Green Henry - Romantic Dreams sold me on this

Romantic Dreams is my favorite Deftones tune. 3 songs in one. Love the chorus riff with the wobbly de-tuned guitar sound ... freakin' awesome.

Metal Heads - Deftones are Awesome

Went to see them live this past weekend and they were outrageous, best band out there now a days by far. This album is the best album released in a long time, great album buy it and the rest of the Deftones they are my new favorite band now.

Arkham guy - Absolutely breathtaking

Hauntingly beautiful! I listened to this the whole way through and it's safe to say that this is one of a kind. I never loved an album so much like this one. GO DEFTONES !!!!!!!

TheAnimalhouse96744 - My love for Deftones

I became a fan of Deftones once I heard the song "Change" in the Queen of the Damned movie. I was about 11 or 12 years old at the time. Now that i'm in college, this band gets me through my good and bad days. Personally, I love every album they have released. I feel that they do NOT have a weak album. This album is by far my favorite along with the other albums including Saturday Night Wrist and Deftones; YES, you heard me, and I have ni regrets sayng that I love this band and every album they have put out. Get this album along with the others, and give it time to grow on you and gain your attention. You wont regret it.

Black Jumpsuit - The "Best of Album" we don't have yet!

NOTE: I apologize if my grammar is atrocious... What I'm definitely noticing with a lot of these reviews is either extreme praise or hate. Personally, I think that Koi No Yokan is, artistically, their best record. It has this really distinct sound and vibe to it. I understand where people are coming from when they say, "sounds like Saturday Night Wrists..." Or "Saturday part two". It definitely has that artistic approach that I think they were going for for Saturday. But, unlike Saturday, they really nailed that approach with this album. The entire album flows together really nicely. But, at the same time, the majority of songs are really good stand alone songs. Admittedly, however, "What Happened To You", never really stuck with me. I think they should've ended with Goon Squad. But hey! Can't have everything we want now can we. Most people's problems with Koi No Yokan was that it wasn't hard hitting or heavy enough. (Unless you're a "die hard Deftones fan" and everything needs to be Adrenaline and Around the Fur. In which case I quote Abe when I say, "Sorry ... You have those two records. Go listen to them!".) I respectfully disagree with these statements. It's just not as straight forward as other albums true but if you actually listen the album has a lot of heavy songs. Just spread out and all different kinds of "heavy" e.g. Leathers, poltergeist, gauze, Rosemary, Goon Squad. I'll admit I'm disappointed with the lack of screams in this record, but, I understand and respect the decisions they made to make this album. Hell! I still love it to death! And, unique a sound Koi No Yokan has, it really feels like a compilation of all their albums. You have grooving songs like Poltergeist and Goon Squad, Leathers brings me back to the "Dark Days" (Self titled era), the mixing and Chino's vocals really tie their current sound in and so on and so forth. All in all, I think Deftones has done it again! It definitely deserves the praises it's been getting by people. I wish more people know about Deftones and this album because in this day and age of music it's definitely a special treat! It's maybe not the album that I would show someone if I wanted to get them into Deftones. But it shouldn't just be pushed to the side either. Koi No Yokan is brilliant!

Mikekara - Buy

In my opinion, the best Deftones album. Chinos vocals are so much improved since their start. He is a bonafide vocalist, and excellent melodist, behind heavy guitars. Drums are interesting not just playing a typical 4/4 beat. And I love the time change on the second track, I think they go from a 7/8 to a 4/4 chourus. Really great job.

Zorro201266 - DEFTONES!!!!!

Just when I think they've finally peaked they come out with something that always redefines them. I think no two albums sound the same. Always a new feel. I can't stop listening to "Poltergeist" and "gauze". This is a must download.

Jmiguel 90 - Just amazing

You must buy this album if ur a old fan or new listener of them. They just keep getting better and better. If u enjoy their music u must see them live I recommend it. Rosemary and tempest are the real deal in this album... Just buy the whole thing.

The duuuuuude!! - MORE MORE MORE!!!

Deftones hands down continue to blow my eardrums to pieces!! Love these dudes from day one!! Can't get enough!! They continue to be the baddest band on the planet!! Keep burning the flame and showing this new boy band generation how it SHOULD BE DONE!!!!

Texas Gooner - Speechless!!!

I started listening to these guys when the first korn album came out in like 96' and they have been consistently great! I love this band with all my heart and this album is one of their best. In my opinion Diamond Eyes was their best album to date but this one is up there.

cpman1422 - Perfection.

I was highly optimistic with this album at first, but in the end I was deeply impressed. Deftones is one of those few bands that mysteriously gets better and better with each album. Chino's voice is perfect. 10/10

jerryo227 - They Just Don't Disappoint

No matter what your favorite album is, their worst album is better than most bands career effort. I've been a fan since '93 when I saw them in a little venue in Santa Barbara, CA open for a little known band at the time called, uh, oh yeah......KORN. They buried the opening act, and the headliner. Got a two song demo from them with "Root" and "Nosebleed" on it. Played that demo until it wore out. Then got Adrenaline a few days before it came out from a buddy at a radio station. Didn't even have artwork, just a big Maverick Records logo. Now I'm a little too old to be in the pit at a show anymore, but I'll risk it anytime for Deftones. Thanks boys. From a fan, to my favorite band. Thanks for never, ever disappointing us. Your music has just made life that much sweeter.

Massive bong hits - One of the best albums I have ever heard

It's apparent that I am not keeping up with music like I used to. I just discovered this album and it's 3 years old. I guess it's work, kids, sporting events.... However after scrolling through my favorite bands, I found this album. I didn't even bother previewing the songs, I just purchased it and been playing non stop. I have always enjoyed listening to this band over the years. This album shows their maturity and keeps true to their roots. Vocals are clean, as Chino always provides for our listening pleasure. The guitar riffs are distorted as always but this time, like Dimond Eyes, have a very clean distorted sound, know what I mean? Every song on this album is just plain awesome, this is the type of album you can play in front of your mother, boss and they won't look at you weird, instead there will bob their head to the beat and ask you to repeat that last track.

~

this album is amazing, I don’t dislike a single song. sure over the years Deftones have gotten softer to a degree but their song structures/lyrics have grown a huge amount.

ghrocknon - Pure Genius

I can't believe how good this album is. Every track is so different. Tempest is a great song but to me the most original song of them all is What Happened to You? Take a good hard listen and enjoy!

Four winds1963 - Deftones

This album is excellent. I have listen to it over and over again and never get tired of it. Really some of their best work.

Ozzyskye - The album that started it all...

The album that started it all for me! Bought this a few months after it came out and soon after fell in love with Diamond Eyes, Saturday Night Wrist, and the rest of their material BUT this is the album that made me fall in love with them. Had no idea what the title of the album met but it was as if it was meant to be; premonition of love. 🙌🏽

FoxHondaMan450 - Ear candy

I've been with Deftones since Adrenaline and over the years they have meshed all types of genres and sounds and have made it work. They continue to push the envelope within the alt. metal category (if you can even put them into any category). Koi is the result of excellent progressions, song writing, and creativity that this band seems to have infinite amounts. Highly recommend if you are a Deftones fan or just a lover of prog rock, alt metal, trip hop, ect.. RIP CHI!

SNB1111 - Amazing thieves

Guess what? This band has changed or "evolved" over the years, yet still sound like DEFTONES. This makes them true geniuses and truly amazing artists. Like all their albums, KNY is simply amazing. This band is very sincere in everything they put out and they keep the ball rolling with some great material! DEFTONES stole my heart once again. Love you guys!

orngelazermeltu - Only one song that I liked Goon Squad

You lose a member and you start sounding weird/ not bangin'. They used to know where they were going and I knew I loved their hard melodies. These new ones are more R'n'B-ish. Bleh!

Emmasmom8404 - Awesome album!!!

Tempest and Leathers may be the best 2 songs, but the whole album f---in rocks!!!!

Connorvi - no words can describe

heavenly

litespeed6 - Loaded

This album shows they are evolving,

ShiftingSun - I like this album a lot!

Its definitely different from any of their other albums, but don't let that deter you. Leathers and Entombed are a must listen. I like every single song on the album but, if you want to know which are a must listen, those would be it.

Parker J - This Album is Perfection

It’s just perfect. That’s all.

Gkshwtgsbsg - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bad motherfvcker - Great album

Like so many other reviewers, I've been with them from the beginning. I don't know if this is the best record they put out, but its in the top three.

deezyfbaby - Meh

How can people say this is their best work? I hate this album. It's not even deftones. Gore isn't much better. Been a fan since '97 and I that this just goes away.

Flabababababergasted - They're back

Diamond Eyes was a great album, but not as great as this. Heavy Guitar. Loud Drums. Amazing Melodies. And as always, Deep Vocals by Chino. A must have for any Deftones fan. An Outstanding Album. R.i.p Chi Cheng

Drzombieslayer - Amazing

Love each and every song on this album :) rosemary is my favorite off this album

Raw Materials - What Happened to You?

By far THEE best track on this album. If you only had to buy one, then this should be it. Stunning song+album from one of the greatest rock bands around.

zman7000 - Deftones at there finest!

I'm a huge fan of Deftones my favorite albums by them being White Pony, and Around The Fur. I never thought any of there cd's would be able to match them until now! This album is a masterpiece from start to finish. Having a old style deftones feel and there newer stuff. A must buy for all rock fans!

Scuba_Dooba - Dude...

My boys killed it.

crbnfbr - Epic

Just may be the best Deftones album yet....

hm021299 - Arguably their best album

People can say White Pony was more complex. People can say Adrenaline was more raw. People can say Diamond Eyes was more emotional. But I think this album takes the best part of every album and throws it into a masterpiece. I'm surprised songs like Rosemary and What Happened to You? didn't become some of their most popular songs. There will also be a special place in my mind for Entombed. Probably my favorite song of all time.

Vendrell77 - GS

Goon Squad is a sick track! Fave song of the album.

MiahDrao - 1UPs Diamond Eyes!

I think Diamond Eyes did a lot of things new, I think. New bassist, eight string guitar, and more technical songwriting. Koi No Yokan really refines this. The flavor is different, but still optimistic. Trippy album art, I might add. Swerve City - 8/10 GREAT opener! Gets me pumped every time. The guitar line in the bridge just shimmers. Romantic Dreams - 5/10 A little slower than the last track. Well, a lot slower. It's still good. It features some time signature changes between the verses and chorus. But I think it's a little static. Leathers - 8/10 The intro is really beautiful, and suddenly Chino startles the song to life. It's really solid and assertive. Poltergeist - 10/10 This track is my favorite from the album. That's probably because it's the heaviest, seriously showcasing Stef's prowess on the 8 string guitar. Entombed - 4/10 This song changes very little. It's very soothing, but it can also kill your excited mood. Graphic Nature - 7/10 Good track. I mostly like the guitar riffs, like usual. Tempest - 8/10 A very focused song that isn't afraid to take its time. It's very masterfully made. Best part is the crushing riff in the bridge and ending. Gauze - 7/10 This kinda snaps you awake after the ambient ending of Tempest. The guitar riffs are very unique here, but Chino's vocals in the chorus are stunning. Rosemary - 8/10 This song took me some time to enjoy. I like the ambient guitar lines that Stef starts up and especially the droning low notes he adds later. Best part: the outro. I love any opportunity they take to showcase that eight string. Good Squad - 8/10 A catchy, faster track. It's pretty good, but it takes a long time for it to get started. What Happened To You - 2/10 Yeah, not my favorite. It's pretty slow. I generally prefer something faster or heavier, but you may have already guessed.

Zachary Morrison - The Return of Deftones

Definitely a huge jump from Diamond Eyes. Loved it!

Carlos459 - Dye tvznp

I Yesterday saturday is sa she is a day I don’t ta syrup rdd

Bald Head Cholo - Underrated

Tempest is a good cut, as shown by popularity, but entombed and what happened to you are amongst the best tracks on this album! I've been listening to the deftones since around the fur days, and agree they are like a fine glass of wine!

Meow77212 - 5+

Amazing even all of these years later!

LazarusRising - RebelRevoltResist

Picked this up in 2012, still listen to it everyday. In fact, I haven't ejected the disc since putting it in my car's stereo. Every track is 5 stars, except tracks 4, 8, (4 stars) and 11(eh)

greatholyspaceghost - Heavy instrumentals & melodic vocals

Been looking for other bands/ albums like this and cant find any I like. One of a kind sound. Deftones best album.

PolkaDot110701 - Loved it.

Deftones have officially released their best album. I adored Koi No Yokan the first time I listened, and now about 20 plays later, I still feel the same. Romantic Dreams, Poltergeist, and Entombed are my top favorites.. but then again, I love each song. Chino has aged very well. So much intensity and passion. I fully recommend this album to anyone ready for a heavy, but smooth and trippy ride into the beautiful world of alt. metal.

Gully311 - Almost a year later...

I still love this album. Deftones is one of those rare bands that constantly delivers album after album and Koi No Yokan is no exception. Favorite track: Poltergeist

MrMan71 - Good stuff!

Great album. These guys consistently put out quality music.

JEck7 - Been a fan from the start and...

Can't believe I'm saying this, but this very well could be their best album. Chino is as good as he's ever been, Stephen is an absolute animal- every riff is perfect, Abe's best performance- tight and powerful from start to finish and Sergio brings a flavor Chi would be very proud of. There isn't a bad song on the album. It's Deftones at their best, heavy and beautiful at the same time. Not many bands can mix the two with such great precision and Deftones have done it to perfection on this album...kudos.

Kjpaw - The Best Album I've Ever Heard In My Life

The Best Album I've Ever Heard In My Life

CVSmitty - Still on the fringe, but much better.

Personally, I thought that Saturday Night Wrist was the last "great" Deftones record - you really have the 5 old greats that stand out. After this, I felt that Diamond Eyes was a vast step backward, bridging on the simplistic and lackluster. Most of the songs were soft acoustic ballads, with a few very methodical punches; the album was very one-sided and did not mystify in the usual way. With Koi No Yokan, however, Deftones dances between songs that have the standard of the great albums (Leathers and Tempest could be straight off Saturday Night Wrist or White Pony, production and all), songs that are fantastic but sound new and either incredibly catchy, evil, or mystical (Swerve City, Gauze, Entombed, Rosemary) and then songs that sound cheaply produced, thin, and cheesy (Romantic Dreams, for example). While many points on the record are a full return for Deftones, it slides back and forth between a master's touch and a jaded band's standard every other song, which makes the end score not as enjoyable as a whole - no one can say Deftones never had filler, but I thought that Saturday Night Wrist did away with this and put forth a fantastic full tracklist. Sound-wise, this album mixes snappy, stylish punk-skate tracks, tremendous soundscapes and modernist synth-filled ballads, powerful, revengeful melodic songs, and a mixed return to what made Saturday Night Wrist so great. Of coarse, nothing here is the same as White Pony or Adrenaline... we can't expect that... but the powerful standard that Saturday Night Wrist painted is back after Diamond Eyes' thinner painting.

TedxRyan - Premonition of a Classic Album

Deftones delivered again Tell your next of kin and close friends About this masterpiece Begin with Swerve City, it fulfills my fantasy Romantic Dreams fits my exotic rhyme scheme Nothing bitter about Leathers, just about as soft as feathers but way better Poltergeist seep in your veins and pulls of a mind heist Entombed expands the bands sound like a balloon Graphic Nature soothes your feelings and feels as if your ears been nurtured when i listen to Tempest, I am so impressed with sac town's greatest Gauze hammers you till you feel aroused Rosemary is crazy like you almost choked on a blueberry Goon Squad is so threatening that scares off lame-emo-hipster frauds Deftones are G.O.A.T., they'll be asking other knock-off or rip-off bands...What Happened To You?
