar is amazing. Only a true master can make such a slow solo with long sustain on notes sound so good. Guys like Yngwie Malmsteen are insane on the guitar, but only someone like Beck can combine an electric guitar with a symphony orchestra. Do yourself a favor and buy this album!

letterbe - Emotion Commotion

This album is an experience, the louder it is, the better. Jeff Beck is somewhere beyond a master. This will knock your socks off, well worth every penny. I got my copy at Barnes & Noble for $7.99!

figgy g - Jeff Beck: Emotion & Commotion

I've been an avid fan of Beck's since the release of his first solo album, following his stint with the Yardbirds. This latest piece of work is very moving for me. It is in a way a representation of all things amazing that Beck is capable of. He is a true virtuoso of the guitar, and easily moves through several genres of music. Taking a song that is considered "traditional" or a "standard" and voicing it a la Beck's truly unique style is one of the things that he does best. Although you may not hear it said, nearly every noteworthy guitarist playing rock/fusion music will always mention Beck as one of their major influences. There are soooo many who have tried to emulate the many nuances that Beck brings to the music, however, I believe they all fall short of the objective. Buy this CD. You will not regret it.

The Infinite Soundtrack To My Life - 2nd best album of the year.

The only reason this isn't in first place for me is because Anathema's new album We're Here Because We're Here destroys all. If the album didnt exist this would be in first place. This album is everything you know and love about Jeff Beck, and its even more beautiful. After the first track I had watery eyes. The whole album is a masterpiece that will take you on a journey through many different styles of music just like his older works but its more polished. No I don't mean production wise, I mean each song had a ton of soul put into it! This is one of those albums where each time you dive in, you find something new. Prepare yourself for one of the best albums of 2010!

jeffb25 - SONIC Paradise

BLOW ME AWAY!

PALNK - Speechless

Always been a Jeff Beck fan...always. Even when style, speed and technical prowess sometimes outshadowed feeling or texture...but this record is truly an ideal amalgamation of all that Jeff Beck brings to the table. If you love Jeff Beck, if you're a guitar player, then, this is a must-buy. Funny how the Brits got the blues down so big-time, huh (EC, Alvin Lee, Jeff Beck, et al)?

tcroghan - Listen Over & Over & Over

Whoever wrote the review titled "Nothing like it anywhere" has it exactly right and I can't improve on what was said there. Still, I felt compelled to offer my humble and appreciate thumbs up. Amazing. Mesmerizing is the perfect word. Ahhhhh.

dgn11002244 - Spectacular in every way

I initially got "Never Alone" by itself without the rest of the album. Now 6 moths later I purchased what I think is the best guitar albums ever? Who knew even "Over The Rainbow" could sound as good as he makes it sound. He does stuff with his guitar I didn't even think possible until now. He literally makes his guitar sing. What I like most is that each song is amazing, but it it's own unique way. No two songs are good for the same reason. For instance, probably the most unique song, Nessun Dorma, sounds almost like classical music, with guitar. But Hammerhead has a Blues-Rock feel to it. He just does such an amazing job of diversifying the album. Standout tracks (even though I like all of them), are "Hammerhead", "Lilac Wine", "There's No Other Me", and "Serene". Can't go wrong. Download now.

phishydizz - Masterpiece

I have been listening to this Beck album continously for about a year now. It may be because I have great memories attached to it while listening, but it is one of my top albums. It is his masterpiece, and I grew up listening to Blow by Blow. Blow's it away! One of the single greatest albums EVER produced, no lies folks.

main_sjk - OMG

I hate using urbane language like the above, but there simply is no other description for this album. I have been listening to JB since the Truth days, right through Blow by Blow and the Who Else period. Jeff, if you are reading, this tops everything that has come before. I don't know, it seems that every artist has that one album that represents the culmination of a career, while also breaking entirely new ground. I'm thinking of Revolver mainly, or perhaps Hounds of Love by Kate Bush. Well, this is Jeff's statement album. The various musical oeuvres on display here blend seamlessly. I play a Stratocaster actually, and well, but I cannot for the life of me work out how he's doing it. It's not just wizardry here, it's the raw emotion. If, by the end of Nessun Dorma, you do not have something resembling a tear in your eye, then you are a rock, a tree, a piece of fiberglass. Certainly not human. Thank you Jeff for this most sublime and beautiful of recordings. I will treasure it forever.

Musicfan123444 - Solid Beck

The guitar playing is excellant as always, cant say I cared much for the vocals on the songs but the playing was excellant,my faverites are Serene,Nessun Dorma,Never Alone. Beck just touches your soul like few others can,I really appreciate the way the Man has never sold out his soul for money,he always stays true to the music you wont hear his music on any miller beer commercials.

Sgt. Pepper LHCB - Perfection...

It just doesn't get any better than this.

Jedi008 - Eh...it

First, I am a huge Jeff Beck fan. Now, this album, well, I am not sure who produced it. Of course JB's guitar work is flawless, but "Over The Rainbow"? Seriously!!!??? Come on, this album will wind up being an elevator ambient music sound track loop. There are better JB albums out there, unfortunately this one will not be one of them.

PooTosser - Great, but...

...the guest singers. They're...I don't know how to say this...horrible.

Thigpenn - covers that excite

While the entire album lives up to the amazing and unique finesse we expect from Jeff Beck, my 3 favorites are the cover tunes, "I Put a Spell on You", "Over the Rainbow" and "Nessun Dorma". In particular "Nessun Dorma" provides goosebumps at every hearing. I suggest that even Luciano Pavarotti would have even applauded and shouted "Bravo" at such a performance. Thank you Mr. Beck.

padiddle - Love the album, especially Imelda May......

Quite simply, this album rocks. What I am most excited about though is maybe Imelda May will pick up more of a fan base in the States. She's from Dublin, Ireland and has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. I was lucky enough to see her and her band in DC and they were simply amazing. Thanks you Jeff for featuring Imelda (and Joss Stone, love her too). She is a true vocal talent.

BluesRockJazzMan - Simply great!!!

This is one of those albums that get's better every time you listen to it. Transcends being just a great guitar album. Great music. I've listened to Never Alone more than 30 time already I saw him at the HOB last year. Now I plan to see him again when he comes back to town. Keep reinventing and taking risks JB!!!

musclecar - This may be the best ever.

This may be the best album in the history of mankind. I'm 51 and can't stop listening.

"Grimmbo" - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow!"

.. "Never Alone!"..When I heard last year that Jeff Beck was going on tour again and was making a new record of all Covers; I was all on board for it!-Upon first experiencing "Emotion And Commotion"; I am more than mildly "Knocked Out!"-Yes; I agree; This album has a "Big Sound"; Thanks to the two top Producers; Trevor Horn & Steve Lipson!-{And kudos to whomever suggested the three female vocalists; May; Safe & Stone; All turning in top-shelf performances!}-Yes; Again; It is Jeff Beck & His wailing Stratocaster who are really making all the Commotion & Emotion here; For Sure!-{Bought the 45 of "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago"; Wild Stuff!}-"There's No Other Like Jeff Beck!"...by Grimmbo.

Jennifersman - Hate to burst your bubble, Sgt. Rock...

but Jimmy Page played guitar on "Hurdy Gurdy Man", not Beck. Beck DID play on Barbarajagal, though

j20056 - My mother likes it!!!

I remember in the 70's when my Mom used to ask me to turn down my stereo as I played Truth, Wired and BBA. Today, she heard this album (Granted it was on the Nessun Dorma song) and she asked me to burn her a CD of it. That's the magic of Jeff Beck right there. Very emotional, perfect tone, voilin, singing-type tone. I can emulte his tone on my guitr, but i can't get close to his touch... Beautiful!

Aerosteel - I love jeff beck, but...

this album is not jeff beck. Jeff beck cannot be following a singer. he is only working at his full potential while he leads his band with amazing riffs and chords. Nuf said

schwab26 - Track 2

hammerhead is awesome!!

Tony68 - Emotion and Commotion

This is not just another great CD. It is a full blown experience. Jeff Beck is unreal and continues to get better and better while his contemporaries, albiet legends in their own right, remain the same. Emotion and Commotion is the most ethereal piece of recording art ever produced. It is not merely beautiful music. It is beauty in itself.

O.A.S. - I'm Lovin' Jeff Beck

I've been a Jeff Beck fan for about a year now. I first purchased his live album at Ronnie Scotts and I loved it! I just recently purchased this album and, you guessed it, I love it!! Jeff is one of the few guitarists/musicians out there who has been in the business for over 40 years, yet he continues to release fresh and exciting MUSIC. He is inspiring to say the least!
