mtedeschi - Chopping Broccoli

That's what this is. If you don't know what Chopping Broccoli is, look it up on Google.

cleaning windows - High Intensity Hopes

Just Like Fire Would, this album burns with intensity. That's also the best tune on it. Some of Morello's guitar work, I think, is a little over the top for a Springsteen joint, but there's not a bad tune on the record. Harry's Place is probably the only "throw away" on here by Bruce's standards. It's an odd mix of tunes, but it's all interesting listening, and I bet these songs will all sound great live. High Hopes of seeing him and the band this year.

Jillywag - Best album

Awesome bruce I'm only 13 but I'm more interested in you than Eminem or JAY Z or any type of rap you ROCK BRUCE!!!!!!

smokehouse - Sorry Bruce you lost meā€¦.

It just gets worse and worseā€¦.I still love the man like a brother, but everything about this record is mediocre. The production in particular, the grinding noise, the redundant guitars, the haphazard lyrics, oh the vocalsā€¦.where did the magic go. I donā€™t need BTR II, but in terms of production, sound, instrumentation, message, it would be nice if Bruce went back to making that type of record. I didnā€™t think Bruce was capable of making anything worse than Working on a Dream, but I was wrong...

the boss fan - I don't care what anyone saysā€¦.

This is a fantastic bruce album from start to finish. i will admit that there 1 or 2 dud songs but overall this is a 8.5 of 10 at the least. Bruce finally has that modern sound we've been looking for. "Ameircan skin" is spooky and breathtaking, "Dream baby dream" gets you going once the song starts to pick up. "the ghost of tom joad" is a modern rock version of the acoustic version bruce wanted in the first place. "the wall" is a classic springsteen hit i'll just leave it at that.. "Harry's place" is a unique song by bruce as he has some colorful vocabulary but head beating rhythm.

Fan Since 85 - Great stuff!

There are some real gems on this. Check it out you won't be disappointed!

FitnessNFilms - Mostly filler & too much Tom Morello

Songs like "Down in the Hole" and "Hunter of Invisible Game" are welcome additions to Springsteen fans, but this album is mostly a collection of unnecessary covers & old Springsteen songs that have already been released years ago. And I think Tom Morello was an issue. His constant scratching was kind of annoying & overdone. His style just doesn't fit with Bruce's music. He's fine as the occasional guest on stage performing a song or two, but I think he has overstayed his welcome lately & I hope Bruce leaves him in the lurch for the next album/tour..

Kermit996 - Please Just Stop!

Don't know where he was going with this. Nothing good here.

the Askanison - all done

its about time reviewers realize that this guy is about making money...he's been doing it for a long time. overrated and overpaid

TylerABurns - high hopes

this album is amazing. i could listen to it for ever. bruce is just a good singer and i could spend all my time jamming to these song. it's great and totally worth listening to.

PFriedr484 - Great

Amazing that he continues to maintain this level of creativity, production, and musicianship.

David1977 - Another gem

Great album... Heaven's Wall is fantastic

Lolaspet - Excellent

Awesome! Love it!

vame toure - your music

coooool i like your music

55downup - still love you Bruce

The Boss has not done anything in decades that can match what he did when he was in his prime. His live shows (74-79) were incredible. I think the last truly great album he made was Darkness on the Edge of Town. A poster of the album cover hangs on my bedroom wall. I did like Tunnel of Love. Thanks for the memories Bruce. You will always be #1 in my heart.

tpark29 - Average on its best day. - C-/D+

Anyone who claims this album is anywhere close to the music Springsteen put out prior to Born in the USA is kidding themselves. Just like all of his more recent albums (except the Live & Greatest Hits) - a few okay songs and a bunch of stuff you don't want to hear twice.

KthomDe - Wonderful!

Some new and some old but still wonderful. A must have for Bruce fans.

The "Wagon" - IT'S GOOD!!!

Not sure what to expect but I wasn't impressed with Wrecking Ball either. A few good songs but there is no "MAGIC" in the title song High Hopes. Like many of you who are big time Bruce Springsteen fans like myself, I am hoping the new songs on the rest of the album rock. Not excited about seeing 41 Shots on there as well. Dream Baby Dream is a softer style Bruce song and very good so I don't mind that and I'm sure The Ghost Of Tom Joad is a previously updated version of the song. I have my doubts on the new album though. My review was only for the title song and Dream Baby Dream for those who feel I was talking about the whole album at the time and can't read correctly. After hearing the full album, with the exception of Bruce using the F word in song 2, the album is actually very good. There are some great songs on the album and some not so good but it is much better than I expected. Bruce still has something left in the tank.

Broph67749 - Amazing

An artist can not just keep pumping out the same type of upbeat music and expect every one to be a hit. Springsteen knows that. So what does he do? He comes out with High Hopes and it does not disappoint. He has his upbeat greats and his slow greats. I may be only a senior in high school but I have been listening to Bruce forever and this album is fantastic. end of discussion.

Nor'easter - Fantastic

Love the edge Tom Morello brings to the music, especially 41 Shots, High Hopes. Don't understand all of the neg reviews- I like hearing this somewhat new direction from Bruce. Sounds great!

Fxwgandy - Best

Can't believe a Boss fan could even ? The quality of this or any album or song of e streets I'm 57 he rocks always has and always will. Toms great . Boss is the boss love to meet him hang for a day

bearcatjohn - Solid Effort though not a classic

Like many others, I listen to every new Springsteen album hoping for another "Thunder Road". I like High Hopes more than anything he has done in a long while. Not the classic but definitely a good effort. Someone tell me why all the reviews at the top of iTunes are bad reviews when this has a 4-star rating on average?

rebelaxe - long time fan

Bruce has always been one of my favorites period. his early stuff was great, I particulrly like the solo stuff, The Rising and his venture into folk all great, but starting with Magic, The albums left me a little dissapointed while in each album there are gems, I am not used to filler in a springsteen album and the pop direction he took the music was not my bag, this album has so much I have already purchased. . Half of the cd has been previously released, The ghost tom joad, High Hopes, Dream Baby Dream, American skin. the wall is a instant classic. I have high hopes the next album will be better

agent_theory - Great Collaboration

Bruce and Tom should work together more often. Tom's heavy and dynamic guitar sound compliments Bruce's dramatic writing style, so the lyrics and the guitar really play well together. I only give it four stars because a couple of the songs aren't fully developed, but overall, both artists have a flair for the dramatic, both lyrically and musically, without going over the top. Totally fresh and innovative!

Magic rAT 78 - Harrys place

Great dark rocker- Its where Rosalita,Wendy,Puerto Rican Jane and the Barefoot girl all end up after a bender- Bruce keeping it fresh. Tom Morello a big plus on some of these tracks- 5 stars

65'sAngel - Music is now his hobby

I like the cover of the Havelina's 'High Hope's' but there isn't much else here to interest me. I own every song the man has released and he's starting to lose me. Great writer in his day. Great performer to this day. It's hard to write and connect with the common man when it's been almost forty years since he's been one. Life is different for him now...and that is most certainly reflected in his music.

IamMagicRat - Awful

Been a serious long time fan from 1975, have seen Bruce countless times in bars, theaters, etc. I have heard him say he ā€œis in a long conversation with his audience that will last a lifetimeā€; I think its time for Bruce to go sit on the beach and end the conversation for a while and find some inspiration like The Rising. This is the most uninspiring garbage and he should be embarrassed and ashamed to release really. BS must have album contractual obligations to put this mediocrity forward and frankly diluting his legacy putting crap out like this.

Dcs 5566 - (The Boss)

Been a long time fan sent the early 80's I haven't never heard a bad song by the. Boss & The E-Street Band!

Allzwell - Focus should be on quality - not on quantity!

This album is certainly better than Wrecking Ball. However, the majority of his work in the past few years has not been up to usual Springsteen standards. He appears to be giving us quantity, while we're looking for quality. Personally, I'd prefer for him to take whatever time it'd take to produce one final blockbuster album that would certainly seal his legacy in music history. I believe that he still has one more super album in him. He just needs to devote time in the studio (as he did in the early days) to show that he can still record powerful and meaningful music. Not just "little ditties". Yes, Bruce, your longtime fans are still alive out here! And we still have reason to believe that you're still the Boss. We just need you to show us that your musical genius is still alive in you.

LongToungedLiar - Excellent Album

I'm a Springsteen fan who has no problem at all being critical of weak subpar efforts. High Hopes is NOT one of those efforts. Not since Born In the USA has a Springsteen album been in such heavy rotation for me. The River and Rising came close when they were released. I think the covers are well chosen and have been completely nailed. The tunes we've all heard before are given there just due, and this album is better for it. There is a distinct pop sound to these songs. It's true, there's no Jungleland or Thunder Road. Hell, there's not even a Lonesome Day. But - there is a Harry's Place and The Wall and Down In The Hole. Love it.y. We need to appreciate this artist while we've got him.

Macgirl_k - Amazing!!!!!

Wrecking Ball is still my favorite but this has some really good songs! Not as much energy but a quieter brilliance.

JohnNY.88 - Brilliant and Magical

Some things in in life have the ability to lift us up and put an involuntary smile on our faces... Bruce's magic is one of them. An amazing album, like all his albums are... Give it a listen... You won't regret it.

Rpura - Solid contribution

After reading some of the previous reviews, I was a bit skeptical about High Hopes. But, (not to my surprise), High Hopes is a solid piece of work. The alternate version of TGofTJ is fantastic; I can't stop listening to it. Do yourself a favor..this needs to be in your collection. Once again, Bruce proves why he is The Boss!

Johnytits - The boss is 61

What should/would u write after almost 50 years... This album reinvents rock and, the boss is...a joe strummer of icons

gwatzig19 - The Boss?

This album is good, but the Boss needs to do something new for his next album.

Alexander D. Great - Tired old fans?

For those who despise Mr. Springsteen political views so much, feel free to go and listen to Mr. scratch cat fever.

JVC527 - searching for THE BOSS in the 70's

the boss has left the building...who is this guy that's trying to replace him ?

Mariah's word - Now Cratering

As of 3/16/14 Bruce is circling the toilet bowl of Rock and Roll. Seems the Boss has shut down some bridges of his own. I find his music now very over produced and lacking spontaneity. Gone is the working man's man. Gone is the raw emotion. Gone! The voice of a desperate generation in the want for something better. Bruce I am sorry but I want a divorce. Go play with your elite shills and thanks for selling us out. Number 49 on the Critical List. You are no longer the boss you are just lost.

jaffinc - He just gets better with age

Amazing new music !...covers or not they are reworked perfectly. Some of these old time fans are just living in the past!!

GW in PA - Disappointing

I had "High Hopes" for this when I bought it, but those were dashed. However, he has made so much great music and put on such great shows in his career that I am not going to go on about it.

Professor Araujo - Bruce: Delivers Again

Iā€™ve been a Bruce fan since I moved to Jersey in the 1980s. He has always delivered and still does with High Hopes. Yes, I do agree that it takes time to get used to the new sounds he incorporates with each release but itā€™s always magic to my ears for years to come as I discover new sounds. Canā€™t wait to hear it on tour.

skbpdx - Brilliant

Thanks, Bruce.

Jake.Lorenz - The Boss

Incredible album! Bruce just keeps getting better & better!!!

FlashFloodRanBy - Really Don't Care for This One

Cast off songs. Not worth full purchase. I only bought High Hopes and might possibly get This Is Your Sword. Disappointed with this one.

Crispy614839 - Great album but other reviews lies and B.S

This is an awesome album with passion in the songs. Many people who reviewed this lied. This album is very good, and the songs preformed live, forget about it.

29 years burnin' down the road - Springsteen - High Hopes

I haven't listened to a "new" (since The Rising, 2002) Springsteen album and immediately loved it. And I didn't with this one, either. But I have faith in his work, because he ALWAYS ends up astounding me with his lyrical genius that only continues to evolve and mature from the songs about he wrote about cars and girls in the earlier days of the E-Street Band. You have to listen closely to his new stuff at first to appreciate his message. The words and music work together to deliver Bruce's ever-present messages of strength, love, faith, and...hope! High Hopes is a great song; I LOVE the sound. Tom Morello is absolutely brilliant, and they've played live together for years, and his lyrical and musical (brilliant on the guitar) talents are well-represented on this album. Some older favorites are included, such as Ghost of Tom Joad (better, of course than the original), and American Skin (41 Shots). Bruce just has a mellower sound now...his focused anger is still there in the words and music, and he just gets better and better. If you've never seen a live show of his, I HIGHLY recommend seeing at least one, because 1) his shows are incredible, 2) you get your money's worth with a concert lasting approximately 3.5 hours, and 3) in case you missed #1, his shows are incredible...I can't explain it. My favorite songs on this album (so far) are: High Hopes, Harry's Place, American Skin (41 Shots), Heaven's Wall, Frankie Fell in Love, and The Ghost of Tom Joad. And how awesome that he still writes about his characters from way back...Frankie. Love that!

JPMeyers - Loved it!

Let me preface this by stating that I'm only a casual fan of The Boss - Only his Greatest Hits, and We Shall Overcome (American Land Edition) make up the rest of my Springsteen collection - and I've managed to collect about 14K songs over the years that run from classic rock, to classical, to symphic rock to jazz classics and even The Rat Pack . . . and lastly, but probably more importanly, I never review anything. All that hat being said, High Hopes is one of the best albums that I've listened to, in a long, long time. It's the only one, in a very long time, that I listened to straight through and liked every tune, and when I got to the last one - "Dream Baby Dream" on the edition that I have - I thought, "Man, I want to hear those again!" But I was done shovelling and It'll wait 'till tomorrow. 'Nice work, Boss!

Trencher - Overrated

Springsteen is the most overrated artist ever.

jmpvent - Not the same sounding Bruce

I love the sound of this CD! It definitely sounds like 2014. I've listened to it three times in the last couple of days and I like the Tom Morello sound of the guitars. Good direction for Bruce. Keep it up.

NY STEVE 1955 - Why repeat old songs?

Why repeat hit songs? It seems that they just were trying to fill the album space. As a long time Bruce fan I am disappointed.
