chandalar - Transcendence spoken here......

Makes you ears bleed in such a delicate way, you barely notice the blood loss. As always, depth, precision, originality, movement. Fall in and enjoy.

im2intoxic8ed - Another Great Release By Mr. Reznor

This latest album has been controversial to some NIN fans, not liking the different sound, wanting him to do constant rehashes of Broken, The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile. Some I've seen even hoping he relapses back into his drug use, and depression. Really? You want him to ruin his life, just so he can be "real" again, in your mind? Whatever it may be, I cannot disagree more. This is truly a great album, and incorporates sounds that are new, and awesome. What more could you ask for? In this album, Reznor shows his depth, while also going back to his pre-Broken, electronic roots, as well. This album pumps with amazing dancable beats, while Reznor also employs his brilliant skills as a lyricist. This is a four star effort in my mind. I reserve my five stars for music that blows me away; for music the provokes a deep emotional response from me. Like The Downward Spiral. Anyways, The whole album is a four star effort, but the highlights are Eater of Dreams/Copy of A, All Time Low, Came Back Haunted, Disappointed, Various Methods of Escape, Satellite, I Would For You, While I'm Still Here.

-->not_back|OnlyForward--> - No Hesitation about Hesitation Marks

Officially now my favorite nin record! It feels as though it's in my bloodstream- it's that good to me. Check out Find My Way, In Two, Satellite & Various Methods of Escape! Just some highlights..buy this it's SO WORTH IT!!

Blox_Plox - WARNING: OPINIONS INBOUND!

Personally, this album hit me very deep. Trent did an excellent job creating this and those 4 years or waiting really payed off. Everything from the flow of the songs, to the way each song is conveyed is just pure bliss to my ears. Trent may be getting older (he's 48 now) but he hasn't lost his touch! And to all the 1 and 2 star reviews: give this album a chance. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion but Trent didn't make this album for you. He made it for himself and everyone. I know it doesn't sound exactly like the rest of his work but I mean, what two NIN albums sound exaclty the same? Give it another listen, for Trent. That was my Pinion, hope this helped in some way!

bksox3 - Dissaster!

Too electronic for me...he really is on a downward spiral with this one. Dissapointed big time. How did COLUMBIA accept this release.

mandobanjobass - Trents "happ-yplace" masterpiece

Trent is in a better place..The music speaks for him and have you seen the size of his arms!! Obviously the man is healthy now in mind and body... .......By taking a step back towards the PHM days Trent has made a huge leap foward... The NIN apocolypse is over..for now (year zero, ghosts) and the landsape looks brighter , hopeful indeed... The album is a nonstop repeater...but the subtle key to the entire pause (hesitation) is in the final full song While Im still Here....Trent speaks confidently that everythings ok.....I dont mind Im ok (nothing) ever stays the same.... and if you listen you can hear him playing blues notes on the guitar!!! Hmmm , I wonder.... BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

All about the 90s - Last good nin album

Although this album has some songs that are unbearable. Most of this album is good. Trent is still using his guitar and producing killer sounds.

Nicki Sevv'n - Never Disappointed....

Admittedly, when I first listen to some of the tracks, I was surprised. Not a disappointed surprise but a "this is different" surprised. Most of the tracks are more of a groove rock style. Like Trent mentioned, this album was not about repeating his past projects but learning and stepping outside his comfort zone. I felt that I was taking that journey with NIN. I thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed this album especially the creativity. Like past NIN albums, I have many favorites on this one. I have never been disappointed with NIN and this album is no exception.

dj edge - Experience, maturity, growth

I’ve been listening to NIN since ‘89 and Hesitation Marks really reminds me of Pretty Hate Machine, but from a more experienced, mature Trent. It’s more structured and melodic than many of the albums in between, but still has teeth. Perhaps the How To Destroy Angels and/or recent movie scores diversions influenced a move in this direction. In any event, I love it and hope there is more to come.

RuckitRalph - Impressive ensemble

Reznor is back with a twist on his signature style. Various Methods of Escape is hauntingly beautiful, I Would For You is lyrically masterful. Bravo NIN!

CampuzanoS - Beautiful! Thank you-

Sick in déjà vu...

Greesetin - Incredible

I just saw the show at Barclays center in Brooklyn. This is an amazing album. With every album the band grows musically blending all the instruments with beautiful composition. You can tell from the show that this was hard work, there was nothing out of sync. Seeing it live brings an already amazing album to life.

rubberneck67 - Trent’s best NIN work since Downward Spiral

Nothing is going to top spiral, but this is good music. I’d give it 4 1/2 stars if I could.

DrNurseHitt - Brilliant

Sounds like a mix of The Fragile and The Slip. Some of the songs are very slow and mellow, while others are more high tempo and forceful.

Isaac Greear - Since 1994

I’ve been listening to Nine Inch Nails since 1994 and consider Trent Reznor to be one of the greatest artists of all time! The album only content gives you several extra tracks that didn’t make it on to the the album. NIN forever!

acupuncturemark - Hesitation Marks

Best of 2013!! Artistic adult rock Speaks to us all about the important stuff

Trust and Us - ❤️

❤️

Howdiggity - Didn't stand the test of time.

Despite all the hoop-la, this wasn't even as good as The Slip. The few good songs were over-produced, and the majority of the album is filler. If you're just discovering NIN, this would be one of the last records to bother listening to.

Chemichael Traces - Trent got his mojo back

The slip left very underwhelmed and even though I felt sad that NIN were breaking up, I also thought to myself, maybe he just needs a little time away to come up with something better, and I'm not dissapointed. It feels like it comes from a different place, and evolution of his maturity, which I feel has also happened to me along the way. I'm not the same crazy kid driving 100 mph everywhere I go, getting pass out drunk most nights a week anymore either, so it is a welcome change for me. Songs like "Satellite" touch on the paranoia of the age, and I just find all time to be very enjoysblr, somewhat reminiscent of what I like about The Fragile. All in all a welcome return from Trent and company. Hope there is more where this came from

RoyalWaste - Precision, Delicacy; Master of his Craft

This is his best work. Good old trent has really grown up. 1. Downward Spiral 2. Hesitation Marks 3. Social Network 4. Pretty Hate 5. Broken

MyMindsMuse - Bow Down

Trent’s mastery of soundscapes has not waned. The softer more melodic tracks are in force with this album and it has a bit of a laid back feel to it over all compared to the harder hitting stuff that makes up the majority of his work, but if you take it all in and immerse yourself in the full body of sounds, you will be moved by this album.

MisfitSuperStar - Reznor Raw

I LOVE this NIN album. I've been a Reznor disciple since the very early 90s with Pretty Hate Machine. I've never faltered. I find such intense meaning in every best of every track. I love that one can listen to a NIN song 10 times and hear 10 different things while experiencing 10 different emotions. That's what hooked me. Reznor's lyrical/practically poetical genius got me next. I find this album to be 1 of my faves. Listen to what Trent is telling us, his fans, through these songs. If you STILL don't get it, PLEASE listen to the commentary by Reznor at the end. He also gave us 2 gem tunes in that commentary, and while I like both, I canNOT wait to hear what he does with the second one. I just think the man is the King of Industrial Rock and always will be. The entire band are nothing short of awe-inspiring geniuses. Now into my 3rd decade following them, I do so very pleased and humbled by them. I wish I could give this album 100 stars because it gives us this raw look at some intense pain Reznor has had struggling and growing over the last few years. Absolute MUST HAVE if your a NIN fan.

Capitalism and Freedom - Hesitation Marks (Deluxe Edition)

This is one of my personal favorite Nine Inch Nails albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. This album also has great vocals, great drum solos, and great guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly. Definitely looking forward to the next limited play album, and extended play album from Nine Inch Nails.

NE. Not so much - Nothing

The T.R. Cult will Rave. But they lack objectivity. This is a 6.5 out of 10. Nothing more.

Warchylde - Long live NIN!

Thank you Trent! Where Trent is going is where I want to be.

fitterdata - Evolution

This album seems to be an extension of previous albums, as though this was material that was good but didn't fit in previous releases. That doesn't diminish it in my mind, though I wonder how Trent really feels about it.

HAM BAGGAAAAAAA!!! - I love this ALBUM

This is a great work of art. It is of a somewhat unexpected sound, which is a GOOD thing. I guess some people like knowing exactly how it will sound lol. You can't call anyone an artist if they just copy other work! Even if it's their own! BREAK DA RULES.

Faerl1 - The Sound of Success

I love the meanings and layers in "Came Back Haunted." Those elements are what made me a fan, and they are what will continue to make Reznor's music prosper. For all those who are complaining that this new content is not different enough, hear me out. I believe this is progressive in a whole different manner, and the music should not be forced to change successful fundamental elements to bring upon an unexpected "revolution." With NIN's dynamic sounds and deep, introspective meaning, the potential for variety is all there in a musical melting pot waiting to be sturred. I'm looking forward to hearing this Nintastic sound come forth. Afterall, I need a new CD to listen to in the car since my other ones have been played to death.

Guiniver - Deep with a side of raw

I love NIN why do fans want so many albums to sound the same, music evolves with the artist. Incredible sound, lyrics, and emotion. For me it bleeds with creativity!!! L O V I N G IT

santacruz0 - In Twi

Really good, but I want more HTDA now. In Two was my favorite track.

Keith756 - For you Nin

I bought this thinking that nine inch nails was the best thing ever this album is the worst album that has yet come out go back to when he first came out to back out to win you did not have the money you were not famous go make that groundbreaking record that you had you have lost it at least Johnny Cash had a right idea and really songbirds in that memo oh my God have you become domesticated

archersparadox - Solid

I was not excited about the singles on the radio, but I got it as a gift from a friend that knew I'm a fan of NIN. I listened to album a few times. It grew on me. It had a few stand out pieces. "I Could for You" Which leads into the most flowing tracks on the album to the end. "Various Methods of Escape" was my favorite and " All Time Low" and "Find My Way" we're enjoyable.

Chediddna42 - People who don't like his album are stuck

I'm not eloquent when writing, especially about music, but this is an album that shows an artist who is growing while holding to a unique style. I love his older stuff AND enjoyed this one thoroughly. If you like Pretty Hate Machine, listen to Pretty Hate Machine. If you like Broken, listen to Broken. Downward Spiral? Listen to that. I love the new sounds!

A=O - Technically progressed & more fluid, but.......

I have always been a huge fan. This work from a technical standpoint shows progress, and it is fluid. However, I feel that we have taken several huge steps backwards, back to "Pretty Hate Machine", this is the "Pretty Hate Machine of 2013", only different lyrics and a much more polished production. Unfortunately, Trent is blurring the lines between "How To Destroy Angels" and "NIN". Some of this comes across as lounge music. Keep the softer, gentler, and kinder side for your "Better Half, and HTDA". Keep that dark place within you, keep it walled up, and let the flood gates open, let the dark creativity flow when it comes to NIN. Do that, and forever will be yours ! ! !

DigitalDigitalActivists1722 - Album of the year.

Even my brother likes it.

Frank Statham Martin - Much more different

Trent is back with a different sound for NIN and proves just how much of genius he truly is. This is a leaner meaner NIN, and this is his best one in years!

Steve HB - Finally

Waited a long time for this... well worth the wait. its awesome

Neurosis Fan - NIN's best album since The Fragile

Many people have already said this, but it's worth noting...this is Reznor's best album since his masterpiece, The Fragile. In the NIN catalog, I'd rate this as probably the 3rd-best after The Fragile & The Downward Spiral. This is infinitely more enjoyable than The Slip and just slightly better than Year Zero for me. What makes this album so great is that there are very few weak tracks (possibly only 1 or 2) - most of these are top-notch NIN songs. Plus, the track-by-track flow of most of the album is seamless. It's worth pointing out how incredible song of these songs really are - In Two & Various Methods of Escape are 2 of my all-time favorite NIN songs after just 3 weeks of listening. These are both so unique that you have to hear them to understand. And Satellite & Copy of A aren't too far behind. The infectious beat on these 2 songs is almost absurd. And the next-tier songs on this album are also really, really strong - Came Back Haunted, All Time Low, & While I'm Still Here/Black Noise (no idea why those 2 tracks are split out). The only thing I wish was different was replacing the song Everything with something else Trent might have kept off the album. Imagine if this had been replaced with an instrumental piece on par with Another Version of the Truth from Year Zero? Or maybe Corona Radiata from The Slip? In fact, if this album had 2 or 3 of his high-quality "Fragile-esque" instrumentals (or even some of the better ones from Ghosts like track 1), this album for me might have been an all-time classic like The Fragile & The Downward Spiral. Highly recommended despite these slight complaints.

GH47946 - Brilliant......the whole way through

What a fantastic release! Do yourself a favor and buy it. The melodic breaks are simply amazing.

Big Andie - phenomenal depth

Yes, like most albums, it takes a few listens to really appreciate this piece, but the point is I kept listening…and listening…and listening. This is a more simplified approach compared to older layered pieces by NIN, but unique and enjoyable all the way through. Out of character songs like "Everything" were a surprising gem. As a designer, I've been listening to NIN for (ugh) going on 20 years, and TR continue to strike a chord that always taps into my creative juices…when I'm in the mood to create and push my creative limits, NIN is my go to music. I love the back end remixes. Fresh electronic and haunting versions of the originals. Get the album and don't look back.

compost01 - Sad to see trent loose his magic

I don't know if he just rushed into it, or simply didn't care anymore. We love NIN and Trent for everything they've done. But this album is just not NIN. Funny enough , the unfinished song played in the commentary, started to sound good... :) Imho, this is late depeche mode meets jean michelle jarre. I'll keep carefully listening to it, maybe it'll grow into me.

Master KHI - Boo

Life long NIN fan. This is a disappointment.

clamslam69 - Excellent album!

Don’t let the people that are disappointed with this album steer you away! This album is amazing and IMO is way better than with teeth and the slip! This album is true to form reminiscent of pretty hate machine! I love the samples throughout! Very refreshing in a time when music is getting stale!

DP22578 - Boring…?

Not too impressed with this one. It is different, I will give you that.

JaneRLeBlanc - Old + new = amazing

Harkening back to Pretty Hate Machine, Reznor created a beautifully layered album with some refreshing instruments and unexpected riffs. A "must own" for any NIN fan.

Bharveywallbanger - Not sure where bad reviews come from...

This album has become one of my favorites. Trent has evolved and so has his music. Not sure how some of you can say this sounds the same when it clearly doesn't. There is more musical content. Most nin fans couldn't handle the fragile when it is his best by far. Stop hoping for 1989-1996 NIN and realize the music is more advanced and the man is no longer depressed and drunk/drugged up.. and to all of you that said the only good reviews come from old nin fans desperate to hang on to them and are full of it. This is still better than 99% of what's being released today. Grow up and evolve

The Inconvenient Comedian - Haters gonna hate

Got some folks that think that angry trouble people are always going to be angry and troubled. Fun fact - people change, progress, and grow, and this album is an outstanding continuation of Mr. Reznor's story.

Xurai - Came back haunted?

I love this album too much. There well put together songs and more mature sounding . My fav is came back haunted, copy of a , and everything :3 def. can't wait to see him perform these live in concert

Jimenides - Dark Disco

Dark and lovely. Not your typical NiN album, but that's not a bad thing. This is a piece of art, not simply an album of music. There is a theme, there is texture, there is substance. This is dark wave with a twist. The dark arts reside here.

boredCheyenne - Holy crap.

I adore NIN and Trent is like, my god. So, after buying Immigrant Song off The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and eating it up, I was sooo stoked about this album. Holy crap. Ugh. I don't know how Trent does it, I really don't. I don't know if I'd say this is the best NIN album but, oh man, does it come close. Came Back Haunted reeled me in but Satellite, Disappointed, All Time Low, I Would For You, and Running (my faves) got me hooked.
