I said Bertha, get in here and listen to this with me, would ya? I mean, as soon as you finish the dishes of course. That bird finally came in and we cut a rug together as we listened to this recording not once, not twice, but three times in a row! Holy mackerel is this thing toasty. Iâm off for my fourth listen, cover to cover, side to side, in 24 hours. These broads can sing I tell you. Sing! This music makes me smile so much I have to bite my pipe to keep it from falling out of my mouth.
The arrangements are just short of genius and even if they weren't, they'd still be so much fun to listen to. I was super impressed by Kate Davis, she knocked it out of the park! Cool, cool, cool. In all aspects.
This is so cool! I mean, I've never seen anything ever like this! It's less like a remix, and more of an unmix. It takes all the modern songs and makes the genre that of the sixties. Who ever came up with this idea is a genius! And, most importantly, it's clean.
These songs strike a chord with all who appreciate a few people getting together, and belting out a tune with powerful grace. Synthesized talentless pop kids need not apply. When Kate Davis belts out All about that Bass, while playing an upright bass, I can't turn it off. I love it on many levels, and PMJ hold a new spot in my "record shelf."
Just A-mazing.
This is music I can appreciate. In a world of synthetic sounds these tunes are wonderfully refreshing to hear. I love the album!
This is what the radio should be playing right now!
I have fallen in love with all of their music! They all have natural real talent and are limitless! It is such a relief that real musicians still exist. I personally met them on tour and they are a great unique inspiring group of individuals! Love you PMJ!
Amazingly smart way to make crappy new music, better!
In a world of over-produced synthetic everything, it's a huge relief to hear something real.
I can't wait to see u guys live and meet you guys
Where is Robynâs Adele Anderson and âBlurred Linesâ?? That so the best song, and most fun and its not here? Why? Câmon, release it as a single!!
I am absolutely obsessed with this album! This is SUCH a creative idea and album! I simply love everything about and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!! This is such a refreshing piece of artistry in such a fake and plastic day and age. LOVE IT AND KEEP DOING WHAT YOURE DOING!!
This is really good. I love it so much
Kate Davis needs to sing in more songs, talk about an under-utilized resource! These guys are amazing either way though.
Great vocal, great arrangement. Actual musicians collaborating and making music!!!! (Instead of using foul language and making millions). I'm buying this just to support you guys and your hard work.
Oliver Twist on a toot! This is a sockdollager to spend your hard earned mazuma on. Now you're on the trolley driving your hayburner while looking for some choice bit of calico. This album is darb and that's the rub. Great to listen to with a Sheba tomato just make sure she ain't no flour-flusher.
This is honestly their best one yet. So many great songs from this summer; each with a complete makeover. Absolutely love this.
Unbelievably talented group of musicians. Discovering this on a teribble week, brings light into my life. Thank you!
It's a gimmick that gets old really fast.
All I can saw is wow!
Postmodern Jukebox is easily one of the greatest cover bands out there. Buy their album! You wonât be disappointed.
These guys deserve all the money!
I love hearing some of my favorite new & classic hits redone with out turning into club mixes. My kids also love it which is fantastic because all of the songs are clean versions-which makes for singing in the car easier:) I love introducing jazz to my kids with songs they already know the words to. It is wonderful to truly hear the creativity & talent brought out with each of the songs. You truly appreciate all the talent that goes into each song from the band, to the vocalists to even the writers. Great job on giving something this domestic engineer can swing her hips too while doing dishes, or entertaining family & friends.
Just when you think music will never be played again using real instruments and raw talent. Thank you Scott Bradley and the PMJ family.
Only a spifflicated sap wouldn't enjoy this! It's ab-so-lute-ly the cat's meow! Considering Tin Pan Alley's filled with baloney nowadays, this album comes to put on the Ritz back! It's a copacetic work that is well worth your dough! As always, Scott Bradlee and Postmodern Jukebox hit on all sixes. Get it! It's even better than making whoopee!
While I do not remember how I first came across Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, there's no question that this amazing group of people it's something to cherish for years to come. PMJ's rendition of, "All About Tha Bass" headlining Kate Davis, is such a mature version of Megan Trainor's original, that it is hard to realize the lyrics are the same. Scot Bradlee's arrangements are fun as well. I have followed them on YouTube, bought iTunes albums, and have seen them perform in person - and I didn't even know who they were 3 months ago! I am 58 years old and can appreciate this music and the individual singers; and the show that I went to was full of young people as well. That is a great sign.
This is great!!! Great, real, music with heart.
If you havenât read the papers, Postmodern Jukebox is a bunch of swell lads and dames that play tomorrowâs music, today! They are simply the catâs meow, and everyone from President Coolidge to Joe Palooka have expressed an admiration for their toe-tappinâ tunes. Their landlord gave them the bumâs rush, but theyâre hitting the road for a whistle stop tour this Fall- see them at your local juice joint! tl:dr Donât be a wet blanket- get this record.
PMJ's 3rd album is the best yet. More soulful and bluesy than there past two albums, Historical Misappropriations has a maturity that does not hamper the humor that runs through their whole catelog. Each time I download an album, I'm already looking forward to the next!
